I got this amplifier (Randall RX120DHS) a couple months ago and I just played my first show with it and overall I'm pretty satisfied with it. It was so loud it drowned out the other guitarist in my band (that can be good or bad depending on how you look at it). The only real problems I have with this amp is its distortion and the digital effects. The distortion is pretty weak even compared to my mini Marshall. However, though that can be bad for the rhythm guitarist, I would suggest it for most lead guitarists with any skill for two reasons. 1, If you have any skill whatsoever as a soloist, you really don't need a whole mess of distortion to make you sound good. 2, too much distortion produces nasty overtones which can cramp your style. Also, the extra 100 bucks for all the effects is a rip. The reverb is good, but there is no way to change the timing on the delay and everything else sounds cheap. I suggest you get the cheaper model of this amp with just the reverb. Other than that so far I've been pretty happy with it, but I can't say you will be too, because it really depends what kind of music you play.

First off let me say I was really excited to get this amp. Im a huge fan of Dimebag Darrell, R.I.P. and I wanted to have that same Cowboys from Hell era tone. That tone thats thick and chunky but fast and clean. Since he used randall I thought I give it a try but I was very disppointed in this amp. Yea its loud but that doesn't make up for weak distortion and lame effects that you'll never use. My crate fxt combo amp is better than this piece of junk. This amps loud....but thats about it. You need ALOT of effects pedals to be able to get the sound you want from this thing if you like high gain distortion with no feedback. People who say it has great distortion and its the best amp they've had are saying that because its probably the only amp they've ever had. I'd buy this amp for my little niece to go with her Hello Kitty Strat, I need something with a more vulgur display of power, but thats just me.

Perfect for metal

I decided to get this amp after i returned the crappy Marshall MG100HDFX/MG412 half stack. Like the title says, this amp is amazing for any type of heavy metal you play. I havent tried playing any other styles on it yet, but in my opinion the clean sounds pretty good. Unlike the Marshall, i was able to get my signature tone with it in 5 minutes, and it sounded amazing!

Amazing amp for little money!

I bought this amp a little under a month ago, and I've got to say that I'm not at all disappointed. The clean has beautiful tone, and the distortion side makes for a great adrenaline rush. I play on the amp every day, and no matter what I play- metal or classical- I'm always satisfied. It's definitely a great buy for a serious musician with little money to spend.

Great Amp For Little Cash

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

I got this stack because a lack of money. my Cube 60 Amp could not overpower my drumer, so i got the Randall RX120DHS and it's 120w power blasted over the drums so much that i had to turn it down to less than half way. the destortion that comes with the stack is good, but if you hook up a Digitech Metal Master destortion petal it sounds great

Rock 'N Roll Damnation

This amp is worth every penny so far. It has such good distortion I bypassed my processor. Crunchy, Dirty sound and you can tweak it out pretty far either way. Good muddy lows and bright crisp high end. Volume on level 2 is enough to be heard over my drum set. (just ask my neighbors!) You can easily get that heavy metal feedback no problem. I like the built in effects but it's easier to use my gnx if I want effects.

here is the deal

I bought this amp 2 months ago it has plenty of power for shows. The quality is great. the one problem is, the stock distortion sound sucks like most amps. some ------ ---- above said it sounds great. Yeah if you dont know what sounds good. I use A boss Metal zone now it has the right sound for metal. The clean channel is good also. This is a great amp for the money. Also make sure you use a good guitar with good pick ups not a piece of crap This also has to do with having a perfect sounding metal machine not like the suck --- bands today..

Excellent mid-price amp.

By Deathchill

from Iowa

I bought this amp as a stepping stone between a 60 watt amp and a Mesa, but I have to say, I've been impressed with this amp enough that I may not need a more expensive one. It has very good distortion, with flexible contouring from an industrial, mid-heavy tone to a pure metal high-end crunch and sustain. The clean channel is excellent, again with perfect EQ's for any style I want to play; both channels compliment my Carvin guitar perfectly. The effects are superb as well, giving some fun echoes, a good reverb & delay, and a clean, crisp flanger and chorus. Overall, I'd say this is one of the best >$1000 amps you can get. I'd recommend it highly to anyone else.

WOW!

By METALHEAD-mk73B

from Union City, MI

This amp really delivers! This thing has plenty of gain! If you like modern high-gain, this is all you need. It sounds so full! Some amps and pedals have too much distotion, and that makes your guitar sound horrible, and you can't hear the notes. With this amp,it has plenty of insane low end and great highs! This amp has so much power, and the onboard effects just make it even easier to use.
