Rocktron expands the controller universe by adding a floor version of the PatchMate Loop 8.

The Rocktron PatchMate Loop 8 guitar floor switcher provides 8 discrete loops all with True Bypass. The PatchMate Loop 8 also delivers both buffered and non-buffered signal paths, and 128 programmable presets with real time control using its 9 high-quality metal foot switches.

The 8 loops are configurable for multiple purposes including Channel switching, effects loops, guitar routing and more. The Rocktron stompbox adds preset programmability along with pedal True Bypass to any standard pedal board with ease.

The PatchMate Loop 8 Floor is easy to set up and program with real-time user controls. Program the unit from the top panel using the switches. Recall the first eight user presets using the eight onboard footswitches or access a total of 128 presets using external MIDI program changes. External MIDI Continuous Controllers add the ability to trigger loops externally.

The Rocktron PatchMate Loop 8 Floor supports intelligent latching and momentary switch sensing, which allows the user to use any MIDI continuous controller number without any other programming effort.

The PatchMate Loop 8 Floor has buffered Active and Passive inputs, with passive/active and active outputs on the back. It can be set to any MIDI channel, and is programmable from the top panel as well as configured for use on any of 16 banks of controllers via the top panel switches.

The MIDI In/Out/Thru jack makes the Rocktron PatchMate an ideal addition to any floor setup, providing programmable presets, 8 loops with true bypass, real time control, and external loop capability to your pedal board. And as if that weren't enough, by using Rocktron's Smart Controller Technology, the PatchMate Loop 8 Floor switcher works for momentary amplifier switching.

Comments about Rocktron PatchMate Loop 8 Guitar Floor Audio Switcher:

I had seen reviews that talked about "noise issues", and I was concerned, but I solved all of them by applying good pedal rig building principals. Building my own good quality cable (30 of them) solved some of the noise issues, and finally using a good quality isolated power supply (1spot pro c12) solved the rest, in, fact, improved the sound of my pedals, in particular, the EHX LBP-1 booster which now sound proper and breaks up nicely, did not before and was about to get rid of it. Using the patchmate also solved problems with pops when switching an old vibe pedal, the EHX fuzz, and solved weird "warm up time" issues I had with a soviet EHX phaser, which I love, now it's always on. Having the option to use either buffered input or not is great, seems it depends on the amp and situation whether or not it helps to use it, some amps don't seem to like it, in my amp it works both ways. It's so awesome to have presets in the analog world, this loop switcher is a dream come true as it works exactly the way that I play, returning to loop mode after selecting a preset is best for me as I like to had and remove "layers". I love that each loop has a dedicated button, can't stand the idea of having only 4 buttons for 8 pedals like some of the competing models, but I would like more then 8 presets, so a bank up button would have been nice and simple to add... I have ordered the midi xchange to have access to more presets, not sure if I will love it or not. It's impressive how flexible each loop is, you could dream any type of rig, insert anything anywhere, and it would work... the way I happen to use it for now is simple, but I have all those options. For the price I think it has better features then the competition, if it had a bank up button, maybe also tuner out, it would be absolutely the best. I understand that sending midi controls would bump it in the more expensive range, so I guess it's a compromise, I don't use midi at the moment but it might be nice in the future.

Comments about Rocktron PatchMate Loop 8 Guitar Floor Audio Switcher:

I was on market for switcher with NO price limit (reasonable) and went for this ABSOLUTE BEAST.
I have rather complex stereo NON-rack rig with midi clock and few midi devices. This is heart of my pedal board, i LOVE it. When i reading comments about it - FACEPALM..
I think people should think more before they blame professional routing equipment.

For very tough brained guys: NO IT'S not SWITCHING midi channels\program. it only receives and passes thru them.

And it's good, in years i've understood that MIDI switcher must be different unit from looper because it must be packed and complicated itself and have at least 7-8 midi only buttons. Together with looper that would be a A)Limited functionality (as G-lab) or B) Insanely HUGE heavy and, as result, fragile.

1. Patchmate loop 8 floor + midi switcher is UNBEATABLE combo. Just look at PROS. I really couldn't imagine all possibilities before i started to get into deep.
Stereo pedals - no problem (just use 2 loops each). 1xIN 2xOUT pedal - no problem, because of signal splitting. Separate tuner out - no problem. Some pedals BEFORE preamp section, some AFTER in EF. loop - no problem. Pluggable Stereo (if you need only with certain effects) to separate amp - yep. Switching amps that receives impulses for CH.SWITCHING (if I'm saying correct) - no problem, With one of my amps, Orange, I can switch all effects BEFORE preamp, AFTER in ef.loop, amp Channel and Reverb just only with one press on patchmate, and leaves me possibility to have Guitar to Amp direct tone with nothing in Line if needed.
ENDLESS possibilities.
That's all BECAUSE loops are not wired internally .Think of it is just 8 different loop boxes in one cabinet. WAY MORE VERSATILE than pre-wired switchers.

Also i Have to mention HQ buffer with signal splitting (1xIN, 2xOUT). And also you can use it absolutely independent from loops itself. If you want to go Guitar->Fuzz->BUFFER->Wah->drive->Loops with effects->preamp->loops with effects->amp.

On 1 rig I've even set-up Patchmate for 2nd guitarist also) We had few pedals, but I could switch both amps and all his and mine effects with one press, And he walked like a real star on stage without bothering about swithcing;-)
This is so far one of the most deeply designed products that I've tried and priced GREATLY!

For critics - this is a floor version of highly acclaimed by tech's rack version, what itself means it's NOT ONLY for turning ON\OFF your few pedals.

First I thought to go rack version, but a) I don't have\need one b) I do need to make some switching on pedalboard during rig.

ONE more COOL thing is that in normal Mode (from the box) Patchmate after switching to preset goes into "loop mode" where you can turn on\off certain loop within preset.
I know a lot people blamed it but, as designed for ext. midi switcher at first place it gives you ability to not re-program all preset if just need to kick in Wah or 2nd self oscillated delay within your beloved preset. SAVES A LOT OF TIME.
And yes, with firmware v2.0 you CAN disengage this feature for one-press preset change.

Other drawback described-LEDs are showing loops engaged, not # of preset. I'm also fine with that as I always can hear preset by TONE and have label on midi switcher, but sometimes need to SEE what's engaged in that preset. 2 rows of LEDs would be misleading for me.

REAL drawback is that market got some pcs WITHOUT GROUND LOOP (AT ALL!!). That's A SHAME for rocktron. It has been solved - my friend grabbed good one (long after me) and i've got defected one.
But i fixed it within 40 min and didn't return/ And I'm really noob in electronics. As i guess the problem (don't be mad at me if this is stupid) is that factory has been changed jacks to ISOLATED from frame, what is good, but they didn't make separate ground loop. I simply soldered wire to one of screws and connected to every jacks. 2 or 3 years passed and it still works flawlessly. There's NO noise difference between guitar to amp and thru patchmate. Don't know how rocktron solved it, because my friend is a nerd and didn't allowed to open his newer patchmate

Also, have to mention cool feature - powering thru midi. one adapter less for my midi mate.

In the end have to say - great durability, SUPER strong and tough switches. It's been dropped, it's been poured with plenty of water (Stoooopid singer) but never let me down.

So I would definitely recommend it over (tried) voodoo lab, G-lab, Octaswitch and other devices - more versatile, packed with features and cheaper.

Cannot give anything but 5 stars even considering that I've bought de-facto defected unit.

Thanks for ones that've got here ;-) \m/

Comments about Rocktron PatchMate Loop 8 Guitar Floor Audio Switcher:

I play lead guitar and back up vocal harmonies so tap dancing is really tough. This thing makes life easy. one button to shut every pedal you activated or use it to get pedals out of your chain. Totally programable and i didn't even read manual and figured it out in no time at all. Love it. Can be controlled by an external midi controler so you can get the best of both worlds is you so desire.

Comments about Rocktron PatchMate Loop 8 Guitar Floor Audio Switcher:

I bought this thing based on the claims that there it is a seemless, transparent loop system. Wrong. The loop adds noise even if there is nothing plugged into the system. It also drains the signal in the normal input. The buffered input just increases the noise.

Not a good product for a pro system.
