Initially, I really like this. Consider this - out put needs to go directly to a clean place - they recommend a PA system. I'm running it into a clean Fender Reverb and it sounds just fine. Get the aux pedal at the same time, or you can't stop it without an outro.

Instructions are simple & easy. However, using it in a loop is misleading. When looping this should be the LAST single to go out. Look at my pic: Signal begins at the Oxblood - lower right. So, I can use three pedals while building the 1st loop. That signal goes: out of the Beat buddy, into the tuner, straight to the Soul vibe, back to the Red Hall of fame, straight over to the big blue looper. Then, straight into the clean amp.

Just remember - the instructions are confusing for looping. In my case, the looper is the LAST thing in the chain. But, I wanted the drum song in my loop.

Worked on this item for a piano-playing friend who purchased the Beat Buddy. We spent 3+hours on this learning how to use the item, downloading the Beat Manager software, reading the manual, etc. Could not get the software to work on my Macbook, nor could we get the pedal to connect to the Mac via USB. Tried many times - no luck. This software should be named the "Not Ready For Primetime" Manager. We did enjoy the many varying beats on the pedal, and my friend has decided to keep the pedal and use it "as is" -meaning, only holding out dim hopes that the software manager will someday work with a Mac so we can organize the sounds and download new ones.

Comments about Singular Sound BeatBuddy:

I bought this Beat Buddy on the second wave of pre-orders in July of 2014. I was a bit skeptic at first after watching the videos from the maker. I thought....to good to be true. I was wrong!!! Is sounds absolutely amazing!!! I bought the pedal and the footswitch and I'm sure glad I did! You need them both to take full advantage of its features. It comes with 10 different drum sets and lots of different music styles. You can adjust the tempo and every time you hit the pedal while playing it performs a different fill for the verse and the chorus.A must to add to any rig! Plus and musician can use it whether playing an instrument or just singing. When I first plugged mine in at practice the lead singer thought the drummer was finally on time to practice. :-)

      Comments about Singular Sound BeatBuddy:

i can't tell you haow disappointed i am with the company itself. While the Beat Buddy is a pretty good product, all that is dimmed by the sorry infrastructure of the company. i ordered the BB while in pre-production. after MANY delays i finally received my unit. That was fine but at this point you'd think you could download the updates without jumping through so many hoops....JESUS! They don't even offer a Mac version of the Manager software that is usable, which is shocking because they even use a pic. of a Macbook in the promo! But who could blame them, hardly anyone uses Mac these days, oof! GET ON THE STICK!! Pure laziness. They've clearly rushed it into production to sell, sell, sell with no consideration for the end user. I'm frustrated beyond belief. Thanks for the expensive paperweight.

          Comments about Singular Sound BeatBuddy:

High quality construction and a good design, easy to use. I purchased the foot switch pedal and discovered that it doesn't work with the Beat Buddy unless I use the patch cable that came with it for some reason. The foot switch is handy for pausing and adding a cymbal crash and is programmable for other functions. The sound quality of the drumbeats is great. I found the best sound by running the two left and right cables out of the Beat Buddy each into their own channels in my mixer and playing through my stereo which I use as a monitor for recording with a digital eight track. The resulting recorded drums are clean and crisp and sound very close to the real thing in my opinion. You don't need to patch the guitar directly into the Beat Buddy for it to work. I'm using it mostly for practicing, songwriting and recording, and as a stand alone drum machine it serves the purpose well. I bought the Beat Buddy to augment my drum sounds for recording; I have an Alesis SR-16, which sounds flat in comparison, and a Boss DR-3 Dr. Rhythm, which has a quality sound comparable to the Beat Buddy but is less user friendly in a live situation, though comparably priced. There are enough variations to the existing preset drum sounds in the Beat Buddy to keep things fresh; you can change the drum kits to any genre of music, change tempo quickly and easily, and the foot pedal is smooth and silent and very responsive. If I had to choose only one unit to keep I would choose the Beat Buddy as you can download more sounds from the manufacturer's website so the thing won't be obsolete anytime soon. I think it's a great value, an awesome product and well worth the price. It doesn't come with much of a user's manual, which is offered online, but right out of the box with the minimal instructions card the thing is easy to use and understand. I recommend the Beat Buddy for anyone who needs a drummer for any situation, especially practicing and recording. The thing has definitely inspired me.

            Comments about Singular Sound BeatBuddy:

The BeatBuddy is a high quality drum machine in the form of a foot pedal.
It should be noted that despite it looking like a guitar stomp box you don't need to plug a guitar into it or run it through a guitar amp. In fact a different full range amp would be recommended. Most guitar amps are specifically designed for the range of sound of a guitar and will make this device sound not sound good even through a clean channel.
Now that I got that important yet often missed peace of advice out of the way I will give my opinion.
It is a great sounding drum machine. One of the best I have heard and with the free software you can create your own drum mix and they also sell collections of famous songs and of course all new sound types. It's a very useful and well built machine.

                Comments about Singular Sound BeatBuddy:

I got the BeatBuddy as a timing unit for my Pigtronix Infinity looper. My intention is to only send its output to an in-ear monitor, so the audience cannot hear it, however I may change that thinking over time. The MIDI sync cable for the BeatBuddy is a must for this application. I've never had MIDI work so easily. I plugged a MIDI cable from the BeatBuddy into the Infinity and it just worked, right out of the box. You can even change the tempo on the BeatBuddy while playing back the loop, although it takes a while for the looper to catch up if you move it more than a few clicks.

The other thing I like about this unit is that you can set the tempo using either the tap tempo button, or a dial that displays the beats per minute. I personally do not like using tap tempo, so the ability to dial in the tempo is a big plus.

                  Comments about Singular Sound BeatBuddy:

This is a truly revolutionary product - there is nothing like it on the market. The drum sounds are recording quality and it is easy to use right out of the box. There is a learning curve for the more sophisticated features and management software, but the effort is well worth the result. For anyone who wants to invoke the midi features, the possibilities are endless. This is a godsend for anyone who wants to practice or perform with a drummer, but remain a solo performer. Truly amazing.

                    Comments about Singular Sound BeatBuddy:

I'm a gigging acoustic guitar musician and I use a simplified rig so I'm able to set up and pack up easily The only pedals I use are a Digitech Vocalizer and a Distortion pedal for when I use a Tele. I played around with other drum machines & backing tracks but found them cumbersome to use.
                    Enter the BeatBuddy.

Unboxed it, plugged it in and put on a set of headphones to listen to the different beats and to figure out how to use the pedal for start, stop, transitions and outros. I did not purchase the BeatBuddy auxiliary pedal but much to my surprise and old two button stomp box I had left from an old Crate Acoustic Amp worked perfectly with the BeatBuddy. While the current BeatBuddy auxiliary pedal is momentary, my Crate is latching. However, the BeatBuddy will set up for either type and works flawlessly with my latching switches.

After figuring out the basics, time to plug it in. I set it up to run independently from my Vocalizer so it is not part of the signal chain. I plugged it into the Aux input on my SA-220 P.A. which has the benefit of having a separate volume control so I can easily change the volume of the drum kit.
First off let me say that when it comes to pedal work, I'm a klutz (which is why I keep it simple) who's fat feet make pedal work difficult. NO PROBLEM with the BeatBuddy. I was able to control start, stop, fills, cymbal hits and transitions flawlessly on first attempt.

It comes loaded with an amazing number of beats and a good number of drum kits. You can load in a song (beats) and then change the drum set, tempo, change fills in or out, just incredibly flexible. You can add more drum kits and beats at very reasonable prices from Singular Sound.

For gigging, you can set up your playlist and using the Aux pedal move forward and backward in the list again, incredibly was to use even for a klutz like me. Did I mention it has MIDI too.
