Just isn't worth getting unless you're a bassist that wants good clean tone. This head is only good if you're playing something on the lines of country music or simpler bass styles that aren't required to be loud and in your face all of the time.
If you're looking for a head that has a good clean tone I would highly recommend this head. The look is very sleak. The downfall to this head is that it lacks that punch that the bass sound is supposed to have and the fan is very loud. You're better off to spend the extra money and but an ampeg svt 7 pro (has that needed punch and a much brighter overall tone). I sent the swr back and got the ampeg head so worth doing that. not regretting my new head at all.
Head is very well bit durable can last through any fall. Fan is a loud so that gets a little annoying.
This isn't worth the price it is more so priced on its name instead of the quality these heads had before fender purchased the line. I would say its over priced nothing like you would expect from the swr brand.

I had a friend sell me this piece of equipment. He said that there was nothing wrong with it, he just wanted an upgrade. Well, I was able to try it before I bought it and I was impressed. The tone isn't AMAZING, but it will pretty much reproduce the sound of the bass guitar that you put through it. That being said, I really enjoy the bass intensifier. I must say that it's a well-made amplifier, overall.

Comments about SWR WorkingPro 400 Bass Amplifier:
I think this amp is nice and loud, but the tone leaves something to be desired. I went from a trace elliot head that fried and went to this. I cannot get anywhere near the warm tone of a Trace or Ampeg. This is going on ebay soon. This is not horrible, just doesn't have the wow factor. Spend the extra cash if you can, and go with something else.
Comments about SWR WorkingPro 400 Bass Amplifier:
I recently switched from and old Earth Research head and fender 2x15 to this head with a 4x10 and a 1x15. Things fall off shelves, my guitarist now wears earplugs when we practice. Love it, sounds great looks great. I play 5 string fretless and it growls!Might have done well to get the 700 head, but this works very well for the venues we play. Turning off the intensifier makes it sort of tinny sounding, however, crank up the gain a notch and the sound is back.
Comments about SWR WorkingPro 400 Bass Amplifier:
I put the SWR through my Ampeg SVT-410 HLF(4ohm)cabinet and I get a clean although slightly-growly low end thunder. This is the sound I have always been looking for. I have used this amp and head combination on stage for a year now and I have had nothing but great performance everytime. The features are amazing as well. The "Bass Intensifier" delivers gobs of low end without distorting and the "Aural Enhancer" acts more like a "room tuner." You can always cut through the mix. Plenty of power too.
Comments about SWR WorkingPro 400 Bass Amplifier:
I paired this with one of my Ampeg 410 400 Watt 4 ohm Cabinets and the guys on the band all fell in love with the sound. The Aural Enhancer and the BASS INTENSIFIER are outstanding. All my other amps heads and amps are ampeg. Now I am convinced the SWR is a great choice. I recommend that you try one at your local music store and see what you think. The Buckster
Comments about SWR WorkingPro 400 Bass Amplifier:
I pair it with an Ashdown 4x10 (at 8Ohm) and the sound is just wonderful. With the bass intensifier you can boost the low frequencies (which is good for me because we play in drop Bb) and it still sounds clear, even at a high volume. There is just one minor thing: it lacks a bit of bite, even when the gain is fully clockwise, it sounds practically the same as when it is at 10 'o clock. But this is rapidly fixed with an overdrive pedal or (like I'm doing) a preamp (bbe t-max).
Comments about SWR WorkingPro 400 Bass Amplifier:
Got this puppy for christmas, and holy cow!I previously bought a working mans 10 combo amp from swr and I loved the sound it gave me so I stepped up and got this. The bass intensifier will blow your mind! It's like have your bass on a higher volume but with out turning up the volume! The sound is awesome; I plug in my acoustic bass and I can get it sooooo clean it's angelic. I can also go really low as well. The handles are useful for pulling it up. And the footswitch is a nice added treat. Only complaint is that I wish it had a higher 8 ohm output...Awesome head~
Comments about SWR WorkingPro 400 Bass Amplifier:
I switched from a 200w Hartke head to the SWR Workingman 400 head, and I love it. I use it with a Hartke 410 (8ohms, 400 w) and a Hartke 115 (8 ohms, 300 w) and it rocks. With both Hartke cabs it pushes 200 watts per cab, for a total of 400 watts. I plan to switch to either an Ampeg ot SWR 410 cab eventually, though...I switched because I needed more headroom for outdoor gigs, but I have to use both 8 ohm cabs for full effect (pushing the full 400 watts), or connect one 4 ohm cabinet, but I like a full stack. I love this amp.
Comments about SWR WorkingPro 400 Bass Amplifier:
I upgraded from the Workingman 4004 and believe me, it's not even the same ballpark ! This amp is really a professional grade piece of equipment. I love the Bass Intensifier circuit, which allows you to boost level on a user selected band of lower frequencies via footswitch or front panel button. They've also added a selectable DI pre/post EQ feature, ground lift, and semi parametric mid boost/cut. I'm happy with the tone I can dial up, and find I can get a much warmer sound from this badboy than its predecessor. Oh, and you can still go SWR hi-fi. It's loaded, sounds great, and looks bad !
