I especially like the "Brit Combo" amp model, and the acoustic model. The phaser and reverb also sound really good.
Its really, really user friendly, easy to get good tones. Compared to some of the larger, more powerful, and more expensive modelling amps, its easy to get a good sound with it. As good as it is, I will look at the larger Cubes from Roland if I decide to get a bigger guitar amp. (Probably a part of their marketing plan, but, this little amp gets the job done!!)
The only thing that I would change is putting the power button on top or near the top to make it easier to find.
Keep in mind that by itself, (5 watts, and small speaker) its pretty much just for practice, or busking on the street.
I got it for travelling ( also got a Dean short scale guitar) and practice... just plug in, pick an amp, pick an effect, adjust the drive and volume and there you are!! Its a lot of fun.
However, I bet it would sound good if you use the line out and go into a PA with it, or into a larger, clean sounding amp
Roland Micro Cube a lot of features and effects for the money. I like the tuning note button, and also that you can tune to Ab with it, or Abb too.
Reverb is as good or better than most of the small combos I have tried.
I can get good tones for Beatles tunes, bluesy things, country-rock, etc....
I got mine used, and it seems well made. I try to take care of my stuff, but a lot of people don't.... !
I think amps that get passed around, dropped, sold, pawned, and still work great must be decent quality to make it thru all that!!
It sounds really good.
Its a lot of amp for the money!! You could spend this amount of $ on another small combo amp, and still not get the useful tools like the tuning note, reverb, and the amp models. Speaker is small, but really, its just as good as many of the other little combos out there!
I have a small Vox combo, and a couple of small Fenders, and this little guy can sound similar. The Cube has a lot more built in effects, however, plus some amp models/tones that the Vox and Fender can't pull off by themselves. (Those combos have more power and better/bigger speakers, so they can do more as a "live" guitar amp, mic'd, with a band, than the Cube however)
A lot of 10 and 15 watt amps out there ( for similar prices) really don't sound as good as this amp.

Man this is the best practice amp I have ever owned. I use it to take to school to jam at lunch and mid class as well as to replace my old practice amp. It does all that and a handful. Its a really great amp. I can get great acoustic sounds, bluesy grit and ballsy distortion. It also does a great shredder tone with a touch of chours and reverb. Its amazing what this amp can do for just being 2 watts and a 5 inch speaker. But thats one thing I want to mention that I have had a probelm (note its the only problem I have with it). The speaker seems to fart with ultra loud low frequencys achieved with palm mutes and high volume. This only happened with the batteries in use however. I swapped the batteries thinking that was the problem but it wasnt. It turns out the loud low frequencies is just too much for the batteries but the adapter that comes with it solves the problem. The only time u hear it though is when you hold a palm muted note for a while (ala deathcore breakdowns), so unless you play some slow palm muted breakdowns (which is torture for any small amp honestly but I cant resist)you have nothing to worry about. Its a great amp overall and if it were to break, no doubt I would get another. It just cant be beat for this best sounding, smallest, portable, practice amp.

Comments about Roland Micro Cube Combo Amp:
I bought this for my 11 year old daughter with her first acoustic electric. She has been playing the acoustic for 2 years. I was amazed with the quality and quanity of the sound this puts out. It has a minor feedback issue if the guitar is too close to the amp. The controls are easy to use and self explanitory. With the batteries, the sound is unchanged and will last an amazing 20 hours with just double A's. Great for practice at home, jamming with her friends, or recitals.

Comments about Roland Micro Cube Combo Amp:
Bought this cube cause i played through a friends and was impressed with its effects and features... Used it with my acostic/electric guitar at a gig playing on the JC Clean with some chorus and delay... plugged from the "rec out" directly into the pa.. livened up my acoustic very well. i can only imagine if i had my les paul plugged into it.. but will definetely be using this amp more for smaller and possibly larger events when using my acoustic.

Comments about Roland Micro Cube Combo Amp:
I was needing a small portable amp to use with my lap steel, and after checking some lap steel forums about the subject, this Roland Micro Cube seemed pretty popular so I sprung for one from MF.
Good choice - - the price was good for what you get, and better yet it's perfect for the lap steel! It really is capable of giving me that lonesome early country sound not unlike that of Ol' Hank.
I especially like the Brit Combo and JC Clean settings for the steel, and the NICEST thing about this amp is the addition of high-quality EFX! Love the quality reverb and echo, and the fact that it runs on 6 AA batteries is great (it also comes with an AC adapter)! For the guitar, the JC Clean setting is good, too, and I'm having fun mocking the Johnny Cash sound with my Tele - - in fact you can dial in almost any sound you wish if you experiment with the gain in combination with the many different EFX, from Roy Buchanan to Wes Montgomery jazz - amazing! Lots of other effects, too, and all the controls are nicely laid out on top. Only negative for me is the on-off button, which is oddly placed in the rear and not easily accessed (what were they thinking?). It might be easy to turn on if knocked over, too, but this one thing is certainly not a deal-breaker for me.
The tone that comes from this little guy is quite impressive, and I find that I'm using it more than my bigger, heavier amp now. Sounds like a bigger amp, too, with power to spare. Unlike most other mini-amps, this one doesn't sound like a transistor radio. While not big enough to fill a hall on it's own, you can mic this bad boy and it can do most anything you'll ever need. It even comes with a tap tuner button, which emits a tone through the speaker momentarily, varible from A to G. This is especially handy for those of us to rely more on our ear instead of depending on digital tuners.
Do yourself a favor and get one of these, it's worth every penny - - especially on something like a lap steel where you are looking for portability and mind-blowing tone. It's the only way to go.

Comments about Roland Micro Cube Combo Amp:
I traded a new ZT Lunchbox JR amp for this Roland MiniCube yesterday because the Roland sounds better.
More depth, and doesn't sound like a transistor radio (unlike the ZT JR).
It is way louder than 5 watts.
The warm tones are very good (when tweaked just right using the TONE control).
It can be used for JAZZ GUITAR applications, both live & for recording. Has great "clean" tone. I prefer the Black Panel setting for a clean, Jazz Wes Montgomery-like tone. It is the right setting for my Traveler Guitar (which only has a bridge humbucker p/u).
The only drawback is that when the "Acoustic" model is set, there is hiss produced when guitar strings are struck. Kinda annoying, but tolerable, the hiss can be reduced by putting the tone knob at the 9-o'-clock position.
Also, don't overdrive the bass tone as the speaker will sound floppy!
In a live setting, be sure to have an SM57 for house amplification!!! An XLR-balanced output would've been nice, but probably impractical, due to the power transformer (wall wart).
I live full time in my car, so I can power it with cigarette lighter adapter (9-volts).
Another very nice product from Roland. You can't go wrong!

Comments about Roland Micro Cube Combo Amp:
I have a small recording studio with 7 top of the line tube amps. However, each one of them are heavy making them difficult to move around. Because of this, I needed a small amp that I could play through some of my computer programs. This amp did just what I needed it to do, and I've had it over 4 years with no problems. While it is loud for it's size, it would never work for me in a live gig. This is a great practice/beginner amp, and probably could be used for laying tracks. It is well made, has some great effects, and so easy to move around. The name Roland speaks volumes, plus the reviews of others should reasure your decision in purchasing one for yourself.

Comments about Roland Micro Cube Combo Amp:
I had to buy a new Microcube, because my other one had a blown speaker; after TEN YEARS of use! It's my main, go-to amp because it sounds great for the size, is portable and I can carry it with me to a small venue and play quietly or with a little "punch" volume-wise. I usually play solo, with no accompaniment and not much crowd noise. I have taken it with me all around the world as my practice amp, and it's always by my side ready to use. I have spent thousands of hours on this amp, and I am nut upset that I have to replace it after ten years.

Comments about Roland Micro Cube Combo Amp:
I love this thing...and I'm not alone!
One need only visit the Flute Portal to see just how many Native American Flute players both use and extoll the use of this amp model (Pro, Amateur and Instructors). It's perfect for so many NAF playing situations. It was from hearing about it repeatedly from other Fluties that I finally looked into the possibility of getting my own.
For the price you can't beat the sound, the volume and the Canyon Echo effect (so greatly desired when a tunnel, park garage, stairwell, tiled bathroom or real canyon walls aren't readily available).
Many NAF players use it for in-home recording, though there are better alternatives for all-round sound quality. Still has amazing sound, volume and a carry that will boost any small outdoor or larger indoor performance above most ambient noise.
Can't beat it for home practice, Flute Circles and just generally elevating one's playing confidence. Also quite helpful in detecting those small breathing or fingering mistakes one might otherwise overlook.
Fits easily in my motorcycle saddlebag and the batteries last an amazingly long time. Can easily play all afternoon if you had a mind to do so.
Really great value - A BEST BUY.
Just don't use it as a footstool.

Comments about Roland Micro Cube Combo Amp:
I've been playing guitar for six years. Metal, classic rock, prog, death metal, you name it, this is the best practice amp you will find in this price range. Solid construction, great tone, cool looks, I mean, literally, this is perfect for what I need (apartment living). I would recommend it to ANY guitar player. The built in tuning fork and effects are just a sweet bonus. The only thing I can even think to complain about is the lack of EQ (mid, bass, treble), but even then, if you're wanting that, Roland makes a slightly bigger cube with those features. Awesome amp. Would buy again.
