I've been using the large board for 6 years now... and it looks it. The aluminum is beat, but no punctures. One of the feet came off the lid section, but fortunately not the board. It doesn't look pretty after the first couple shows, but it works very well.

I've looked at other budget boards that are cheaper and seem to be of similar quality, but they didn't have the feet on the board. The feet help keep the board from sliding around on a stage quite well. This is important, as a sliding board can a) make it more challenging to stomp on pedals, and b) become a safety hazard. Also, the budget boards say they use double-sided tape. The floor on this holds Velcro VERY WELL as-is. You only need the hook side of the Velcro. There's some included, but I'd get some industrial Velcro brand strips from any hardware store.

Seems like a cheaply made pedalboard, but mine's gone through hell and back. The lid is high enough that I keep all my cables in there when I'm transporting (18' guitar cable, 30' guitar cable, speaker cables for 2 amps, power cable for one amp, extension cable for the OneSpot, and I keep my mic stand pick holder in there).

I like the lift-off lid design way better than the PedalTrain that have the lift-out board. Seems like a pain, and you're moving more stuff around than necessary. I shy away from pedalboards with built-in power supplies as they are heavier, and if the power section goes, you just have an over-weight board. It's also the lightest pedalboard I've ever had.

I never had any problems with the "thin aluminum." Sure mine has dings and dents in it, but I've used it for two years and none of my pedals have been damaged. One thing that annoyed me is that the lip on bottom of the pedalboard (where your pedals lay) is too high. The beginning and end of my effects loop have to be at least 3-4 inches away from the edges for the 1/4" to fit without being bent. I guess the easy alternative would be just to buy some right angle cables, but I already forked out $100 between my Monster Cables before I got the board. That said, this is the cheapest board I've found that includes a hardshell case. But if I could do it again, I'd probably get a Road Rage or LYT pedalboard

Good for the hobbyist or weekend musician!

Comments about Road Runner Effects Pedal Board:

This pedalboard is good for an occasional traveling musician. I would feel okay traveling with this case. It has nice butterfly locks and plenty of padding. My only complaint is that when you take the lid off, the border around the pedalboard is just as deep as the lid. You kind of have to step over the border to select your pedal. I think it can get tricky. in other words, it's kind of bulky. Other than that, I would recommend this for the occasinal traveling musician or hobbyist.

I think this is an excellent piece of accesorie for your pedals, normally the pedaltrain would be the normal pick por a guitarrist, but after i bought the roadrunner i ended up very happy, works perfectly and it looks good too, i really recomend it.

Find Something Else

Comments about Road Runner Effects Pedal Board:

I bought the smaller version of this case a few months ago to upgrade from a smaller homemade board that I was bringing to gigs in an old backpack. This looked like the perfect solution. It was the right size for the handful of pedals I use and it looks sharp. The only problem I've had with this case is that it's simply too flimsy for consistent use. After one 45-minute show using this board the side facing me was completely bent. I couldn't replace the lid until I manually bent it back into shape. It's only gotten worse with every show. I'm not a heavy pedal user, I use them primarily for solos so the bending isn't from rough use - the sides are just not strong enough. As a temporary solution, this case is good enough but if you're going to use this case/board several times a week (or even once a week) for a longterm you'd be better off saving your money and getting something sturdier.

Comments about Road Runner Effects Pedal Board:

I have had this pedal board for years, and it has withstood a lot. I have brought it to many shows and withstood abuse at college from roommates borrowing it and people stepping on it. It is pretty beat up, however I bought this so that way the board would be beat up, not my pedals. I love this product, and am planning on buying another one to store my bass pedals in as I have one now for my guitar pedals.

Comments about Road Runner Effects Pedal Board:

I have the large one and the aluminum sheet metal is very thin(yes like soda can), The aluminum edges/corners are good. I actually drilled out the pop-rivits and used the thin aluminum as a templete and cut out galvanize steel sheet metal(the stuff they make duct work with) and them put it back together. It's SUPER strong now. I like projects but the ones I pick... not get stuck with. Save your money and buy something that isn't flimsy

Comments about Road Runner Effects Pedal Board:

I have read a LOT of reviews about how 'low quality' it is, but I must have gotten a good one or something. First things first: it's good quality. It is sturdy, has been sturdy for almost a year since I got it. I took it on tour with me to Cali and back, from Seattle. Has been really nice, keeps my pedals exactly how I left them last, and is sure as hell better than setting all of them (a volume, a wah, a distortion, an overdrive, and a multi-effects) up by hand.

Comments about Road Runner Effects Pedal Board:

This case is a very strong, well made case. I have been using it for aout six months, draggng it around and throwing it in and out of trucks. It has gotten a little dinged up, but has kept my pedal board for my half stack very secure. The velcro holds the pedal in pace and overall works how it is supposed to. It is just a case, not a powered pedal board, but for protection for you investments in sound, it is well worth the money

Good Pedal Board

By Telepicker20

Comments about Road Runner Effects Pedal Board:

Just received this pedal board today so I can't say anything about how it holds up over time. I will write a new review though if something goes wrong. First off, I ordered the small. When I opened the box, I was surprised at how large the small was!!! I did double check and it is in fact the small. I suppose it is an excuse to get a couple more pedals!!! This seems sturdy and looks really nice. It would be nice if it had a little bit of an angle to it, but I'm ok with the way it is. One downfall may be that the ridge is a little high to run the cable out, but if you place the pedal far enough from the edge it's ok. There is plenty of velcro included and it seems to hold pretty good. It has rubber on the bottom so it stays nice and secure on the floor. I think it may be overpriced a bit, but all pedal boards are. I think it is one of the better lower priced pedal boards. Overall, good item and it looks great. I would recommend it.

Not too shabby...

By Paul-dLMFG

Comments about Road Runner Effects Pedal Board:

Only gripe...you have to use right angle plugs for input & output, as the sides of the pedalboard are too high (jacks on the pedals are lower, so a straight cord won't work unless you leave a lot of space for it.)But otherwise its great. I have a wah, 2 overdrives, a phaser, tuner, H20 & boost pedal all on there nicely. Light weight too.

Comments about Road Runner Effects Pedal Board:

My guitarist was building up a collection of pedals and I finally dragged him over to the music store to get a pedalboard. We looked at all of them, and this one was the cheapest. These don't have a built in power supply, which is fine by me, because with a built in, if it dies on you, you have that extra dead weight, and have to get a 1 spot or daisy chain setup anyway. The case seems like one of those made-to-look sturdy cases, but so far it's holding up great. The butterfly latches are great, and it's quite light.I liked the one my guitarist bought so much, I got one for myself to replace the homemade pedalboard that I've been lugging around for years. With the pedals, the new one is 1/3 the weight. You'd be hard pressed these days to make a homemade board without it costing more then these.

Pedalboard Simplicity

By Dave-DNA

See all my reviews

Comments about Road Runner Effects Pedal Board:

I bought one of these to replace my homemade pedalboard I'd been lugging around for years. The price was reasonable at the old sale price, but with the price drop, it's definitely worth purchasing. The best design for a pedalboard is one where you set it down, take off the top, and you're ready to go, and that's how this one works. Higher priced boards don't always work this smooth. The Furman and SKB cost more and use a gigbag, which never made sence to me. This isn't a powered pedalboard, but the powered ones can have the power supplies give out, and then you have a board with a lot of dead weight. I recommend taking the money you save on this unit, and getting a 1 Spot kit for the pedals. My guitarist and I both have the large size Road Runners, and its a great overall size. Plus we have enough room for all the cables we need for our rigs right inside, making setup time exceptionally quick. I keep my wireless transmitter in mine as well, so I only worry about the one guitar cable, and one extension cable for the 1 Spot, and I'm good to go.

Comments about Road Runner Effects Pedal Board:

Ok. I bought this as an alternative to my large pedal board. This one could possibly support two rows of 4 dod/boss sized pedals. A little tight on the input/output ports if you use standard straight 1/4" jacks. Velcro provided and like all Velcro, sticks real well until the case gets tossed around in the van a bit, the everything comes loose and when you open it you are greeted with a ball of pedals & cables. Yay.
It could use a 1/2" step on the back row. My feet are pretty clumsy and the lift would help me zero in on that tiny on/off switch. The case seems a bit flimsy against my ATA cases. I also have the roadrunner 7 guitar case... It's the same. Low level short lifespan stuff. Will work until I sort out what I need & have a custom case made. Not a bad product for the money.
