OVERVIEW

Time-honored modulation that will give that warm fuzzy feeling inside.

Afterglow Chorus is designed with the vintage aficionado in mind. Its all-analog circuit uses a Bucket Brigade Device (BBD) to create a wide range of classic handed-down modulation tones. From the smallest shudder to wildest wobble, this tiny marvel is sure to quench your thirst for vintage flavored chorus!

Vintage-style chorus pedal
All-analog bucket-brigade circuit - for lush three-dimensional modulation tones
True bypass and top-mounted I/O

Take a little trip back…
From rotary speaker vibes to a full-blown 1980s chorus symphony, from jangle pop to grunge - Afterglow Chorus does it all. Plug in and send your tone on a journey through rock n' roll history!

Call in the Bucket Brigade
Many guitarists have grown to love the distinct tone of Bucket-Brigade circuits. And with good reason! The natural bandlimiting of this analog component is the secret-sauce found in countless classic rock songs. If savory modulation is what you're after, send for the Bucket-Brigade!

Classic tone -modern features
A sturdy metal chassis, top-mounted input/output and true bypass means that Afterglow Chorus is equally roadworthy and pedalboard friendly.

A pedal chock-full of classic chorus tones of course spots a pretty classic control layout, but let’s just run through them for good measure.

Rate - Controls the speed of the modulation. Set it low for a relaxed swirling or max it out for Leslie-like sounds.

Depth - Controls how pronounced the effect is. From feathery light to carved in stone.

Mix - Controls the ratio of unaffected/affected signal. Completely unrelated fact: MIX is the Roman numeral for the number 1009.

FEATURES
  • Vintage-style chorus pedal
  • All-analog bucket-brigade circuit - for lush three-dimensional modulation tones
  • True bypass

Comments about TC Electronic Afterglow Chorus Effect Pedal:

Low price should be the give away, this pedal does not deliver. The effect is ok only if you are using single strings, but as soon as you hit it with chords ( or an electric 12 string) it fuzzes out and all of the chorusing effect mushes up. Tried it with multiple amps and loop settings and this fizz could not be dialed out.
Traded it up for an MXR Analog Chorus and couldn't be happier.

Comments about TC Electronic Afterglow Chorus Effect Pedal:

I tried this one out at a guitar store because the price sort of had me intrigued. Spending some time with it erased any doubts. This thing will do subtle, 80s pop, Hagar era EVH, trippy Black Hole Sun, you name it. The switch is sort of counter intuitive as it is clickless, and the effect comes on during release. But, once you get past that, the all analog tones, true bypass, and quiet operation sell you on it.

Is it boutique? No. But once upon a time, nobody cared as ling as it sounded good, was durable, and didn't break the bank. Personally, I would rather spend WISE money and get a couple of quality pedals than break the bank on one that only impresses other players who ALSO spend too much on gear, and forget PLAYING speaks to people, and effects are just tools to add color.

If you're looking for a chorus that works, sounds more expensive than it really is, and doesn't cost a fortune, then this ticks of those boxes.

Comments about TC Electronic Afterglow Chorus Effect Pedal:

I have owned a few other chorus pedals and they all seemed too aggressive. This one has a nice vintage feel and is great for playing with the praise band at church.

Comments about TC Electronic Afterglow Chorus Effect Pedal:

I bought this pedal to add another dimension to my sound. I normally use just a touch of modulation on certain passages for depth, but this thing sounds good enough to use as an always on. It plays nice with my other pedals, sounds great clean, overdriven (TS808), and distorted (Dark Matter), and the mix control is a great feature, especially at this price point. The only weird thing about this pedal, is that the switch engages on release instead of on depression. Doesn't really get in the way though, and the pedal sounds fantastic, so I'm happy.

Comments about TC Electronic Afterglow Chorus Effect Pedal:

I'm a singer/songwriter in the James Taylor mode, just guitar and vocals when I do it live or record at home. One needs that little something, that watery splash, that presents of mind, that subtile jingle in the string that makes the guitar come alive. I'm very pleased with my "Afterglow." One can spend 200$ for a voice-box that does the same job. Save your money and buy an "Afterglow" and be as happy about it as I am.
