I play through a Matchless DC30 primarily. No effects loop and no built in verb. So all my effect are in front of the amp input. I've been through three other verb petals. This one kills everything I've tried. Real estate on my petal board is at premium, so that's another reason I like the Hall of Fame. I've A/B-ed it against three pre CBS Fender blackface combos I own. The spring sound is right spot on. What more do you need ?
The stock sounds will get you through any rock/pop/jazz/country gig you can imagine. The tone print thing is cool, but I haven't used it or think that I might need it. Maybe someday. The tone pot is effective as is the decay adjustment.
I've had it a few week and used it only in my studio, but it seems very "gig worthy".
For this quality of sound and "editability", I've not heard or played a better reverb stompbox for the price. The Eventide "Space" sounds awesome but it's in another class (IMO). Also, the smaller footprint of the TC is a big bonus for me.

Comments about TC Electronic Hall Of Fame Reverb TonePrint Series Guitar Effects Pedal:

Great sounding pedal ... however after 15 months the power inlet must have cracked off the board. I treated this thing gingerly, cause I like the sound, but this is ridiculous. Warranty ends and it turns to mush. It's a joke. I'll never buy another TC pedal for as long as I live.

Comments about TC Electronic Hall Of Fame Reverb TonePrint Series Guitar Effects Pedal:

There are already tons of reviews talking about the quality of each effect, and the versatility offered by TonePrint, so I won't keep beating a dead horse. I just wanted to mention something I didn't find out until after purchasing. There's an easy use to use thumb screw that lets you take off the back plate without needing a screwdriver. Above the battery compartment are two internal dipswitches that change the overall nature of the pedal. It's default mode is true bypass, but you can choose to have it buffered instead. Once in the buffered mode, you can activate a "kill-dry" mode that won't send through any of the dry signal in case you have a parallel effects loop. I won't be using it since my amp has a series loop, but that would be pretty handy if you switch between amps frequently.

Comments about TC Electronic Hall Of Fame Reverb TonePrint Series Guitar Effects Pedal:

I am not a fan of spring reverb, so I was in search of something I could use for live work without a bunch of programming. This works very well for that. The effect is very clean. I have read a review where the effect was said to be more like a slap-back delay. You can definitely get that sound (one way is use Room with a short decay and long predelay) but, in my opinion, there is a lot more available. I have used most of the modes in one way or another. For general gigging, I just set it on Room with a moderate decay and short predelay and it gives me what I need. If you love spring, I recommend you buy a spring unit. The Room, Hall, Cathedral, Church, Plate, and Mod reverbs are great - as you would expect from the digital effects kings at TC.

I was browsing reverb pedals to mix with my Orange MT20. Reviews from everywhere pointed the T.C.E. Hall of Fame. I'm glad I bought it. The versatility is insanely impressive. The fact you can update it anything with the app is mindblowing. I use it mostly for the "MOD" mode, which is (in my opinion) a mix of reverb and chorus. On a clean sound it gives you that nice "Shine on your crazy diamond" kinda vibe. It took me 5 minutes to get used to it, then 2 more to find my tone. Good work from T.C.E.

Considered a few other reverbs but kept coming back to the Hall of Fame Reverb. Some reviews say this one isn't that good but for me and what my ears hear it is very good, for sure. All pedals of sorts have their points some good and some not so good but I haven't found any bad points on the Hall of Fame Reverb. Does what it is suppose to do. Some of the reverb types are not for me but that doesn't mean there is anything wrong with them. The settings go with what type of music you play and the Sound you are looking for.......

      Just didn't sound very good

Comments about TC Electronic Hall Of Fame Reverb TonePrint Series Guitar Effects Pedal:

I went back and forth between a few different models of reverb. Generally I use reverb only a few ways: (1) A small touch of hall reverb just to wet the sound a small bit, (2) a room reverb sound for a little tight punch, and occasionally (3) a deep spring sound to do a little bit of surf guitar.

I decided I'd buy three at once and just keep the one I liked the best. I bought this one, a Holy Grail Plus, and a Verbzilla. Also tried the Boss/Fender in-shop which was okay, but overpriced and not versatile enough for me.

As far as sound, at least for my purposes, I thought the EHX won by a landslide. It's very smooth and natural sounding in the Hall and Room modes, and has an extremely credible Spring mode. The flerb effect I don't like and I don't see myself using that ever, but it's solid in the three modes I need. I was a little concerned about the bypass and the "it colors your sound" some people complained about, but I think it sounds great. Very simple operation and controls also - it's reverb, after all. [It's in the effects loop by the way, as the rest were when I tested.]

The Verbzilla is a tallish pedal that is just okay; it was on a closeout sale and very inexpensive compared to the other two, about half its normal price. It's somewhat artificial sounding. It does have a couple neat modes that would interest people but I'd consider it an intermediate-grade pedal. And I certainly wouldn't suggest buying it at it's regular price or even close.

Finally there's this HOF which I'd heard so much about. In short, it does a lot, but nothing particularly well. It feels light but built okay, though the switch feels a little flimsy, and the dial to choose settings could use a hard click or something so you can feel the change better. Those are minor things. It doesn't have the same heavy, solid feel that a Boss does.

The sound though is very hokey and not especially clean. Forget the stock spring sound, it's horribly fake. Maybe you'll like it, maybe you won't, but you certainly won't mistake this for a classic spring tank. The other sounds are so-so and all of the dialing in didn't help at all.

The TonePrint bank is a good idea I think, and there was a spring sound I downloaded that was an improvement. Nothing special though.

A couple years ago I had an X3 Live multi-effects unit for a few months. It didn't work out, but I thought the reverbs in that were at least as good as what I can get out of this pedal.

Anyway, this pedal - definitely versatile and doesn't cost that much. And it's far from the worst pedal I've ever used. It's just the Jack of all Trades. Not even the Jack, maybe just a 9 of all trades with a 5 for the spring sound. I could work with it if it's all I had but that's about all I can say for it.

Gear: I went into both a JetCity 20w combo & a Bugera V22 combo. Range of guitars including a Warmoth Strat w/ TS pickups, Schecter w/ EMGs, Ibanez 450m with Air Norton/Tone Zone, LP with '59s, and an Ash Tele Deluxe with some kind of Seymours I don't remember. Both amps tube w/ distortion I played with a bit, plus a Boss BD and Joyo Vintage OD. ISP Decimator in front and a few other pedals I didn't turn on when testing.

I would definitely hop in the car and try before you buy.

Comments about TC Electronic Hall Of Fame Reverb TonePrint Series Guitar Effects Pedal:

Really-- a lot to like. It's a solid 'verb that has very few gnarly grainy digital artifacts. Wish the tone knob had a little more swing to it in some instances, but you get a LOT of options and a solid box. Added to the front side of a Dr Z amp that had no verb, and it's functioning admirably. If you're running it on batteries, better stock up- it's a bit of a hog.. but for what you get, that's hard to complain about.

First of all, the "Spring" setting is a joke. It sounds worse than the stock reverb on Fl Studios. I'm not a tone nut at all. But it seems like they didn't even try, and TC is one of my favorite companies. I am not a tone snob at all, I can't stress it enough. In fact I'm good with knock off pedals, but for the price...

Comments about TC Electronic Hall Of Fame Reverb TonePrint Series Guitar Effects Pedal:

Before purchasing the TC Hall of Fame, I tried it side-by-side with the Digitech Hardwire RV-7. I found the HoF fuller/punchier and the RV-7 clearer/brighter. There was no obvious choice, and they were the same price. The tiebreaker was the TonePrint Editor software. The editor is a free download from TC. It allows you to access lots of extra parameters (including multiple parameters for damping, EQ, and modulation) to make your own custom TonePrint.

Now that I've owned the Hall of Fame for a few weeks, I only use the TonePrint mode. A few of the HoF's presets are pretty good, but I'd never use most of them. For example, the modulation in the "Mod" preset is just too over-the-top for my taste.

My one major complaint with this pedal is the layout. On a crowded pedalboard, it's much harder clicking the HoF's little bypass switch (without accidentally kicking the control knobs) than stomping the big rubber foot-pad on Boss pedals. Overall, I'm very happy with the sound quality of the TC Hall of Fame, but I think Boss and Hardwire win when it comes to ease-of-use, durability, and appearance.
