I bought this amp about 6 months ago and have had plenty of time to really check it out. I am using a Behringer 400 watt cab along with a Line 6 Podxt Live and a Les Paul with EMG pickups. What can I say. Of course it's gonna sound great with the line 6 and the Paul. How could it not? The amp alone without the line 6 has some great tone. The clean channel is good. Even with no effects. It provides an excellent foundatio to build upon. Very useable tone. The dirty channel in mode one is great. Very classic and rich in tone. Very easy to coax controlled feedback. I had no squealing or harshness when I would stop playing. Of course, this has alot to do with your pickups. Mode 2 I did not care for as much. In my opinion it was kind of buzzy sounding and stale as far as a heavy saturated tone is concerned. But all-in-all, a great amp that provides a great foundation to build upon. It stands up great in a band situation as well and for the price there is really no alternative in my opinion.
Owned this amp head for several months now and have had NO problems with it at all. Great clean channel, better than previous randalls. Fantastic gain channels... that's right... Gain 1 has a Marshall vibe distortion, Gain 2 is pure over the top distortion. For the price, this is the best Solid State head on the market.
I used to have a Crate GX1200 head, but 3 months ago I bought my Randall, and let me tell you it was a huge upgrade. The clean channel is good but could be a bit cleaner, and the clean boost is a great feature. The overdrive channel gives out the perfect crunch, and the gain boost gives it that extra boost great for solos, and toss in the Boss DS-1 for the perfect lead tone. The reverb is excellent. Overall this is an amazing amp and the price is not that bad.
very good clean channel, reverb, light and heavy distorion, and a boost on the clean. The distortion awesome, you can dial any tone you want. Very high quality head at a low price
i ordered this and for about 4 months it worked fine then everything is broken and wont work
I bought this amp a few months ago and it is absolutly amazing! The overdrive channels are amazing. The gain 1 gives a perfect rhythm gain like an older marshall and the gain 2 is just balls to the wall loud and heavey! but could you expect anything less from the company dimebag darell uses? The only slight problem is the clean could be a little better, but this is one of the heaviest amps i have ever played and it is perfectly priced! i strongly recommend it.
This is one of the best amp heads I've ever used. This head is perfect for all those fast thrashy heavy songs. It has that perfect sound that I was looking for. I recomend this "MONSTER" to anyone who plays any type of heavy music.
I got this about half a year ago, and paired it with an old 1981 marshall 4x12. I'm all about the scooped recto sound and this amp really delivers that, also I have the verb at 12:00 at all times. This gives the gain a sort of saturated recto vibe. I'm into the metal, but I'm also a progressive rock guy, and with the verb on the clean channel it gives off a nice david gilmour prescence. Given not many of you will have an oldy marshall cab, But If your into the mesa boogie sound, I would recommend this over an acual recto head.
This amp is amazing...I have played everything from a fender to a marshall to a crate and even a few tubes and this randall has blown them all out of the water. I have played this amp many times live and practiced for extended periods of time, I even left it on for about eight hours and still have had no problems with this amp. I dont think it has ever even gotton hot on me while playing which is amazing because I play it maxed out all the time. This amp is a CREAM DREAM...WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR? BUY THIS AMP!!!
