SWR's California Blonde has a spring reverb, a three way EQ and an "aural enhancer" on channel 1 that acts as a crossover between the 12" speaker and the horn. It has no other features - this in a time when most acoustic amps are offering a number of effects.I've played a Martin D 28 1 a Gibson J 4 an a Takamine through the amp - plugged in and miked. The Tak is the only guitar I've managed to get a decent sound out of - and that after a lot of tweaking. The amp is a poor choice for vocals - voices sound like people singing in a box. Miking guitars produces a similarly boxy sound. The amps are now made in Mexico - maybe I got an early model or a lemon - but try this thing before you buy it.
California Blonde used by Elton John's band for acoustic guitar. (They use Matchless amps for distortion electric guitar) Best acoustic guitar amp...
This amp has the most incredible natural full, fat sound I sold my Fender Acoustasonic Pro after hearing a blonde. It was the only California Blonde my wife would let me bring home....lol
Very clean and replicates the sound of your guitar without watering it down with other effects.
I've had it about 1 year now... still love it! Have played with 2 guitars through both channels and had very good results.
Simply the clearest, most transparent sound I've ever heard from an acoustic amp. Doesn't over-boost the highs...lows are nice and warm but not muddy. Sounds exactly like the signal you give it...just louder and a bit more rich.
This little baby has more than enough natural feel and ambience to get the job done... SMOOTH, NATURAL, WELL BALANCED... and doesn?t get mad at you when a plethora of pods, stomp boxes and gadgets get plugged into it...PS. If you want your vocals to sound natural, I suggest NOT blaming the amp but the user! I find the California Blonde's VOC channel to be VERY true and easily reproducing my voice? NOW THAT?S THE PART THAT NEEDS HELP? HA! HA!
Stays true and improves the guitar's specific tone. Best amp!
