Overall I would reccomend this amp to all guitar players, beginners to professionals, it comes with everything you could possibly need. I am VERY pleased with my purchase.
This amp is a guitar players dream! It has a wide variety of effects all BOSS quality, The looper comes in very handy and the auxilary jack is very nice. It is simple to use and well put together. You really can achieve ANY sound you want. My only complaint is that it does not come with any footswitches for switching between the channels and the boss ones that go with it are not exactly cheap. Switching between clean and other channels is not my issue its activating the looper that is a problem, its very hard to record yourself then stop playing to turn it off because it creates a gap in the recording, but it is not a dealbreaker. Also Im guessing it is loud enough to keep up with certain drums depending on what style you are playing which I find very impressive for a 40 watt amp.
This thing is built like a tank. when I purchased it I was not aware of its construction, I went on Rolands web site and watched all the promo videos and was very suprised at how well it is put together, even at loud volumes nothing on this amp rattles.
I would say this amp is a GREAT value especially if you are using it for practice and recording, Like I said earlier you get all BOSS effects built into to one little unit so you bypass buying all the stomp boxes. And the sound is simply amazing, even at high volumes it does not break up as a normal solid state amp would.

This is a *great* amplifier in almost every way. It can play quiet or quite loud, and retain the same tone across all volumes. All the modeled amps sound great with nearly no tweaking - in short you can easily get lots of great, different sounds. The effects are good when reigned-in. A lot of footswitch control over multiple channels, presets for each, effects, & loop. An input for your cd player or ipod/pad/phone. As a practice amp, this can't be beat, and in a small space this could work too. Five+ stars for all of the above.
Unfortunately, this amp has one signifigant flaw: it is UNGROUNDED. I.e. it's a 2-prong plug at the end of the cord. This means that it will hum, hiss, and buzz, depending on what is nearby or what noise is in the mains. It also means none of the sheilding on your guitar or cable will work, as those all require a ground present to be effective. Why Roland chose this is beyond me. I like this amp so much (for the above reasons) that I am paying a tech to put in a grounded power cable, but it certainly is annoying that it was not made properly in the first place.

When I get ready to play a venue, my Marshall is my go to amp. Until I move to the country with no neighbors, I had to find something I could work with on a quieter level. This Roland amp fits the bill!

Comments about Roland CUBE-40XL 40W 1x10 Guitar Combo Amp:
I bought this amp recently and am very satisfied with it. I did have to purchase two Boss FS 6 Pedals and I'll probably buy another momentary switch. It would be nice if it came with those accessories, but it's still a nice little amp. I bought it because I can't lug around my Roland Jazz Chorus 120 to Jam Sessions. This amp is fine for small venues and jams. If I wanted to use it at larger venues, I'd probably mic it. Youtube has a nice demo of Alex Hutchings showing off the amp's features. Check it out before buying.

Comments about Roland CUBE-40XL 40W 1x10 Guitar Combo Amp:
I was looking to set up a home studio in which I could have band practice, as well as, record. The only thing anyone would need to bring is their instrument. I tried a couple of amps, frontman, rogues, and small marshalls. None did the trick. I tried the Roland Cube and was very impressed with the overall sound and features of the amp, so I bought 2 of them. I am looking to pick up another. The sound quality is great, and micing them into my recorder produces a very high quality result. It sounds very full, clear and much bigger than it it is. The only downside is the footswitch, which is expensive and somewhat awkward to use. I just use my effects and by bypass the Roland footswitch. The Cube is a great sounding amp in a small package and is attractively priced. I am very pleased with the choice.

Comments about Roland CUBE-40XL 40W 1x10 Guitar Combo Amp:
excellent sound that translated well when plugged directly into my DAW. Amp models were already good on the old cube amps ; these are even better.
Comments about Roland CUBE-40XL 40W 1x10 Guitar Combo Amp:
Just don't feel like it's perfect because of chorus and delay.
Clean and overdrive sound very clear and tangle.
Pros:
Good enough for home and garage practice. I don't bring my pedal board any more.
Loop recording feature is very convenient. I can play a few hours alone with it.
Sound setting can be stored in Solo channel.
With foot switch, it can switch 4 different sound. 2 clean, 2 lead.
Cons:
Embeded chorus and delay are toy level compared to MRX chorus and BOSS DD-3.
Heavy distortion is just like TR sound.
If you're thinking a amp for both practice and gig use, I would go for 80W one, next time. This one is bit smaller. But if you use it at night offen, 40W would be good. It has a button for lowering the volume.
Just robust.
No 1 practice amp.
Comments about Roland CUBE-40XL 40W 1x10 Guitar Combo Amp:
This amp was selected because of it's reputation for a rich clean sound and it lives up to it well. It is also very versatile in amp modeling features and high gain sound capability. I could have been happy with the 20 Amp version but the features pulled me to purchase this one. I would recomment this one to a friend.
Loaded with capability for clean to dirty sounds. Amazing power with the ability to play softly on reduced output setting. It will take a while to discover all the sounds it is capable of. It can be used nicely in the bedroom with the power squeezer feature (restricts output to 2 Amps). It seems to have every input and output you could use for a practice amp or more.
Very well made case with good feel to the switch gear. Amp gives a very smooth and rich clean tone with no hum.
Compared to other products on the market it is hard to believe the low price on this amp.

Comments about Roland CUBE-40XL 40W 1x10 Guitar Combo Amp:
This an incredible sounding amp. I really don't think anything else in this price range could touch it. I was looking for a small portable amp that would help round out the low mids and bottoms of my guitars but was somewhat hesitant to go with the 40xl with only a 10" speaker. As it turns out I had nothing to be concerned about. It does an incredible job of doing just that without losing any of the clarity, twang and sparkle of my Telecasters. What amazes me as much as anything is this little gem actually sounds much bigger than it is. It's very loud and very full at higher volumes yet it still retains it's basic character at home in the practice room at much lower volumes. Built to withstand some knocks and bumps it's not an amp anyone should be shy about carting to a gig. The amp models are very realistic given that a 40w amp with a 10" speaker is emulating much larger rigs. The effects are nice but due to the difficulty in combining them I'll be using my pedals with the exception of the reverb setting and a tremolo. The only area where I knocked it back from perfect score was in it's features. Even an amp this small should be equipt with a direct out and an extension speaker jack. This amp is good enough to gig with and that added flexibility would have been nice even if it had added $50 more to it's cost. Shame on Roland for overlooking that since that's all the more it needs to be a perfect small amp.
Comments about Roland CUBE-40XL 40W 1x10 Guitar Combo Amp:
the sound is souless and lacks anything approaching a decent tone to my ear. i tried everything to dial it in. it jsut wasn't for me. for a beginner, i would recommend this amp.
loaded with features. the effects are good. often a bit digital sounding. the closed back sound is something i am not used to, but it is not a bad thing. the low end booms.
very solid construction. pretty sure i could throw it down a flight of stairs and it would be no worse for wear.
as a beginner amp, i give it a solid 10. as a practice amp for a more advanced player, i give it a 6... so i just averaged the two. the tone is just not there, but it sounds a whole lot better than my first amp.
