Comments about Roland Battery-Powered Keyboard Amplifier:

I love the portability of this amp as well as the flexibility of its inputs and mixing section. The sound quality, however, I was not impressed with. At low volumes it sounds a bit tinny and compressed. At high volumes it distorts rather easily. It worked fine for practice situations or for home entertainment, but at a small coffee shop gig it distorted way too easily. Pretty disappointed with this purchase, but maybe the lack of headroom is to be expected due to the low wattage that this amp is rated at.

I used to own a Roland KC350 and loved it but replaced it with this amp due to the 350's excessive (for me) weight. I will try the KC150 next, perhaps.

Comments about Roland Battery-Powered Keyboard Amplifier:

I love this little amp. It's really well-made, has tons of inputs, is versatile, and sounds great. I have used it mainly for listening to my music collection at home or at friends' places, with synthesizers in a practice setting, and as a "laptop companion" for demoing/rehearsing new ideas. I can bring this amp with me almost anywhere. It's super easy to carry in one hand with my gig bag slung over my shoulder and still have a hand free. The EQ knobs do need a bit of tweaking to get the best sound for particular tracks. I find that about 8 o'clock on the "LOW" and 1 o'clock on the "HIGH" to be about right for moderate listening. It's plenty loud enough for what I use it for, and haven't had a reason to turn it even close to all the way up yet. The power supply is a bit of a pain, but I feel that way about all external power supplies. Highly recommended.

Comments about Roland Battery-Powered Keyboard Amplifier:

Got this for the features: line out, three channels, effects, nice style and rugged, portable with battery power. We compared the volume/power to our dieing Fender Bullet amp with our electric Harp, and the Roland is about 1/3 or less of the power. We're still keeping the Roland and will get a preamp or take the line out to the PA, but it isn't powerful enough to use as a monitor in a normal low volume rock band (we're not loud).

Comments about Roland Battery-Powered Keyboard Amplifier:

When accompanied with my Roland keyboard, the balance of lows and highs becomes possible. My previous amp made me sound heavy on the bass, light on the treble. What a wonderful difference in my keyboard sound. Now this new amp is half the weight of my old one, not a Roland.

Comments about Roland Battery-Powered Keyboard Amplifier:

I play many beach weddings and had another brand which was loud and great sounding, but the battery died, so I bought the Roland as a back up while waiting for repairs. Although only rated 30 watts, there have been few venues where it wasn't perfectly suited. Also, if you need batteries for power you can buy an 8 pack at the discount store and you are ready to go; no need to send off for expensive repairs. Although it is not quite loud enough for a windy beach wedding, I have used it outdoors near a pool, surrounded by shrubs, and even a large recital hall with NO distortion or problem with acoustic guitar. You can also plug in the vocal mic. and patch it into a PA. This was supposed to be a back up, but I now use it for 80% of my jobs. Also, I hurt my back and had hernia surgery last year, and this thing is light... no problems carrying. I also bought a back pack and carry it in there. I am very pleased with this purchase and have made an excellent return.

Well made Like most Roland Gear

          By DCguitar

Comments about Roland Battery-Powered Keyboard Amplifier:

This thing is built to last and it does pretty good at driving sound for my GR-55 guitar synthesizer though I wish they would have put a bass sub out on it. I have a Roland AC-30 acoustic amp that has a sub out and I was thinking this would have one too. The AC-60 has a stereo XLR line out and the keyboard amp only has 1/4" stereo out, which means you have to have 2 direct boxes to run it to the house.

          Decent Job

          By Anonymous

          from Undisclosed

Comments about Roland Battery-Powered Keyboard Amplifier:

I own this as well as the new AC-33.Although it's marketed as a Keyboard amp, I use it as a full-range amp for guitars, vocals and keybaords. It's louder than I expected as Roland are notorious for claiming power outputs above what the amps can faithfully reproduce. I found the KC-150 and KC-350 well short of producing the output claimed by Roland without distortion, with only the KC-550 producing a decent level, but that puppy's heavy! That being said, this thing is not that loud. It's fine for practice or small Jams, cafe's, etc. I haven't had it distort on me and the only thing I haven't put through it is Bass. The AC-33 designed specifically for acoustic guitar mid-range type stuff distorts Bass quite noticeably when an electric guitar is played though it and cranked up (presumably caused largely by the limitations of the smaller enclosure). If you want a full-range amp, with usable volume, some mixing and portability thrown in, this thing does a nice job, with a very clean response. The lack of distortion when pushed is nice, cause sometimes you need all 30 Watts. Overall, I'd definitely recommend it if the features suit you.

Yes it's portable, but I'm disappointed

          By James B.-OeR3g

          from Miami, FL, USA

Comments about Roland Battery-Powered Keyboard Amplifier:

The sound is very tinny especially with grand piano sounds. It's hard to find a balance between the bass and treble end. However - that said, that could be said of its "big brothers" too, for instance the 100W KC-350 doesn't sound that different at ALL. And all keyboardists and pianists know this - when you need to replicate those gorgeous Motif/Fantom/etc sounds live, you need a good PA system to do so. Roland says that it has a "very efficient 30 watts"...I would say that it distorts pretty easily, just as you would imagine - especially with bass heavy sounds like Rhodes el-p or B3 organ. As a personal monitor, it gets the job done. As an amp, you'll be struggling. Then again, you can connect it to a PA system and be just fine. And you won't break your back carrying it there.Roland has priced it in the same ballpark as the KC-350, and you might as well buy that, because at least you won't "run out of watts". It really only comes down to whether portability is a big issue.
