Roger Linn Design

A smorgasbord of effects in one unit.

AdrenaLinn III from Roger Linn Design is a beat-synced multi-effects processor for guitar, keyboard or bass that combines 3 products in one:

1) A beat-synched multi-effects processor with exclusive Filter Sequencer

What are beat-synched filter effects? Examples include tremolo, auto-pan, filter tremolo, flanger, chorus, rotary, vibrato and more, all in perfect synch to the internal drumbeats or to MIDI clock. That out-of-synch tremolo on your guitar amp won't seem as useful anymore. Plus you get innovative new effects including:

• Random filtering, flanging or tremolo—like a wah pedal that instantly switches to a new random position on every 1/8 or 1/16 note in sync to the beat. Or a flanger that switches to a new random frequency every 1/8 or 1/16 note. Or a tremolo in which each pulse level is randomly chosen, adding a syncopated rhythm to even simple chords.

• Filter sequences: Looped 2-measure rhythmic sequences of filter tones in sync to the beat or to MIDI. Choose one of the preset sequences or program your own. A great idea generator.

• Tremolo sequences: Looped 2-measure sequences of programmed volume pulses. Like that used in Green Day's "Boulevard of Broken Dreams".

• Arpeggio Sequences: Looped 2-measure sequences of tuned resonances, as used in John Mayer's "Bigger Than My Body".

• Delay Loops: Set the beat-synced delay to 1 full measure, then jam with yourself by playing chords over the first bar and solo over them on the next.

You also get note-triggered filter effects like Auto-Wah, Talk Box simulator, Guitar Synth sounds, plus stereo reverb, compression, tuner and a completely transparent noise gate. And AdrenaLinn III's filters are warm and very analog-sounding with emulations of classic Moog and Oberheim synthesizer filter designs.

2) A superb amp modeler

40 superb models of vintage and modern guitar amps from Fender, Marshall, VOX, Mesa Boogie and more, including 4 classic bass amps. Plus distortion boxes and a warm tube preamp emulation.

3) A programmable drum machine

A great-sounding programmable drum machine with 200 drumbeats from rock, pop, reggae, Brazilian, techno, hip hop, jazz and more, using over 40 well-sampled drum sounds. Run the drums through the amps and beat-synched filter processing for inspiring processed beats.

• Easy to use.

Just select a preset and play. To adjust any of the front panel settings, simply press the UP or DOWN arrow buttons to light the light next to it, then turn the knob above it. That's it. Same with the drumbeats.

Like its predecessor, AdrenaLinn III gives you modulation effects, looped filter sequences and delay loops, all playing in sync to the internal drum beats or MIDI. This model adds reverb, compression, tuner, and brings the number of amp models up to 40 (including 4 bass amps) with enhanced tube emulation and realism. New MIDI improvements permit control of nearly all settings from MIDI pedalboards, and the panel footswitches may now be reassigned to a variety of actions including amp drive boost. User presets and drumbeats are doubled to 200 each and come filled with great new examples of what this unique idea-creation box can do!

  • Compression
  • Tuner
  • 200 user presets & 200 drumbeats filled with great sounds & beats.

Hi Kids! Are You Ready To Get Excited?

By Markus Michael

from Toronto

Comments about Roger Linn Design AdrenaLinn III Guitar Effects Processor:

The Adrenalinn 3 when it worked I liked it. Editing is not intuitive - 2 points. When it started to self-destruct I returned it - 4 points.

10 points minus 6 = 4 points
Includes a two bar drum sequencer with 200 patterns, and 200 effect presets of which some are quite hip, most only minor variations of one another. The editing possibilities of this unit without software (Sound Tower) and MIDI is tedious and time consuming. Take a look at it all you get for your money, is this the functional tone center you are looking for? Folks, this thing has a three digit display. The effect presets are juiced up, and in my opinion do offer some interesting nuances that can compliment, to outright sound disturbances that can blow a hole in your artistic credibility.
What can really be said here, sturdy metal box with four rubber feet? The unit started to malfunction after two weeks where I had to unplug and plug it back in for a reboot (every 20 minutes). From information I gleaned off the internet there is a known chip defect (and yes I did return this Adrenaliinn3 for a full refund - Thanks Musicians Friend :-).
If the unit proved reliable I would have kept it. Question: What is someone supposed to do with a piece of junk electronics? Answer: Sell it on EBay after getting it repaired.

Catch all pedal

Comments about Roger Linn Design AdrenaLinn III Guitar Effects Processor:

I looooove this pedal. I have a whole line of analog pedals for tone/distortion/delay and I wanted to get some sort of multi-fx/catch-all pedal that gave me a whole ton of more sounds.
Thanks to reading about JM's pedalboard, this was it!
It has so many sound varieties and combinations I never even imagined
I highly recommend it to give you a whole world of tonal possabilities

I also highly recommend gettin an FCB1010 midi board with the Adrenaprom to help tweak each of the sounds how you see fit.

What everyone says!

By akitaboy

Comments about Roger Linn Design AdrenaLinn III Guitar Effects Processor:

This guy is what everyone says plus it has a very very nice drum section. I actually own two of these from MF with one on myguitar and one for a practice/rehearsal/writing drum machine. Yes you can do both with one box but I am lazy! I have been buying from MF since last century and they more or less ROCK.

Music

Comments about Roger Linn Design AdrenaLinn III Guitar Effects Processor:

I have been playing guitar for over 40 years.Ive played in bands, studio, etc.Ive tried over 100 effect boxes, pedals, etc,in search of that animal called tone. One thing that Ive always been on the lookout for is as many different tones as I can find.I have to say,in this price range,I was blown away by the sounds that came out of this unit.I cant beat the price, the sounds are excellent, controls very easy to use,and this works excellently in the studio, going direct to the board.I have not had a chance to try this thru amps as yet,so i cannot give an opinion on that kind of use.I will say this:the sounds I heard thru the board are as good as ,if not better then much higher priced units used for guitars.les pauls,Strats,Godins all kept their own character, very important to me!Mr Linn, very, very well done!I also want to say that as always, Musicians Friend, over the last 10 years, you have always given excellent service to me,ready to answer my endless stream of questions, been great on returns or exchanges, and sent my stuff out to me very quickly!

You won't believe it's digital

By Dean-ftsNq

from Twin Cities, MN

Comments about Roger Linn Design AdrenaLinn III Guitar Effects Processor:

I've had this a couple days and haven't explored all the options but can't wait to get home from work and play some more. I got the unit to have multiple effects because I like exploring different sounds, but I've been stuck on playing the different amp models which are crazy good! Get a comfortable set of headphones! It's like someone dropped of a semi-trailer loaded with different amps. I've tried some of the Line 6 stuff, the Boss GT-xx, and some NI stuff on the computer. To my ear, they all seem to have trouble with having enough processing power to keep up with your playing; you can hear delays, choppiness, and pops. Not with the AdrenaLinn though, it shows the potential of what digital processing is capable of these days. Two minor complaints: I wish there were more choices for MIDI pedal control boards, as they seem to be fairly pricey for what they offer. The AdrenaLinn manual has a lot of discussion about using two expression (MIDI) pedals, so now that I know that I'll keep it, I'll have to pursue getting the pedals. The other thing is that it'd be nice if there were a USB interface to download presets and maybe update the firmware, if updates are needed. But otherwise, everything seems to be thought out without any proprietary BS. Example: there's a spec' for the power supply if you don't want to use the one supplied with the unit. Add the fact that AdrenaLinn II owners have an upgrade path and you get the sense that they're wanting to take care of the people who purchase their product. Good stuff.

LINN DOES IT AGAIN!

By tonemeister-bOk1F

from Central U.S.

Comments about Roger Linn Design AdrenaLinn III Guitar Effects Processor:

The adrenalinn3 is by far one of the most versatile, best sounding effects unit....PERIOD!I have owned virtually every decent multi-effects processors available and the RLD3 out rocks them all!Not only do you get truly authentic amp modeled tones but they are USABLE! Most effects units I suppose because they are digital, sound sterile at higher volumes and especially in front of an amp, but the RLD3 not only retains it's sonic clarity but gets even better with higher volumes. This does not even touch the awesome effects that come standard with the unit.Overall, you simply and honestly cannot get a better value and quality effects unit out there.I use it every day and find more and more inspiring new frontier sounds with it!

Best pedal ever.

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

Comments about Roger Linn Design AdrenaLinn III Guitar Effects Processor:

I got this from upgrading the Adrenalinn II with the kit. The only complaint of that one was that I couldn't control it remotely with a midi pedal. Well this version do that and also have better simulations and useful rhythms/drums patterns.I am really happy now
