This is a really good sounding cabinet. The cabinet has an amazing clean sound and is versatile in letting one transition from crystal clean to blues, rock death metal or what ever your amp can dish out (I use a Mesa Boogie Tri Axis). The cabinet is big/oversized. The 15 inch speaker covers the extra low range of my 7 string guitar nicely. I also use a 4x12 Mesa Boogie, with 4 v30s and think they blend together nicely. The Boogie cabinet is not as clean but equally sweet. The RS125xl like the RS125cx is not as loud as the straight 4x12 so I need to turn it up 20% more to equal the volume. My recommendation is to use the RS125XL with a 4x12 with v30s, although it isn?t necessary. I originally had the RS125cx and I could not hear a difference, however the eminence 12 do not have the same freq range as the v30s so may distort more? The RS125cx is the same cab with lower end 16ohm 12s; I switched to Celestion 8ohm v30s and wired it parallel/series.
I bought a RS125XL about two years ago. I love it!! It has great sound and will get very loud!! The 15' eminence speaker just sets off the vintage 30s in it. I would encourage anyone to get one of these cabs!!
