OVERVIEW

A massive-sounding floor pedal for rockers.

The Rogue Distortion pedal creates an edgy distortion effect reminiscent of the hard rock tones of the '70s and '80s. It also lets you overdrive your favorite tube amp or solid state amp, creating harmonically rich, sustaining tones.

Three control knobs let you quickly adjust the amount of distortion, high-end bite and overall volume of the effected sound. A true bypass switch engages and disengages the effect. An LED indicator shows you when the effect is engaged and gets dim when it's time to change the battery.

The Rogue Distortion pedal is made of aluminum and built to last.

FEATURES
  • Sturdy, lightweight aluminum case
  • True bypass switching
  • Easy-to-use Gain, Tone and Level controls

This thing starts with a lot of distortion on the lowest gain setting. My rig squealed like a pig turning the gain more than 3 o'clock. After that it became fuzzy. This is not an overdrive pedal. This is a hard rock distortion pedal. I used an eq and got a very cool metal sound. This will be my new hard rock pedal. I already have a metal pedal. You can seriously use the lowest gain setting and sound good. The tone knob is touchy. A little goes a long way. Tone all the way up will hurt your ears with treble. Tone all the way down and it's like you put a blanket or two on your amp. I leave it at noon. Good construction. Came with a battery. Works on bass too. Check out the Rogue Blues Distortion for a more classic sounding distortion.

I bought this to repalce a Danelectro Fab Distortion pedal that stopped working. I bought it because it was a low priced option. I figured for the money it couldn't be that bad. I couldn't have been more wrong. This is the noisiest, worst sounding distortion pedal I have ever used. I think I will buy the Danelectro again because the sound is so much better than this Rogue pedal. If your looking for a cheap distortion pedal, avoid spending the money on this pedal.

    Great sounding... but too noisy!

Comments about Rogue Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

Overall... a great sounding Dist Pedal. I liked it more than my OCD because it had more gain and 'hair', whereas the OCD when max'd is still a little shy of what I'm really wanting out of it. However, the Rogue Dist is a hummy, noisy pedal, which really made it tough to use live or for recording. Thought long and hard about keeping it, but the Signal-Noise ratio was just too high in the noise dept. Too bad, 'cause I really liked everything else about it!

rogue distortion - heavy to heavier

Comments about Rogue Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

as above. decent build. average value. distortion too heavy. wish it offered a more subtle brand of distortion
I have really mixed feelings on this pedal. It seems well built and sounds ok but not as expected. I was hoping for something with a light to moderate distortion. I am using with a gibson goldtone ga15 and an epiphone valve junior with mercury magnetic transformer upgrades and a redone board with point to point wiring. Here is the issue. It starts with fairly heavy distortion and gets heavier. There is no subtle distortion to this unit. There is no light distortion even with the gain on zero.l It is also a bit noisy after 3 oclock on the gain but I would expect that of a pedal in this price point. the tone control is usable and there is a decent amount of volume boost with the volume control but I would use this as a distortion pedal rather than an overdrive pedal. It will do heavy rock and maybe metal although its noisy in this range. Just wish it could do a lighter distortion
well built. seems like it will last. not as solid as the deltalab though
average value since the price went up

    Great Distortion Box

Comments about Rogue Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

For the price, this little distortion pedal is a great buy. It's leagues above their previous distortion pedals, that were plastic and made a very noticeable hum when engaged. This pedal has only one issue, and that's that if you turn the gain up past about 14 you really begin to hear that nasty hum. As long as you don't wish your guitar to be soaked with distortion, this pedal is a great deal for the money.

    Heavy Metal Pedal

Comments about Rogue Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

Well made and great design but very heavy on distortion
This is a great design for a distortion pedal But, With the gain knob turned all the way down there is still allot of distortion to this pedal. You should be able to turn the gain down and have no distortion and have like a clean sound but with this pedal you can not.
If it wasn't for that I would give it a 10 and keep it but I sent it back.
If your into real heavy metal rock then this would be the pedal your looking for.
Very well made of aluminum and will last

    Rogue Distortion Pedal

    By charles martin

Comments about Rogue Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

    Overall:
I think I've said it all in the other boxes. Bottom line here is if I broke or lost this one somehow, I would buy the exact same one again for the exact same purpose!
    Features:
Tone knob: Gives good control over the punch. Better than I expected.

Gain knob: (like other reviewers have said) It starts out with too much gain. I wish it had lower settings, but still does just what I bought it for.

Volume: I got more than I expected for the price.

Switch: When distortion is switched off, you can't tell there's a pedal in the setup. It does better than I expected there too. I'll mention it again in the quality section.
    Quality:
It's well built. Not the plastic junk you might expect for the price. The switch is firm and feels like it will hold up to my lead foot. I've only had it for 2 months, so the jury is still out. Good marks so far.

As for the electronics, they suit my purposes fine. I've read the other reviews that complain of noise, so I guess it depends on your use. I do home recordings with my PC, and I haven't had any issue with noise at all. There is some noticable at maxed out gain, but wouldn't that be expected? Maybe in a studio envirnment it's a different story, but I'm very happy with the signal considering my investment.
    Value:
Here again, it depends on your purpose. If your using the overdrive channel on a lower end amp for distortion, buy this thing quick! There's going to be no comparison or regret.

If you have other pedals that your going to compare with, this one is for heavy gain. With the gain all the way down, I find myself adjusting the volume on my guitar trying to back it off just a little more, but I enjoy cranking it up and trying to shred over a backing track also. Your not going to be disappointed that you didn't get enough.

Bottom line here: For the price, you can have a good heavy distortion pedal for home recording or practise. I think that's a steal. Kudos to MF and Rogue!

It is perfect for Thin Lizzy and like bands. It is more of a classic distortion sound and I love it for that. A little one directional, but useful for some settings.
