OVERVIEW

When it comes to hardcore, meaty metal sound, all hail Satan.

The Randall Ola Englund Satan 120W all-tube head was designed by legendary tone-maker Mike Fortin to accommodate Englund's spine-crushing high-gain sound requirements while not losing clarity when playing well below standard E tuning. And, when you play for bands with names including The Haunted, Six Feet Under, and Feared, the aggression needs to be cranked to 11, and that's exactly how Satan sounds.

Its two channels are powered by six 12AX7 preamp tubes and a pair of 6L6 and KT88 power-amp tubes. Controls on channel 1 include Girth (low-frequency gain), Grind (high-frequency gain), gain (overall gain), "Kill" switch (boost) and Sweep for variable tone stack frequency point control. Channel two houses mid-shift and bright switches. Both channels offer independent three-band EQs, as well as volume and gain. And both share depth, presence and master volume.

FEATURES
  • Power: 120W (tube)
  • Tubes: six 12AX7 (preamp); two 6L6, two KT88 (power amp)
  • Two footswitchable channels
  • Two inputs for passive and active pickups
  • Footswitchable boost
  • Impedance: 4Ω, 8Ω, 16Ω
  • Tube-driven series/parallel footswitchable FX loop
  • Controls: (Channel 1) Girth (low-frequency gain), Grind (high-frequency gain), gain (overall gain), "Kill" switch (boost), Sweep, three-band EQ; (Channel 2) three-band EQ, volume, gain, mid-shift switch, bright switch; (universal) depth, presence, master volume

Comments about Randall Ola Englund Signature Satan 120W Tube Guitar Head:

This head is rediculous. The first head with gain EQ in combinations of other features gives you 100 heads in one. Most heads have tone. Yeah, you can EQ the tone - but the gain is the gain you buy. However Satan allows you to sculp the gain. Do you want a modern gain sound, do you want more bass in your gain?.. The possibilities are truly endless. Now add the "sweep" nob and you can calibrate this head to your cab - now add the presence and depth nobs and there is even more options. Rediculous. The 6L6's and KT88's are so fat they remind you why tube is the way to go. Ola is the man, and watching his head reviews let you know how special this Randall collaboration is. This head will be remembered. As far as negative reviews I have seen on this site. I think I know the source. My schecter hellraiser and artist series sound redonk. My LTD EC-1000 sounds great. Satan has both active and passive input plugs!.. However my Fender Super Tele is too bright and it is tough to get the bass in there no matter what you do. This may explain the negative review above. So I gather that some hot rodded Les Paul's may lack in the same area. But if you are a EMG/Seymour fan you will be in heaven. Worth every penny, and the all black with red LED's look menacing. Thanks Randall, and thank you Ola.

Comments about Randall Ola Englund Signature Satan 120W Tube Guitar Head:

Hands down the best investment and purchase I have made. This Randall SATAN head is GODLY. Spent a week dialing in the EQ with my 8 Strings and WE PLAY LOUD and at the decibels we play at live the EQ really holds solid and bites through the mix. This Amp is not for amutures... Its plays well at low volumes, but is meant for FULL THROTTLE..!!! The Mids and Bottom end and devastating .... The fact that you can dial in your 8 string to PUNCH with clarity and NO MUDDY MESS... THIS AMP IS TIGHT.. I LOVE IT... Its everything I thought it would be and MORE..!!!! Best 2K I ever spent..!!!! I will be touring with this this year and am looking forward to testing it in different venues and arena's.... You can make any amp sound good at LOW volumes but at HI VOLUMES the RANDALL SATAN RULES....!!!!!6irth,6rind,6ain..!!!! And the KILL boost at 6db is perfect...!!!! I have toured HARD with JCM 800's, Metaltronix 1000's(LEE JACKSON MODDED), Mesa Triple Rectifiers and recently Bogner(MODDED).... The Randall SATAN .. IS MY NEW FAVORITE alltime ALL STAR amp... SALUTE...!!!!!

Comments about Randall Ola Englund Signature Satan 120W Tube Guitar Head:

I love high gain tones and was very excited about this amp when I received it. However, no matter what kind of cab I ran it through I couldn't get a tone that didn't literally hurt my ears.
Very focused tone that may better suit someone who plays dropped tuning. At 440 or down a 1/2 step this amp is everything but warm.
Probably great for some players and certainly a lot of amp for the money but not my cup of tea.
