If your looking for a loud amp this is it with it's two 12" for tight end and it one 15" for tons of bass this is perfect for your metal needs this has got to be the best solid state amp there is and its afordable I highly recommend this to everybody.
Awesome! I had to find an upgrade from my beloved RG100SC combo, and this was perfect. Not that I'd think twice about getting anything but a Randall, but like I said, this is just perfect. The same as my old combo, but with more power, clarity, and versatility. I can crank this thing well above halfway without any loss of definition or unwanted feedback. The clean boost actually works the way it sounds, too! And the 2x12/1x15 speaker cab is beyond heavy sounding. Put an EQ on it,and make your own signature sound in no time at all. The half stack blended seamlessly with my Boss ME-50 and Morley Wah, and the effects sound full and deep. This amp also happens to LOVE anything with a Seymour Duncan in it! This thing is killer for anyone playing heavy music and totally delivers more bang for the buck.
After Playing On a little ten watt amp for 2 year I decided to start a band and need a new amp so decided to buy a halfstack after going to guitar center and not finding any thing I look in the mag and saw this and buy it I wasn't sure about how it would sound but when I got I was blown away the clean chnl with reverb is awesome and the distortion is heavey and punchy and no matter how loud you turn it up the notes are so clear I highly recommend this to any body looking for a great metal amp.
I have owned quite a few amps, mostly combo 100 watt versions including, line 6 which i couldn't stand and the randall rg 100 sc which packed alot of punch for what it was. Being in a metal band I needed more volume and balls so I bought the randall 200 watt head with the 2x12 1x15 cabinet and have been blown away with the sound and versatility of this amp the clean channel is good for spacey phased out drifts, while the crunch is typical randall kick ass. I use an equalizer pedal with it to bring out my sound and add bite overall nothing better in my opinion.
everything about this amp is good. except i wished it had another input. the footswitch is pretty much worthless. the distortion on the amp its self isnt very good, but i have my own peddle which works perfectly. it is realy loud and gives you what you need.
I purchased this amp figuring that it woulrd be crazy since dimebag darrell used them back in the day on their album "The Great Southern Trendkill". Let me tell you this thing has no distortion what so ever. Don't get me wong,it's very loud and the clean channel sounds great but the overdrive sounds like country or something. If you are going to buy this amp, make sure you have a good distortion pedal.
I'm not sure if I got a defective one or it's something else. I checked the back of the amp, it doesn't have any label for 8 or 4 ohms female jack. I tried both of them. I don't know what's the correct settings such as ground or lift. I tried both also. Please help. What type of cable did you use to connect amp to spkr?mono? Here's what happen: after using it for like 5-10mins of heavy distorted power chords like metallica or pantera, it'll change by itself to a fuzzy like a high freq sound, very ugly. It's so frustrating. What I would do to fix it is to turn it off then back on 'til I get that heavy sound again. Can anybody help me please? TY.
these amps have the perfect sound for metal, thrash, punk, anything loud. dimebag uses them so they have to be great . randalls go great with an esp, a jackson any great heavy guitar. hook up an explorer or a flying v and they will be a perfect match.
As my top-of-the-line, very expensive combo amp was not holding up to its reputation, I purchased this half stack for upcoming gigs. Wow. The RG200G2 was a sonic punch in the face right out of the box. I dialed in the factory recomended tones and tweaked them a little more to my liking, and I couldn't be more pleased. The gain settings are great for hard rock, metal or punk. The clean tone is suprisingly warm for a solid state amp. The solid construction, footswitch (with the extra long cable), the tone, and the price, make this amp a superb value. I'm keeping this one.
I must say that when I first ordered this amp I wasn't expecting to be so pleased, despite the other good reviews it's gotten. I figured it'd be a decent budget amp. But, boy was I wrong. This thing rocks. I've used many expensive rigs, and this thing is just as good if not better. The clean is very sweet, punchy, and warm, especially for a solid state. The distortion is great too. I'd highly recommend picking this thing up. Rather than spend a load of money on your rig, buy this thing and have some spare change left over. Hat's off to Randall!
