Alright, this was the first pedal i ever bought. I got it around a year or so ago. When i first got it i thought it was the greatest because all i had was a bass amp so yay rah for a distorion finally. Then I got a guitar amp and i decided it sucked and i bought a dunlop pedal, then a digitech one, then a dano one. But none were ever as nifty as the rampage. Then i got a bigger 212 amp and the distortion on it is amazing but it just doesn't have the harmonic response of the rocktron one. So once again after 12 or 13 months and about several other pedals, I'm back to the rampage. If you have it and dont like it, it is probably because you're setting your amp eq a little to hot, ya know. Roll off the treble and then the rampage will sound good. Takes some tweakin but you'll get it. Nothing compres to its response, presence, gain, and palm-muting-ability. It's the best. I can't wait to try out the other rocktron pedals that just came out. But anyway, this little thing has been through hell. Toughest pedal i have ever laid eyes on. She's not a gonna break. Anyway this is a good one. The only drawback is it's kind of a niche pedal. It has like a good full on distortion sound but that's it. No smooth overdrive or light dirt or whatever, so it may not be your cup of tea. But if you are looking for a solid quality distorion, then this is it.

I know a lot of people that really like this pedal, but I bought one on sale (about 1/3 list price) and I am still disappointed. I should have asked to try it out first, but instead I took a friend's word that it was good. I think it does the job that a distortion pedal should do, but personally I just don't like the tone. I guess it's just a matter of taste. Also, maybe it's just my head, but on my trans-tube it really squeals and gives almost uncontrollable feedback if the "sustain" setting is turned up hardly at all past 1/4 of the way. I'd really be wary unless you have a good noise gate.

    BUY THIS PEDAL!!!

Comments about Rocktron Rampage Distortion Pedal:

I just bought this pedal today at a local shop. I have to say, it was incredible. It was used, so it had the old chasis, which I think is cooler looking and more sturdy, and it sounded the exact same as the new one they had. The lack of a gain knob doesn't bother me because by turning the sustain down also turns the gain down a little bit. It is absolutely terrible if you want it for blues, but for a more edgy classic rock sound, Led Zeppelin for example, it is awesome. You want classic Heavy Metal, Judas Priest or Iron Maiden for example, you can get amazingly heavy tones that are perfect. Anything else other than blues, if you just mess with it a little bit, it is absolutely perfectBUY THIS PEDAL!

    RAMPAGE

Comments about Rocktron Rampage Distortion Pedal:

This is a great distortion pedal.Who needs a gain knob? Most good distortions don't have one(the electro-harmonix big muff for example). The EQ is nice but could have been a little better.Overall its a great tone for any distorted music, but it DOES get a little too much gain for 80's type metal/rock.

pretty good pedal, but could be better

    By Bloodred

Comments about Rocktron Rampage Distortion Pedal:

After buying a used Digitech "Death Metal" pedal that sounded terrible, I wanted a better distortion pedal. My roomate had a Digitech "Metal Master" that sounded great, but I wanted to try something different so I bought this. On its own it sounds better than the "Death Metal" pedal did, and it can produce some nice classic rock light distortion, but if the gain is turned up too much there's a lot of white noise. Also, the sustain is nice, but if the treble and sustain are both up at 75% with any gain at all, high notes produce a barely audible crackle that can be annoying if you let the note ring. Nevertheless, after a lot of tweaking of my amp's EQ and the settings on my pedals, this thing sounds great. It takes a lot of tweaking to find the right settings, but once you do, this pedal has a nice crunch to it that sounds great for power chords, and high notes sound beautiful. It still seems to lack bass on lower notes, but highs and mids sound great. In my opinion, this pedal is best suited for some metal leads (Iron Maiden, older Metallica, some Pantera, etc) and it sounds fairly nice for classic rock if you turn down the gain. However, if you play a lot of very heavy stuff with a lot of bass, I would reccommend the Digitech Metal Master instead (the Rocktron pedal sounds lame with a 7-string).

The BEST distortion i've ever had

Comments about Rocktron Rampage Distortion Pedal:

First i heard it on the sample in the Rocktron official site, then i bought it used, and as now it's my favourite distortion, the best I've ever tried (comparing with Boss,Zoom,Behringer,ecc).. it's great for heavy riffs, not if you're looking for a blues sound as overdrives... I just LOVE it anyway. Listen in the Rocktron official site,if you like that sample buy it,it has the same perfect sound (I use it with an AVT Marshall).

    Not too bad, Not Great.

    By Riziger

Comments about Rocktron Rampage Distortion Pedal:

Got this pedal some time ago. I was persuaded that it was really good. At first I thought it was ok. Good for rocking out, good for lead. But there's where the problem is. U get only distortion and nothing but that, I can't believe that It dosnt have a Gain or Distortion control. Can't do overdrive and stuff like that. Also It gets a bit fuzzy and starts to lack a bit of punch when turned up. It's loud when I play the treble strings but when I go back to power chords, it suddenly seems to lack power. It's not a bad pedal, But i think there are better out there.

Comments about Rocktron Rampage Distortion Pedal:

I've been on a crusade to find a great distortion pedal for a low price, and I'm still sure they've priced this thing wrong. I play varied genres of music, incl. metal and classic rock, and this thing can be tuned to get the precise sound you want, out of any amp. It's only con is that it might be a little aggressive for some types of music, but it hasn't failed for me yet. Truly one of Rocktron's best!

    Ramage Review

    By Fugg_Watts

    from Texas

Comments about Rocktron Rampage Distortion Pedal:

This pedal is one of those pedals that if you turn it all the way up, all you hear is noise. The sustain is good and it has a wide range of features. It's pretty big but has a good sound to it. It has feedback but not too much. I like feedback but that's just me. If your one of those people who like a crunky, raunchy, heavy sort of sound, this one might be for you.

Comments about Rocktron Rampage Distortion Pedal:

This is definitely one of the best metal distortion pedals out there. I am in a somewhat hard rock band and t is easier to use then previous pedals I have played and it sounds great. Defenitely a great buy. Best pedal I have played so far.
