This is a top of the line preamp. With the 2 tubes in it your signal can go through 4 tube stages. 1 in the preamp gain, 1 in the EQ, 1 in the D.I., and 1 in the Compressor. This adds quite a bit of smooth clear warmth that I love. The pre also has tons of features that you may or not think of as useful. In my opinion all of them are though. The D.I. sounds wonderfully warm and the attenuator is awesome because thing can put out a hot signal if needed. The compressor is very subtle and nice sounding although I just use it as a limiter to help get this up to line level going out. The Bass Intensifier is a fun little tool. I usually have it set to make the louder sections of songs sound bigger, get a awesome reggae/dub tone, or with conjunction with the Aural Enhancer to get a really awesome Hip Hop tone. The EQ section is quite powerful and versatile. The boost function is perfect for going into solos and the compression alterer works wonders.Over all probably the best thing I've ever played through. One warning though. Make sure you plug it into a power conditioner or power strip or else if the power goes out you'll have to go inside it and find the breaker. To be honest I couldn't find it but my electronic store could.

Sound is awesome. Love it. Problem is, had to return a couple because the unit would quit firing up after several days of playing.
