OVERVIEW

Big, deadly, and totally equipped.

Designed with a simple, straight ahead
front panel layout and a shorter, less complex signal path, the Randall T2 Amp Head produces an extremely powerful, punishing tone. A true 3-mode amplifier, the T2 offers a wide range of tones to fit any playing style while seriously catering to those who hunger for gain.

A revolutionary power circuit called "Valve-Dynamic" is the engine that drives this new high-powered head. This tube driven MOSFET power section is driven by a 12AT7 for natural tube feel and compression, but the key to this power circuit is the accuracy in frequency response of a full 100W tube power amp, resulting in dynamic all-tube tone, feel, and response.

    T2 is great Metal amp

    By Tison

    from Havana il.

Comments about Randall T2 Amp Head:

Again not for everybody but for modern metal its the best Ive hear or played.
It doesnt have a ton of features but it has all it needs. This is a great metal amp. The clean channel is very clean certainly not the best cleans I ever hear but their clean and alot better than most metal amps. I have another amp to play the clean stuff anyway. The overdrive channel is good can go from rock to to lighter metal and can get some decent marshall type tones for 80's rock. I still would prefer a different amp for this type of stuff but it can do it if this is your only amp. Finally the boost channel is amazing. If you want heavy heavy metal for newer modern metal this is the best amp Ive ever played. I have tried a bugera 6260, a bugera 333xl, a peavey 5150, 6505, 6505plus a Peavey JSX. Several solid states, a line 6 vetta, a pod hd 500 through a tube amp and I have a traynor which is for lighter stuff like cleans and 80s metal, but when it comes to modern metal like killswitch engage or in flames or even bands like creed who use rectifiers this is the best Ive heard. I havent tried a dual rectifier because their always more than I want to pay, but I have a hard time believing that they would be better than the t2. The t2 is tons better than the 6505/5150. I dont care what anybody says. With or without a boost the 6505 never gets as tight as this can get and never gets the punch this thing can get. If you want it to it can thump right through you. Granted I just got it so you can say its a honeymoon period or whatever but I dont ever remember liking the jsx or 5150 or any of the others as well as I like this. You have to play with the sweep control and the density and prescence alot for each guitar because this amp can sound like many different amps with the controls and I havde 4 guitars in different tunings with different pickups and all required totally different settings to sound good on the amp but once I got them dialed in they all sounded fabulous for metal. I gave it an 8 for features because as I said the clean channel is average and the od channel is good but not spectacular.(I want my od channel to sound like 80s crunch and this amp will sound decent for that type of stuff but its no where near as good as my traynor ycv50 blue for that marshall cruch but again its decent if its your only amp). So thats why it gets an 8 but I think if you buy this amp you buy it for one thing and thats the boost channel and the boost channel is fabulous. I used it with and without a tubescreamer and it sounds great both ways but for the first time I have an amp that I prefer without the tubescreamer in front. If you want a modern metal amp I suggest you buy this one now. Again I havent played them all you may want to try Mesa etc but I have a very hard time believing they can top this for tight heavy chest thumping metal. I have hear the mesa is somewhat loose and I dont want that I want tight heavy bass and the t2 has it.
Im giving it a 9 because I just got it, it works great and seems to be built very well but how can you rate quality until you know how it holds up over time.
Im giving it a 10 because it is fantastic at modern metal which in my opinion is what it is designed for. If you want the most versatile amp on the market this probably isnt it but it is very versatile at covering modern metal, and the clean channel is very clean and with a few effects sounds good. So you get a decent clean with the best metal Ive heard.

    Randall T2

    By Diego Rocha

    from Bogota, Colombia

Comments about Randall T2 Amp Head:

I bought the T2 and have been using it for around 5 months; it has everything you expect from a metal amp-head, very thick sound, it's density control adds a awesome low-end that makes you feel the low frecuencies kick you in the stomach specially when palm muting. I run it through a Randall RV412-100 cab and it sounds amazing, they say that the ideal thing is to run it through a XL cab but i'm more than satisfied with what i got; i record a lot with it and i can say for sure that this will get you a super proffesional guitar sound with no effort, from rock to death metal.

    I just finished...

    By Wookieslayer

    from Los Angeles

Comments about Randall T2 Amp Head:

Seriously... the first time I turned on the gain channel my jaw dropped. Gain is very articulate and clear and sounds just badass. You could describe it somewhere between a 5150 and a Dual Rec but different because while it shares some qualities in power and roar... it's a different beast because it is tighter and can snarl any which way you choose depending on how you set the knobs. The mid sweep knob is very useful and can help you find the metal tone you're looking for. All three channels are really great. Pretty warm cleans and nice classic to metal distortion on the green channel, but when you boost it into the red channel... OMG YES! Nice compression and tight gain and you can hear all the notes even when you start to crank up that gain knob!Highly recommend this amp for those looking for straight in your face, metal tone. Handles lows extremely well and has a nice sizzling top end but doesn't get fizzy or harsh. Throw a nice noise gate like the ISP decimator in and you'll have tight staccoto riffs. Throw an EQ pedal in the loop and you can tweak for fine-tuning, although that's not even needed. If you're thinking of going solid state... save your money for this... if you like the warmth of tubes but like the tightness and reliability of solid state, I recommend you check one of these babies out. It works great for low tunings too.I purchased this amp used and couldn't be happier. Can't wait to buy the footswitch so I can make full use of the MIDI capabilities and use the FX loop and channels more efficiently during jams.

    T2 Stands for Tight

    By Wshburndime1

    from Upstate

Comments about Randall T2 Amp Head:

The T2 is an incredible product for the price. Beats out Mesa Rectifiers, in price and qualty.very tight and punchy tone, Deep low end, yet good highs and lower mids. Easy to find a killer sound really quick. It took me like 10 minutes to tune in to my pleasing. This is my tube amp as well. I am completely pleased with Randall's amplifiers, Solid.

    Sounds Good

    By Jacksonguitardude

    from somewhere

Comments about Randall T2 Amp Head:

I own the T2. I enjoy the sound very much. Tubelike yes. Though I never really cared. I use my ears to find what sounds good. And trust me this thing is thick. Very thick tone. Its also very middy keep in mind. I run a mxr 10-band in the loop and that smoothes it out. Though there is still a hefty amount of mids in there with the sliders almost all the way down (V pattern). Also very bass heavy. You'll have to roll off quite a bit compared to whatever amp your currently using.2 channels, the Randall on Overdrive/boost channel is a very big sounding amp. Very natural soundingtheres no a ridiculous amount of gain on tap like a Peavey 6505. but theres enough I can play death metal on the thing and it sounds awesome. Ahh yes I forgot to mention its very tight especially with an EQ in the loop. I dont use any sort of boosters or compressors in front of it because it takes away from the thickness. Overall its a great amp, I use it mainly for metal but I think it can handle more for sure.

    Randall T2: another winner!!!

    By Gerry-yIPHJ

    from Chula Vista, CA

Comments about Randall T2 Amp Head:

bought this last month--it rips!!! the all-tube preamp section sounds pretty warm--not SS-sounding at all--the clean channel is pristine, nice and round--the OD channel has enough gain on-tap to cover most styles--I only engage this boost during solos/instrumental breaks. My only harp is that I wish there was separate EQ sections for each channel--nevertheless, this is a awesome RAWK machine!!!
