A very affordable, professional volume pedal.

Rocktron's HEX Expression Volume Pedal is a multi-function pedal that can be used both as a volume pedal and as an expression pedal with a large variety of processors and MIDI controllable equipment. The design of the pedal allows you to use a simple stereo-to-stereo cable for expression connection, minimizing cable use on stage.

An adjustable rocker tension screw allows you to adjust the pedal action for a lighter or heavier touch.

The expression jack accepts a 1/4" stereo RTS cable and lets you plug into the expression port in your MIDI footcontroller or your expression port in your MIDI controllable device and thus operate the HEX as a MIDI expression pedal.

Use the input and output jacks to function as a standard volume pedal. The output jack accepts a standard guitar cable and lets you plug the HEX output into the next effect in your effect chain or directly into the input of your guitar amplifier.

      Best Uses

Comments about Rocktron Hex Expression Volume Pedal:

I like this pedal but have just a couple gripes, nothing to warrant returning it.
The enclosure and footboard definitely feel well built and could take anything you could reasonably dish out. The sound is good with a decent threshold and sweep to the action. I do feel a very slight loss of highs.
What I don't like is that I had to do some adjusting after I got it. At apartment volumes I noticed some sound leak with the pedal fully closed and I had to get in there to adjust the pot, it wasn't difficult just annoying that it wasn't good to go.
My other complaint is that the jacks are perpetually loose. I'll snug them up and after a few uses they'll seem loose again. They always seem to grip tightly I wouldn't worry much about them cutting out. I do like that there is a bolt to adjust the action but on mine it has to be completely tight to avoid slippage.
Overall I do like it and think it will last a long time but if it were lost I wouldn't have too many qualms about trying something else. I've never used another brand, from what I've read they all have their quirks.

        Sturdy pedal

Comments about Rocktron Hex Expression Volume Pedal:

The Rocktron HEX is probably one of the sturdier volume/expression pedals in it's price range, because it's made primarily of metal. It's also fairly functional for it's price, because it can be used both as a volume pedal and an expression pedal. Unfortunately, the pedal's sweep is very non-linear, and has a hard to control jump from silent to sound at it's bottom range, which makes it almost unusable for controlling a wah or whammy effect. The pedal uses a 250 kOhm pot, but mine must have been slightly less because the pedal did not go all the way to full value when used as an expression controller with a DigiTech RP70. Because of these problems, I would suggest it as a volume pedal, but not so much as an expression pedal.

        Really nicely built

Comments about Rocktron Hex Expression Volume Pedal:

I use a Line6 Pod XT LIve and I was looking for an great expression pedal to use in conjunction with my current equipment. It did not work well as an expression pedal since this was midi but it works really well as a volume pedal. I was going to send it back but after seeing the quality of this item and the great feel it has when using it, I decided to keep it. I was going to buy the Line6 expression pedal but it's made of plastic and I didn't like that at all. Basically it's a great well built item and I would buy another one. My complete setup is a Line6 Pod XT Live, Line6 Flextone III Combo, 2 Fender Strats, Monster cables and this pedal.

        Built like a TANK!

Comments about Rocktron Hex Expression Volume Pedal:

I'm using the HEX as an expression pedal - it replaced a Yamaha pedal that I've had since '91. Most of the controllers out now are flimsy plastic jobs, that you KNOW from feeling are going to last about 3/4 of the way through a gig.Rocktron got this SO right. The contour is perfect (both as a volume control and as an expression pedal). But it really comes down to HEFT for me, and this thing is going to last me at LEAST the same 16+ years as I got out of my old controller.THANK YOU Rocktron,
