A modern interpretation of the venerable RG80—the basis of the classic Randall sound.
Developed to celebrate Randall's 40th anniversary, the 70W RG8040 solid state guitar combo amp offers 2 channels: Classic Clean with a bright switch and Overdrive for a wide range of amped-up tones. Its 3-band master EQ has pull knobs for bass and mid boosts, and its loaded with a spring reverb that's footswitchable with an optional RFRG80 switch.
Additional features on the RG8040 combo include an aux in, XLR line out with ground lift, series FX loop, and headphone out. All its great tone comes through a 12" specially designed and voiced RD121008 Diavlo speaker.

I bought this amp because Randall seemed like a top Heavy Metal guitar amplifier maker. Little did I know that this amp was based off a Randall amplifier from the 80's that really got the ball rolling for alot of big names!
This amp has a good ability to tweak your sound from bright cleans to scooped and bass-heavy Metal (if that's your thing!).
It has a tight and saturated-sounding distortion which sounds good with ample mids and treble added. You can get that 80's-sounding 'hair' metal tone or a wall-of-Thrash sound.
This amp screams Metal - literally.

I have several nice tube amps that this one will never replace but for what it is it is a great value. Easy to get a good sound without a lot of fuss. It has a great distortion sound is light weight and has a big sound. I wish it had separate EQs for each channel but at this price that may be asking a little to much.
