Got this on Stupid Deal of the Day and this purchase was anything but stupid. About the only negative I can think of is that the foot controller does not come with this amp and its usefulness as an advertised stage amp is limited without said foot controller.

This amp is LOUD. It sounds alright at lower volumes but really screams when turned up. The variable gain and volume controls make it a snap to fine tune the tone by ear. There are 4 channels to store presets plus a manual channel, basically making 5 stores total. Also the boost, mid-boost, effects loops 1 and 2 and reverb can all be turned on/off via the foot switch. 2 expression pedals can be hooked up to the foot switch to independently control both gain and volume on the fly making for some VERY interesting effects.

With 2 effects loop channels, it is possible to hook up 2 entirely different external pedal boards which can both be set to run in series or parallel. The 4 cable method works great if you happen to have an RP1000 or similar. The amp sound is so versatile that I find myself not using other effects or pedals. Plug in direct and let er rip!

Built like a tank. Darn good thing it comes with casters as it is HEAVY. I doubt I'll ever have the chance but there is even a way to link 2 of these beasts and control both through the one foot switch. As if 200W isn't loud enough, 400W would be crazy. Looks pro with heavy gauge grill and otherwise Spartan look.

There is a 1/4" through port for a tuner, which is one thing that seems like it would have been easy to build in to this amp. The LED indicators on each dial are both functional and cool looking as they move when channels are changed.

Out of all the controls, the Voicing button seems to have the least effect. Seems to modify EQ just a tad, not very discernable to my ears. Reverb quality is very good, if not excellent. Both Presence and Reverb have a wide range of adjustment.

Think of this as a digital amp that is controlled more like an analog amp. No screens to cycle through, no complex button sequences to remember, etc. Personally I'm glad to see this trend back toward more analog feel.

I would purchase again. I might even purchase a GA-112 for smaller venues, practice or stereo chorus use. Really wonder what a pair of linked GA-112 would sound like vs. a GA-212? My lead guitar player rocks a Mesa Boogie which is held in very high esteem - I'd stack this Roland up against it any day.

Comments about Roland GA-212 2X12 200W Guitar Combo Amplifier:

If you want a Fender sound , buy a Fender, 'cause this ain;t it. If you are one of those guys who likes to set his controls at 1 o'clock, don't buy this amp. You have to teak and listen to get results. It's not hard to work, it just has a different sound. I like transistor amps. I like an extremely clean sound. No break up for rhythm or jazz leads. This amp delivers that sound all day. It also has a great gain stage. You can go from a blues break up to full tilt screaming gain, and every thing in between. BUT, you have got to tweak it. What I really love about this amp is the back panel. Outputs and inputs for everything. It is made for the stage. At first I wasn't crazy about the sound. I continued to work with it until I got it to deliver. You must buy the foot switch for ease of operation.

This amp is a great all around amp for all playing styles. The sound is full...not to high or low in tonality. I wish it came with the pedal instead of me having to buy it later. Can't wait to get some Roland or boss pedals to see how the COSM works on it. If you have the money to pick one of these up...get it now. Trust me...you won't regret it

Comments about Roland GA-212 2X12 200W Guitar Combo Amplifier:

Finally, a digital amp with integrity. A digital amp that isn't trying to buffalo me with gimmicks. A digital amp with real warmth of sound...that can hold it's own with tube amps but without the fragility of tubes. Had a Lab Series 5 that did this, but it was 40 years old and some of the business no longer worked. No immitation heavy metal effects here...just beautiful tone...from clean to warm, full bodied distortion. I'm very pleased to own the Roland GA-212 and proud to play through it.

Comments about Roland GA-212 2X12 200W Guitar Combo Amplifier:

The unit came shipped in a 'light' cardboard box.
It was smashed in almost every angle..holes in box. Unit itself had a nice bang on the bottom of the cabinet...not sure how the electronics will be effected long term.. Does sound great with almost infinite tones, and straight forward settings. Do wish there was a reverb or 'some' effects so that you wouldn't need to add pedals.

Comments about Roland GA-212 2X12 200W Guitar Combo Amplifier:

When I first got this, I was not very happy. I bought it on Roland's rep. and the price was good.
I thought I would mess with it a couple days but probably semd it back.
It was ugly and the sound was muffled, blurry.
Someone told me Rolands need to be broken in. They dont sound good at first. This makes no sense to me, and it's probably just because I learned how to teak the knobs, But after a few days, it sounded really good and is fun to play.
And the "ugliness" gave way to me thinking its unique look was kinda cool.
Its built really sturdy, and is very versatile, with two FX loops, and you can add pedals to the pre-signal. It has a good clear sound and a good crunch sound on its own.
Bottom line is it sounds good and I like it.
Not sending it back. It is pretty cool.
I do still prefer my Marshall however.

Comments about Roland GA-212 2X12 200W Guitar Combo Amplifier:

THis is a great amp and is so powerful it's unbelievable. My needs call for it to be carried around a lot and at 68, that's impossible. I also need a more blues sound, this amp has a little more treble than I like but there's nothing that I can say to take away from it's quality.

At last a quality new replacement to my Gibson LABseries L5. If I could add one thing, it would be an Egnater-style 1W-200W front panel variable voltage knob.

Comments about Roland GA-212 2X12 200W Guitar Combo Amplifier:

First of all let me say that I have been playing semi professionally for almost 40 years and over that time I have owned many tube/solid state amplifiers including Fenders, Peaveys, Ampegs and Mesa Boogies. For the last thirty years I have been playing through Mesa Boogie Amps exclusively and have been very happy with them. I have actually liked a couple solid state amps that I have owned over the years and with the great reputation Roland has earned over the decades I took a chance and bought this amp.
I can say that I was pleasantly surprised when I unpacked the GA-212 and plugged my go-to Stratocaster in. First, this amp is built like a tank and it is solid as a rock. Second, it is very easy to use with the basic controls and with additional gain, boost and voice buttons. Third, it's nice to have(count-em)5 different(1-4 & manual) channels to preset and use at the stomp of a foot. Lastly and most important are the tones that you can create with this amp are excellent. From a super clean shimmering tone to a full on metal crunch and everything in between is possible and can be stored in the presets making this amp MORE versatile than my Mesa's.
Some how this amp got a bad rap and I do not understand how, but I'm here to tell you this is a great and powerful amplifier without all the maintenance required with tube amps. Plus it has wonderful tone that compares favorably with my Mesa tube amps. This is a great amp and will remain part of my roster forever. If you're thinking about buying one, don't hesitate you won't be sorry. Peace, G-Man

This is a rewrite. After spending time with this amp I really like the sound and stereo features. I wish the documentation highlighted/explained what the amp can really do - I had to rely on internet tutorials by third parties to understand the amp's stereo capabilities. Plug the stereo outs on your MFX processor into the amp's two returns and engage the A/B EFX loop buttons on the front of the amp and you will have stereo effects! (not mentioned anywhere in the manual). This amp has a nice clean tone and plenty of power and castors!
