This little amp is something else! The quality of construction leaves nothing to be desired! The small size may tend to put some people off, but it has a very big sound! The built in chorus is stereo, and is great sounding. Unfortunately the reverb (Spring Tank) is very low in volume, almost nonexistant. But that doesn't bother me much because I have effects pedals that have wonderful reverb and echo. Some have said the distortion channel is not very good, however I have found it to be very good. The control setup is well thought out, it has gain and level controls for each channel. The tone controls work on both channels. I would compare the volume and sound of this little amp with a twin 12 inch combo like the Fender Twin Reverb. In 1964 I tested a small Magnatone amp with two 8 inch drivers(speakers) and "Stereo Vibrato", the only amp in it's time with real "Vibrato"! I loved the sound of that little amp, but was afraid of the small speakers. I bought a Fender Bandmaster(Seperate amp and speaker cab) instead. I have been sorry ever since that I didn't get the Magnatone! If you don't play huge venues and high volumes, this little amp is probably what you need. I recommend it highly with no hesitation.
Got the amp today and it had a bad speaker. Looked inside the box and there was the return ticket from previous user that returned it. Said "didn't like amp". I didn't either with a bad speaker. I love the amp when the speakers are good. This is my second one. Need to check returns more closely fellers and I'm pay you full price for an amp, I don't expect somebodys return, I expect one in a factory sealed box unless I order a used one. I been with you all over 12 years and deserve new merchandise. No doubt it will be returned and have to wait another 4 or 5 days to play it now.
I was looking for a new amp a few years ago and was thinking about going with a Hughes and Kettner (the store I went to sold a lot of them.) but then I saw this and I tried it out too. it was less then the HnK i was looking at and it defiantly packed a punch. Other amps I've heard up to then...you just hear them. This one was there. I think the effects are kinda lame (compared to my boss me50 I use so its on clean anyway) if I don't have my pedal, I'll just turn the gain on the distortion channel up all the way, then max the reverb and chorus depth but leave the rate on 0. you get a crunchy, boomy phaser sound. It's really cool. I defiantly would recommend this amp to anyone wanting something to jam on in there room or with their friends. Try to get an effects pedal tho.
Just received my V50C and I'm very impressed. Sounds like a much bigger amp. In fact, I'm having a bit of a problem keeping it toned down volume-wise.The only downside I see in this amp is the reverb. Maybe it's just my amp, but I have to turn the reverb up all the way to get the effects a 2 or 3 will get on other amps. So I see the reverb as a little weak.Chorus is great, concert hall sound.A great little amp.
I am really enjoying this amp. It has an excellent clean channel with plenty of punch. The distortion is great if you like that kind of thing. The chorus and reverb work very well. Solid construction, the logo looks amazing(the way it lights up).
