OVERVIEW

Uncompromised studio-quality digital effects in a compact floor-based design.

The ND-1 Nova Delay raises the bar for guitar effect pedals and redefines what it means to be "state-of-the-art." It's built upon the legacy and knowledge of TC's world-renowned TC 2290 Dynamic Digital Delay.

With 6 different stereo delay types and the option to store up to 9 presets customizable by an array of style parameters ranging from vintage tape to digital delay. This effect pedal easily serves all delay requirements of modern guitar players who seek unique sounds.

Each of these types can be modified with a delay style - a unique feature of ND-1 Nova Delay that allows you to mix and match your delay type and style infinitely.

With the ND-1 Nova Delay, both single delay and dual delay lines can be applied to any type and style using the tap tempo switch or delay time knob to determine the delay time that ranges from 1 to 2290 ms.

Three different types of modulation (light, medium and heavy) can be applied to any of the delay types - a feature originating from the TC 2290 Dynamic Digital Delay processor.

The all-new Audio Tapping technology enables you to set the tempo of the delay by playing a rhythm into the pedal while holding down the tap tempo switch. You can now set the tempo of the delay using your most important asset: Your playing.

Other great ND-1 Nova Delay features include the pedal's ability to choose between ms (milliseconds) and bpm (beats per minute) readout, decide if you want spillover on individual settings and turn global tempo - where tap tempo determines delay time on user presets - on and off.

This pedal is the best delay pedal I've seen. Delays sound incredible while maintaining a high level of customizability and versatility. The presets are integrated well and can be changed easily on the fly. With both tap tempo and the ability to set delay speed by BPM or milliseconds, you never have to worry about being out of time with a drummer. The subdivision feature is especially useful for those that like to use their delays to create rhythmic patterns (like the Edge from U2). This pedal is incredibly functional for the amount of sounds packed into it and has quite a reasonable price tag, I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a quality delay.

I bought this about 3-4 years ago for live gigging. My biggest issue with it is the lack of battery backup for retaining custom settings. Every time you unplug the pedal from electricity (it's only source of power) you will lose your custom settings. Also to switch to a different saved setting during a song you will have to use your hand to manually select the saved setting. There is no way to use your foot to change settings (unless you play barefoot and use your toes, hint... the chicks won't dig that). Additionally, the foot selector switch tends to stick in the depressed position which makes for frantic and awkward scrambling to pull out the button in order to engage the delay. One other thing, the LED display which shows which setting you are on is not bright, nearly invisible in sunlight and also very hard to read on stage with colored stage lighting around. In all, I think it's too expensive for it's annoyances and is best suited for home recording where it can stay plugged in to a electrical outlet and not lose your custom settings.

Comments about TC Electronic ND-1 Nova Delay Guitar Effects Pedal:

If you are even considering another delay pedal, i ask that you would clear your mind of it temporarily and just consider this pedal. Look up reviews and demos on you tube. You'll see that this pedal performs. I can say from over a year of experience with this pedal that there has never been a time when I wished it could do more. 'Nuf said. But seriously!! This pedal is Amazing!! Super responsive, super customizable, and you'll never again have to worry about tapping a dotted eigth!! You can save up to 9 presets on this thing, plus using the manual delay settings, which gives you the option of up to 10 self-set delay sounds to which you have super quick access. I have used this pedal for everything from heavy metal to Hillsong and it has never let me down!! I've tried it on a number of guitar and amp combinations, and I still got it to do what I wanted it to!! If you're thinking that you may not want this because of too many features and you'll feel overwhelmed, then just use the most basic settings (Delay line type and straight eights note subdivision) and get this pedal just for the presets!! For you acoustic players out there, this pedal works amazing for you guys too!! I've tried it myself!! I have never been, nor will I ever be unsatisfied with this pedal!!! I recommend this over the Line6 DL4 Delay under any and all circumstances. The Nova Delay out performs every other pedal out there!! So don't wait if you're considering getting one!! Get it!!!

Awesome delay pedal, hands down has the most features out of any delay pedal in its price range.

Comments about TC Electronic ND-1 Nova Delay Guitar Effects Pedal:

I love this pedal and recommend it to anybody.I even hold it and stare at it when I'm not using it!When you look at all the features, when you look at the build quality and you consider the price, nothing out there beats it.
The ND-1 Nova Delay has no shortage of of useable and very cool features. To start, the BPM feature is awesome and alone would make this pedal worth buying.I use DAW software like most people do now and being able to dial in exactly the right amount of delay to the exact tempo of a project makes it easy to record and play.Once you have your delay time set the subdivision feature lets you pick how the repeats are played back, quarter notes, eighth notes, etc.and even a dual delay feature that has separate repeat times for the left and right channels. With 6 different delay types the ND-1 will do everything you need a delay pedal to do.I love the reverse delay! Now the next features are pretty special and you won't find them all in one unit. The color knob will let you pick an old school tape delay sound,a vintage analog sound,a pristine digital sound and anything in between. You can add modulation to the repeats so they pop out more and the audio tapping feature lets you set your delay time to you're playing.
Quality is top notch. The LED display is bright and easy to read and the sound is second to none in this price range. It looks and feels like a well built piece of gear.
You wont find a delay pedal in this price range that can do all the stuff the ND-1 can.I've looked. The ND-1 is a true bargain.

Comments about TC Electronic ND-1 Nova Delay Guitar Effects Pedal:

I got this pedal last Christmas as a present from my parents and once I used it, I realized what a great pedal I had. It's got all the features you could ever dream of in a delay pedal and you can do all sorts of things with it. I've even found a setting to make a piano pad kind of sound with the guitar. It's a really versatile pedal. The only bad thing about this pedal is how much it costs, but for the price it's really worth it! I would recommend this pedal to anyone.

Comments about TC Electronic ND-1 Nova Delay Guitar Effects Pedal:

You must read the instructions carefully particularly about GLOBAL TEMPO. Before you can store a preset you must make sure you understand to make this setting FIRST...I have not used it live yet but I think the audio tap tempo will be a nice feature. It weighs alot but is very clean and probably the best sounding one that I have found

The perfect delay pedal.

Comments about TC Electronic ND-1 Nova Delay Guitar Effects Pedal:

I used to use a Vox Time Machine delay, which I liked, but was never happy with. Something about its sound and features always made me feel like I was sounding bad. Since selling that and buying this... the difference is amazing. The sound of this pedal is fantastic... for those of you with qualms about an all digital pedal... this thing can do just about any sound. Perhaps it doesn't capture the character of an analog delay quite so perfectly, but if delay and timing is a crucial part of your playing style, and not just an accent (which is what old fashioned analog delays are fantastic at) this is the ultimate pedal. The preset system is fantastic. You can save up to nine presets, but you only have to cycle through two if that's all you want. You can scroll through the presets using the tap and on/off switches, making this the ultimate in stage delay. Sounds are versatile and useful.. stereo is amazing... no noise at all and YOU CAN RUN IT FLAWLESSLY at 9v, as long as you don't have high gain boosters before it. Has no negative effect on tone at all. Get it, and pump your stage confidence through the roof!

Comments about TC Electronic ND-1 Nova Delay Guitar Effects Pedal:

When I purchased this unit I was doing it to replace my dl4. Wow!!! What a difference. What an awesome sounding echo unit! I have now retired my dl4 to my teenage son and along with a deluxe memory man have added this to my rig with probably the best sounding digital delay that I have ever played or heard. This unit in conjunction with reverb, compression through an AC30 captures a very, very sound U2 tone. If that is what you are looking for you will find it here!

This doesn't live up to its brand name

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

Comments about TC Electronic ND-1 Nova Delay Guitar Effects Pedal:

I was determined to fall in love with this stompbox seeing its great looks and features and knowing that TC manufactures good racks. I thought I'd love to have a longer delay in a simple stompbox. Then came the sound. One of the worst sounding delay stomboxes there are. Yes, it doesn't colour the tone much but it is so cold sounding, I mean- totally lifeless, soulless so I wasn't even going to think about it no more. Of course analog delays will always be warmer than digital pedals, but as for the digitals- I've seen lots of them who sounded so marvellous that this is completely out of any consideration. For gods sake, they could even make it out of cardboard, had this sounded better. Also, the quality of the box is not adequate seeing the price. In the pic it looks great, not so much in life. Knowing the price, it looks too cheap. And who needs thousands of needless features if the sound is bad? TC Electronic is a good brand but this doesn't live up to it at all. If you don't want to buy a rack, go for Line6, memory man, echo park, marshall, you name it. Apparently the Boss DD-6 is a very popular pedal, even that one is better (which is a very soulless pedal for long delays). ND-1 Nova Delay sounds worse than a dead fish.

Fantastic Delay Pedal!

Comments about TC Electronic ND-1 Nova Delay Guitar Effects Pedal:

This is incredible delay pedal. I have tested this one, the Line 6 DL4 and Boss DD-20, and I thought this one was the best. Just the sound quality of it is way beyond the other two. It is so crystal clear, and the setting to switch from tape to analog to digital is great. The way its setup is the best. Yeah it doesnt have some of the crazy delays of the others but thats not what I was looking for. Its also great for delay vocals too.

Comments about TC Electronic ND-1 Nova Delay Guitar Effects Pedal:

An earlier review said to spend some time going over the global tap tempo and he hit the nail smack dab on the middle of the head. I wish I had read that review BEFORE nearly setting my thoughts on fire thinking there was an issue with either the delay or my program editing. Here's the skinny: BEFORE you edit your programs do the following procedure to presets number 1,3,5,&7: hit the press button to put the pedal in Preston mode the hold down the type button that us located right below the delay types until you get a press button that flashes. Once you do this you will be able to edit all nine presets. If you don't, then presets 1,3,5,&7 will share the same delay time.

Now with what should have been stated clearly in the manual but wasn't out of the way, we can talk about features and sound. AMAZING!! Although it's digital you can actually adjust it to get a very good tape or analog degrade and warmth all the way to digital pristine repeats. You can set tempo by playing, run in stereo with two different subdivisions, use the reverse echo for trippy psychedelic guitar lines and have up to. 2290 milliseconds if delay.

This thing is the best delay that is in the price range and better than some that are twice the price.

Love this thing. Easy to use, and sounds awesome. Tap tempo is easy to use, and works flawlessly. The only thing missing is the ability to switch prgrams via footswitch. Using this live, I have to bend down between songs to change preset programs. Not a big deal really, but if it had either another switch on the box, or a out jack like the Boss DD-20 to attach a seperate switch that would work as a program change, would take this from great to epic.

Comments about TC Electronic ND-1 Nova Delay Guitar Effects Pedal:

I have never much cared for digital delay..I always preferred the much more natural sound of analog even with its flaws..Then i decided to upgrade the delay section of my board ..I purchased a Maxon AD999 for the analog section which i might ad is also a incredible analog delay but with very little options.I then started searching for a digital delay ..I was replacing a vintage Boss DD-2 that sounded very analog although it was digital.(I know i'm stuck in the past.)But were the DD-2 was failing was this is a digital delay and it was very basic and limited..So after my research of digital delays i decided to pony up for the Nova delay even though i was somewhat skeptical expecting just another hyped up pedal with a bunch of gimmicks ..Well the Nova delay has alot of gimmicks thats for sure. But they are not just gimmicks but usable functions. They are settings that are not just play toys..The bells and whistles can be used in a musical way and not just to make space noises. Not only does it have all these options but it is actually user friendly which was surprising with all the options it has and i'm about the farthest thing from what would be considered technical mind. But when it comes right down to it all the bells and whistles ease of use don't mean anything if the pedal doesn't sound good.Nothing to fear here with this unit either..It has made me actually consider making this as my primary delay instead of my beloved analog delays..It sounds that good..So for me the bottom line is yes the $219 is a lot to spend on any pedal..But i have spent more and received much less..Although it is not a bargain you get what you pay for with this pedal..

        By jms-2m-OL

Comments about TC Electronic ND-1 Nova Delay Guitar Effects Pedal:

My rack consists of 3 delay pedals. The harazai memory man, the line 6 Dl4, and this one. I have also owned and/or played shows with the akai head rush, original memory man, and a verity of boss and digitech delays. Out of all of them my favorites are this pedal and the original memory man. Nothing compares to true analog delay, but then again, nothing compares to the clarity and tone of this pedal. I recommend this pedal to anyone who is serious about music and producing a great delay sound. Don't fall pray to the hype of more popular pedals like boss. They don't even come close. Anyone who thinks less of this pedal should try it again, maybe through a nice tube amp too. It sounds incredible through my vox ac 15 blue back.

Comments about TC Electronic ND-1 Nova Delay Guitar Effects Pedal:

I use this for it's digital delays - of which it is excellent. Being able to set the exact bpm, having 9 presets, along with a plethora of other options is enough to make me want another. For it's price it is comparable to the DL4 and Boss Gigadelay, but those fall short. The DL4 is inconsistent and the Gigadelay is simply not in the same ballpark. I'd do it all over again if I had to.

Comments about TC Electronic ND-1 Nova Delay Guitar Effects Pedal:

I bought this unit in Feb. 2008 after 2 Boss DD3's failed in 2 months. This unit sounds fabulous! It takes a bit of time to get the controls mastered but with a little time and a close read of the owners manual it's pretty straight forward. Some say that it sounds dead and sterile....not so at all. This delay is a GIGO (Garbage In Garbage Out) type unit. If you send Garbage in one end you will most definately get Garbage out the other. On the other hand if you input some solid playing and the controls are set properly, the output is pure beauty. It's a very nice , warm sounding sounding device, maybe a bit overpriced in todays market, but surely one of the best sounding, most versatile delay pedals I've ever owned.
