I got this amplifier (Randall RX120DHS) a couple months ago and I just played my first show with it and overall I'm pretty satisfied with it. It was so loud it drowned out the other guitarist in my band (that can be good or bad depending on how you look at it). The only real problems I have with this amp is its distortion and the digital effects. The distortion is pretty weak even compared to my mini Marshall. However, though that can be bad for the rhythm guitarist, I would suggest it for most lead guitarists with any skill for two reasons. 1, If you have any skill whatsoever as a soloist, you really don't need a whole mess of distortion to make you sound good. 2, too much distortion produces nasty overtones which can cramp your style. Also, the extra 100 bucks for all the effects is a rip. The reverb is good, but there is no way to change the timing on the delay and everything else sounds cheap. I suggest you get the cheaper model of this amp with just the reverb. Other than that so far I've been pretty happy with it, but I can't say you will be too, because it really depends what kind of music you play.

First off let me say I was really excited to get this amp. Im a huge fan of Dimebag Darrell, R.I.P. and I wanted to have that same Cowboys from Hell era tone. That tone thats thick and chunky but fast and clean. Since he used randall I thought I give it a try but I was very disppointed in this amp. Yea its loud but that doesn't make up for weak distortion and lame effects that you'll never use. My crate fxt combo amp is better than this piece of junk. This amps loud....but thats about it. You need ALOT of effects pedals to be able to get the sound you want from this thing if you like high gain distortion with no feedback. People who say it has great distortion and its the best amp they've had are saying that because its probably the only amp they've ever had. I'd buy this amp for my little niece to go with her Hello Kitty Strat, I need something with a more vulgur display of power, but thats just me.

    Amazing amp for little money!

I bought this amp a little under a month ago, and I've got to say that I'm not at all disappointed. The clean has beautiful tone, and the distortion side makes for a great adrenaline rush. I play on the amp every day, and no matter what I play- metal or classical- I'm always satisfied. It's definitely a great buy for a serious musician with little money to spend.

    dont get it

Yeah, very excited when I got it, very disapointed when I used it. The distortion on this amp is a joke, the tone sucks, and this amp seems to hate all and every pedal. Gonna sell this junk and save up to get something better, planning on getting a bugera amp to try it out. But yeah, don't buy this amp, bad distortiona and bad tone.

    Perfect for metal

    By Vile_Sickness

I decided to get this amp after i returned the crappy Marshall MG100HDFX/MG412 half stack. Like the title says, this amp is amazing for any type of heavy metal you play. I havent tried playing any other styles on it yet, but in my opinion the clean sounds pretty good. Unlike the Marshall, i was able to get my signature tone with it in 5 minutes, and it sounded amazing!

Great Amp-only one problem so far

I just bought this amp today and have played it for a few hours, and it is really great. I think I have an older model though because it has all the same buttons but they are moved around a tiny bit, especially the digital effects box and knobs on the head. The only problem I have found is that the numbers you select with the effects knob do not match up correctly with the list of effects with numbers next to them. Other than this minor problem, this amp is great! And very loud too!

    Rockin Half Stack

Randall RX120DHS. I absolutely love this amp. It has quite an amazing sound/tone. You can get quite a variety of tones out of it via the contour knob. It is a very loud amp as well. And, the clean channel is incredibly quiet! It sounds like the amp isnt even on. I do wish that it had a lead channel, so you could adjust the volumes, but thats alright. for the price this amp will rock your socks off. If your into metal, and you need something LOUD and cheap, this is your best bet. Ive messed around with the line 6 spider III, and that amp just seems to get too muddy. The Randall RX120DHS is definately the best amp for the price that i've found. Go Buy It NOW

This thing is really loud. Clean channel is great. Gain is a bit lacking. I play effects through clear channel so dont really use the effects or distortion on the amp. Really good solid build...great sound...great price..Go for it!

    Completely incredible!!

    By Travis Lance

This Randall half stack is awesome, I have been playing for 15 years and by far for the price this stack cannot be beat! I love it and I have not been dissapointed at all with it. I will have to agree though on the distortion I play a lot of metal and could be more of a punch but for what it is I have no complaints. I would defintely tell any of my friends or anyone to get this bad boy!

this amp sucks i used it and it sounded like crap the knobs fell off the first time i used it and gave off a terrible feedback. the magnets fell off the speakers and it gave off a high pitched noise that nearly blew my eardrums. If you are a serious player than don't buy the amp because it isn't worth the money
