Got my 1963 Precision Bass in 1971, been playing through a Sunn Coliseum Bass amp and 2 Sunn 2x15 cabinets equipped with JBL K-140's. Needed a new "toy". The Golaith III is my new "toy". I have two, ya can't fly on one wing.I will not play in front of people for money unless I have 2 cabinets. Now I have 4 !!!! SWR made a little brute of a cabinet with the Goliath III. SWR means Sunn Without Rumble. I will never sell my Sunn Stuff. The cabinet although "STUDLY" is a little small in the butt, ie needs some Hz below 50 Hz!! Buy two, don't be a whimp, ya can't eat one Lay's can ya??
I have owned this cabinet for about 8 years and this cabinet has never let me down. Always clear and punchy (even with an overdriven 5-string), always able to cut through the wall of guitars my old band had. I recently upgraded amps to a SWR 750X and it's time to buy another for a full stack.
Tried out over 20 cabs. This one has great tone and punch. Paired with a Mesa 400+ this thing is unstoppable. It offers Speakon connects too, not often you get them. Speakon connections are better for power delivery and reliable connectivity. Check it out!
I just bought a brand new SWR galiath III and a used fender head not long ago to replace my ampeg combo. And having been a dedicated ampeg user for my whole career I was surprized at the quality of sound the SWR had over the ampeg 4x10. The Galiath had a fuller round sound where as the ampeg had a prety sharp glassy sound to it. But you know thats just my opinion so go try stuff out.
2 years on the road with a Big Bertha has proved to be the best overall cab I've used, best power to weight ratio get's a 9 only because it's not affordable to many musicians, great versatile cab!!
I use this cabinet every single time I plug my bass in. I pair it with both my Son of Bertha 1x15 and my Big Ben 1x18 and either of those two combinations along with my 750x Bass Head has rocked the house at every single venue I have played at in the last year. I get hundreds of comments on the sound as well as the look. The Goliath III 4x10 is definitely a component every bass player should add to thier arsenal of gear.
I am extremely satisfied with the Goliath III's performance. As a stand alone cab, you can hang with just about any guitarist's rig. In combination with a Son Of Bertha (my setup), you can cause brain damage!
I've used this cab for about 3 years now and just purchased another to complete my stack. Plenty of bottom end and supurb highs and mids!
its a great cab and is good for the alternative rocker to the cool jazz player. can blast out all you can handle.
