I have had this head for over 4 years now, and I have come to realize just how awesome this thing is. Alot of companies are starting to market contours and scoops, "modern" gain settings and all of that, but I'm sorry, brands like Fender and Marshall should stick to the classic, punk and emo marketing scheme. I've played a bunch of amps over the years, and when it comes to metal, for the price, you cannot touch the ferocity, power or the tone that comes from Randall amps. It's sounds like you would expect a big powerful 200 watt fullstack to sound like. The range of eq is perfect; you can get that deep yet defined super super clean sound that only comes from Solid State, and the "overdrive" (heh) channels throw out rich, throaty, full-blooded hard rock and metal distortion, with definition to boot. No cheap digital crap or misappropriated frequency biases here. It just sounds awesome. I (had)a BG412S and it handled the head superbly. I recently tried it through a Tone blaster 4x12, which was ok, but I'm leaning back towards the Behringer (Not a fan of TB's). Anyway, for the price, this is serious firepower for the metal musician. Buy it!

i bought this amp, and the first day i got it, it didn't work, kept cutting out. the sound was good (when it actually worked), so i sent it back and exchanged for another one. a week later, when i got the next one, it did the same thing. so i took it to a local shop, and the guy tested it, and said that it was a problem with the effects loop, if you tapped the back of the amp it would shut off. so if you played at any decent volume, the vibrations shut it off as well. my advice would be to not buy this amp.

I was please with the head at first. The unit is very powerful and heavy with tone, except i had to turn the master level up about 3/4's for it to be the desired volume in my garage. It has a wonderful deep distortion. the problem that caused me to return the unit was the quality of the high's. The high's sounded like there was a multi-voice chorus to it that did not sound good at all. It was an annoying ring that i did not like. If your a rhythme guitarist, this head is very nice, but the high's are not high in quality.
Clean channel is amazing. The distortion is perfect for various types of music.
When my Marshall MG head died on me, I was in need of something that had REAL power and tone that wouldn't cost me a fortune. And this head is a 200W BEAST! It offers bonecrunching tone in both gain settings, in the clean boost adds a crystal clear dimension to your one. It's not good if you're looking for chorusing effects, but it's still awesome. The only complaint is if on Gain 2, if you crank it up it gives monstrous amounts of feedback (but that could be just because I play too loud). It's a great amp, perfect for metal players. If you're into metal and want a real powerhouse tone, then this is the head for you!
i've had this head for almost a year and will never get tired of it. i have it running through 4 celestion 12 inch speakers and it does everything from Dimebag to stevie ray to page. it does it all does it good. i will be a randall fan FOREVER.
From the minute I plugged my guitar into this amp I knew it had balls to the wall, the amp its self has two different gain settings and also each channel shares its own reverb which I really love, you can get any sound out of this amp you can think of from from country music, blues, to blazin metal. On to the clean channel it is really the best I've ever owned very versatile, it even has a built in boost that acts as a compressor, hands down this amp is one of the best I have ever played, I will continue to buy randall amps. They really do kick, :)
It's a pure power source for the metalhead, its bass will throw you away!!gain1=marshall dist=geat rock- hard rock,gain2=METAL,any kind of metal you want just take 2 minutes to tweak the knobs and find the sound;the stereo chorus is the best built.in effect that i've actually heard. It has got power loudness and lots of tones all for a very very low price now it's up to you!!
I bought this head on reviews and the owner of a Randall RG-75 amp. This amp head delivers. After tweeking and getting it set, I cranked it up and it blew my expectations away. I play in drop C and my Jackson KV2 blistered the walls. My Jackson 7 string is even lower than I thought it could be. I'm not exagerating, this thing rocks. I play in a Christian hardcore/progressive band. You can get any metal sound out of this thing. The clean is crystal clear and the boost option is icing on the cake. This is well worth the money. Gain 2 rules. Gain 1 is great for leads. You wont be dissapointed with this randall head.
I have hearf of this amp so i decided to buy it, and let me tell you this thing was worth the money. This head can do anything, with it's 200 watts its a roaring beast and with the clean and overdrive channels you will never wanna stop playing guitar.
I thought this was the heavyest amp I have ever played. I play through a Warlock guitar, and it cannot sound any better. Great heavy chunk and sustain, although I wish the vintage channel had a little more backbone. This amp is very, very, very loud. It has the best heavy distortion you could ever ask for.
good head at a great price. randall quality and 200 watts of power. great deal. you can't beat this head for this price.
