Rogue

A no-hassle, great-sounding blues pedal.

The Rogue Blues Distortion pedal creates a warm overdrive distortion effect reminiscent of classic rock and blues tones of the '60s and '70s. It also lets you overdrive your favorite tube amp or solid state amp, creating harmonically rich overdrive and sustain.

Three control knobs let you quickly adjust the amount of distortion, high-end bite and overall volume of the effected sound. A true bypass switch engages and disengages the effect. An LED indicator shows you when the effect is engaged and gets dim when it's time to change the battery.

The Rogue Blues Distortion pedal is made of aluminum and built to last.

Rogue (or whatever massive entity controls the low-end pedal market and owns Rogue, DeltaLab, etc) named this pedal poorly. They should've called it a treble booster, because that's what it is.I don't know if they cut the bass before or after the OD section, but it works well.Previous reviewers are correct that you need to crank the gain/level much more than on other pedals to compensate for the loss of bass freqs. However, that said, this pedal is GREAT in certain situations - basically the kind where treble boosters work. If you put it in front of an overdriven warm tube amp, you still get the low freqs, but the pedals top end cuts through for lead (or tonality). If you put it into a clean amp, prepare for low-end loss and screaming high freq. To use it in this situation, you need to cut back on the tone quite a bit and follow it with something that'll return a bit of the low end freqs to the signal. I follow it with a Timmy (or Danelectro TOD), which puts that low-end/mids back in and brings out a snappy "pluck". Good for chicken pickin leads. For $50 I wouldn't bother, but I paid $29 or so and it's worth that I think. It's part of my gigging pedal board (I like to use the cheap pedals when I play out - no need to ruin my studio gear with beer spills and bar hoes).

I've read other reviews that praise the pedal, so there is a niche out there, but I cannot recommend this pedal.
This was part of a package deal (which was a great bargain), and I thought I would give this Blues pedal a try. It seems to be really well built--metal housing, true bypass, stiff switch--but, for me, it stops right there. You have to turn the gain and the volume on this pedal almost all the way up to even match the volume setting on your amp. I was hoping for more of a clean boost, and then gain a little crunch. This just doesn't do it. It has a very high treble sound that is not pleasing to my ear.

Comments about Rogue Blues Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

I wouldn't have bought this pedal if it hadn't been selling at a great discount. This is a one trick pony. Turn everything up and you get lots of treble for Chicago Blues solo licks. I got nothing good when paired with a CryBaby. The pedal draws down the overall volume of the setup and there is no bottom, even when blown out of an overdriven tube amp. I can get about the same effect by using the treble pickup and setting the tones high on the guitar and amp. I'll be buying the Boss Blues Driver when I find a cheap buy.

This pedal and the rouge compressor will give you the best sound! You'll get Hendrix's clean sustain. I wish it had a little more distortion though

Comments about Rogue Blues Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

This pedal makes my setup sound exactly like a live Chicago Blues performance. It isn't anything like the distortion rock and metal players use. I've been attending chicago blues performances at the Zoo Bar since the 70's and THIS is the sound.

Comments about Rogue Blues Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

I'm not really sure why they are calling this a Blues Distortion effect. Very little effect to the thing other than increasing the mid/treble. The effect seemed to be a little added sustain. If you're looking for a really bright sound I guess this might be worth a try. If you're looking for a Blue's distortion/drive this one isn't even close.

          Good Treble Booster

          By srinivassa

          Ask me a question

Comments about Rogue Blues Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

This is a good 3.5 star pedal for one reason. It makes a very good solo booster/treble booster. It's not much of a blues distortion at all. If anything, the distortion on it gives it a bright abrasive edge, not a real breakup at all. I am cool with this because I needed a good treble booster on my board for solos. I knew from other reviews I would at least get that. Still, you should be able to slide the gain knob to 7:00 and get a clean solo treble boost. Then slide it to 2:00 and get a solid bluesy distortion. Turns out that it's pretty much all clean to OD clean boost.
This thing has good tone control, but does not provide any crunch to speak of.
Construction is great. Effect is not as advertised.

          Another great value Rogue Pedal

Comments about Rogue Blues Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

I really like the new Rogue pedals. They are real quality pedals for a good price. If I were other pedal companies they would be making me nervous. The blues distortion will really brighten a bass heavy amp with nice treble crunch. Staying on my board.
