TC Electronic

A dual engine analog overdrive/distortion pedal with digital controls and G-System integration.

Guitarists everywhere, start your engines, because your tone is about to take a new turn! Introducing the NDR-1 Nova Drive, TC Electronic's dual engine, digitally controllable, true bypass overdrive/distortion effect pedal, that features the awesome analog drive circuit ported from the acclaimed Nova System.

The TC Electronic Nova Drive pedal brings you the great sounding analog circuit from Nova System, with all the digital control that modern guitarists demand. The result: classic old school sound that ensures chills down your spine and a wide grin at every riff, lick, and face-melter with digital control options that enable you to integrate NovaDrive into your setup and tailor the sound with total precision, resulting in more control, resulting in more confidence, and ultimately resulting in a better performance. Finally you have a place to create, store and recall all the distorted and overdriven sounds you could ever need: Nova Drive.

The Overdrive Section
The analog, yet digitally controlled overdrive section of the NDR-1 Nova Drive effects pedal takes you from a clean boost plus a little extra oomph, through bluesy sting and smooth tube-like breakup to heavy, all-out crunch-a-licious goodness.

Nova Drive's overdrive section is also the perfect place to find added sustain for your existing sounds and to supercharge your already great sounds into instant classics. Its amazing analog tone will blow you and other tone purists away and though the overdrive is instantly recognizable, it doesn't mess with your original tone that you've spent so many hours creating, ensuring easy integration into your current sound.

The overdrive section on the guitar pedal features a dedicated 'mix' knob that allows you to mix in your original sound as you see fit, preserving the original character of your tone. The overdrive section of Nova Drive guitar pedal also features Level, Tone, and Overdrive controls. Added to that, the preset and control options of Nova Drive ensure that you don't have to rebuild your setup from scratch to use it—the pedal works to enhance your tone and rig. It integrates with your existing sounds so well, it's best described as adding another channel to your amp.

The Distortion Section
The dedicated analog, digitally controlled distortion section of Nova Drive's dual engine design gives you a wide range of distortion and tones from punchy subtle driving distortion to balls-to-the-wall screaming fuzz that'll drive you wild in the best way imaginable.

Nova Drive's distortion features a 2-band equalization section with Bass and Treble knobs, allowing for precise shaping of your distorted sounds and added flexibility to your tones. Nova Drive's distortion character is best typified as raw, but like the overdrive section, it preserves all character of your own sound. Used as a primary distortion, it excels at classic arena rock rhythm tones and guitar-hero soaring leads.

Do you have a powerful amp with too much headroom to crank? Nova Drive nails that sweet spot where a tube amp goes from sparkly clean to warm overdrive, minus the earsplitting volume. Maybe you already love your rig's overdriven and distorted sound? In that case the Nova Drive distortion section is the perfect solution as a boost for solos, giving you all the extra kick you could ever need.

Flexibility
Both the overdrive and distortion in Nova Drive have gain ranges that will take you anywhere from creamy soulful blues to a 'chunky face-melter announcing the apocalypse' type distortion. Add the 3 different routing options when stacking the overdrive and distortion (OD > DIST— DIST > OD— Parallel) and Nova Drive is capable of delivering a very wide range of tones, arming you with awesome sounds wherever your creativity may take you.

Presets
So, what good is having a wide range of tones when you can only use one of them? That's right, no good at all! With 18 instantly recallable presets Nova Drive is the only pedal on the market that allows for actual use of all the different tones you have so meticulously crafted. Recalling them is easy and done on the fly so they are ready to rock when you are.

True bypass
Whether you go for the sound of the apocalypse or the sound of silence; Nova Drive is true bypass which means no sucking of your precious tone when the pedal is off.

MIDI
Nova Drive can be fully controlled via MIDI. It is possible to change presets, toggle the overdrive and distortion on/off, change routing, and access all parameters in real time with continuous controllers. This is made easy and straightforward, so even if you think Floyd Rose is Axl's younger brother, setting up Nova Drive to work in a midi-based setup is a breeze. This unique feature makes the TC Electronic Nova Drive the perfect fit for any rack- or midi-based setup—even those huge rigs you'd expect Batman to use if he played.

Pimp your G-System
Nova Drive is the ultimate G-System accessory. A connected Nova Drive will automatically be discovered through plug-and-play technology. Once they are matched like Brangelina, you get full access to all Nova Drive parameters, preset select, and routing from the G-System menu as if Nova Drive was an internal G-System effect. This even includes modifiers, making it possible to control the amount of distortion or overdrive in real time using your G-System's expression pedal.

4 applications
The TC Electronic Nova Drive can be used as a standalone pedal, with a G-Switch, in a rack setup, or with a G-System. Whether you're a straightforward "less squawkin', more rockin'"—stompbox guy or into freaking around with hi-tech rack setups, Nova Drive effect pedal is guaranteed to integrate perfectly into your existing rig, or that "I am SO getting that once I get me some cash" dream rig of the future.

Comments about TC Electronic NDR-1 Nova Drive Overdrive and Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

You're getting two discrete pedals in one: an overdrive and a distortion pedal. But unlike similar pedals, this one lets you control the routing path. You can have the OD go into the distortion, the distortion go into the overdrive or have the dry signal split, control the amount of OD on one side and distortion on the other, then control how much of each gets put into the wet signal at the end.

It's rock solid, and the size of the Nova Repeater (and I'm guessing most Nova pedals). Unlike the Repeater, this pedal _needs_ 12V: there's no fallback to 9V. Controls are all analog, so you dial in what you want: but the pots are digital so you can store your settings once you have that perfect tone dialed in.

If you're looking for a screaming, face melting, metal distortion pedal, this ain't it. Other than that I've gotten great sounds for my Artcore, my SG, and even my Seagull Acoustic (everything is better with OD  ).

There are 18 preset alots, and you can set the two footswitches to either turn each side (dist/OD) on or off, toggle between one or the other, or set them to toggle between two different presets (They have to be stored next to each other: 1 and 2 is Bank 1, 3 and 4 Bank 2, etc...) so you can have one for playing rhythm than with a single step you've changed your whole OD/Distortion set up for your leads (or vice-versa). The routing is stored as part of the preset so you're changing both sides and the signal path with one click.

They've even put in a way for you to check the settings of a preset in case you forget - and you should go through the 18 factory installed ones, those seem designed to show you what each knob does/can do more than anything else, though some do sound good.

If you've got room on your pedalboard, and aren't married to any other specific pedal out there, you should really give this one a try if you can.

Comments about TC Electronic NDR-1 Nova Drive Overdrive and Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

I tried this with two amps, one tube, one solid state and three guitars, single coil, humbuckers, and both. Despite trying a variety of things I was never able to derive any usable tones. There was considerable delay in any adjustments. Most tones sounded the the same. The overdrive, which is why a bought the the pedal, was languid. It barely had any distinction, burn, or character. The distortion could be had from any conventional pedal.
Maybe this was defective, but I really tried to get something usable from it but could not. I returned it.

One of the Best Pedals in it;s Class

Comments about TC Electronic NDR-1 Nova Drive Overdrive and Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

This pedal has all the desirable features you might ever need and it is two pedals in one
TC Electronics is a long time player in guitar related electronics and effects. It's no suprise this is one of their best offerings. I have been using this pedal for years both live and in the studio. I have tried many, many overdrive and distortion pedals, including all the popular names, but the Nova Drive is the one I turn to to dial in any sound that all other pedals put out in one way or another, excepting extreme high gain.

That you have overdrive for just a little grit to more, and then Distortion for more full tilt rock, this pedal disahes it out in spades. Quality and clarity is as good as it gets IMO and the range of tone and genres that this pedal can cover is a lot...

Oh and did I mention that it plays nice with other pedals AND works great with single coil and humbuckers....Roger that...

The option to order the OD and Distorion as well as blend the two make for a lot of flexibilty. I have rotated various pedals on my pedalboard, but this one is permanent....
I would rarely say anything is Fantastic, but this pedal deserves it
Mama said, "Cheap things aren't good and good things aren't cheap..." You get what you pay for...

      The Nova Drvie

      By da-matt-yo!

      from Undisclosed

Comments about TC Electronic NDR-1 Nova Drive Overdrive and Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

Overall, i could not be more pleased with my purchase. The pedal is all that and a bag of chips! I cannot recommend this pedal enough! It may not have the legendary overdrive tone of a Klon Centaur or Rockbox Boiling Point, but for me it has what I want and more! Definitely worth purchasing. But when it boils down to it, its based on your own individual ears. So give this one a whirl!
Let me begin by saying that even though I have only been playing guitar for a couple years, I am still opinionated when it comes to tone. And one the thing that urks me when it comes to od pedals is trying to get a nice, smooth overdrive without the annoying (well, to me this is annoying) warble sound. Mission accomplished with the Nova Drive! I love how easy it use, even for how advanced the Nova pedals are. I was using my buddy's Boss Overdrive/Distortion pedal for awhile, and it was an ok pedal in my opinion, but I just couldn't find a tone that I digged with using it for my tele, and I had messed with it for an hour. When I had initially gotten the Nova Drive, it took me about a minute to find a tone that I wanted! It is really simple to use! The ability to save presets is extremely helpful too, such if you play in church and in the fast songs you use alot of overdrive but in the slow songs you just want a little bite, no matter! Just save the two different tones as presets instead of having to manually fiddle with the knobs during transition! And also, the pedal has not just analog od, but analog distortion! Doesnt get much better than that. Plus, this may seem insignificant to some but this is huge to me: the overdrive and distortion have their own dedicated switches. So instead of have a knob for mixing between the color of overdrive and distortion like alot of other pedals, you just choose which one you want without having to bend down and mess with the settings!
The quality is extremely good! I had actually bought mine from this site as a restock model, and it was still like new! So quality is no problem there!
Excellent value for a pedal that is both a overdrive and distortion, and fully analog but digitally controlled.

      TC Electronic Nova Drive

      By Len Salinis Jr

Comments about TC Electronic NDR-1 Nova Drive Overdrive and Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

Great Analog OD that keeps your Guitar tone. I also like how you can stack the OD and Dist. together. Yous may also set the dist. side as another OD if you so want. Very Versital Pedal, well actually it is TWO sep. pedals with sep. controls! Well Worth it!
I'd give it a 10 if it accepted power from my pedalboards supply, but a Minor quibble since it does come with a plug in supply.
Seems to be VERY SOLID...time will tell... I Love the SILENT Foot Switching!
      I purchased item on sale!

      Perfect for any serious guitarist

Comments about TC Electronic NDR-1 Nova Drive Overdrive and Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

Simply put, this pedal is brilliant, I havent used my amp distortion since I got it. One of the most versatile pedals I've ever used, this puppy will give you the right sound for almost any genre. I pair mine with an Ibanez Jemini and the combination is beautiful, I may never buy another distortion agin! One of my favorite features in the routing button, which allowes you to select the ordering of the overdive and distorion. The parallel setting splits the signal and runs it through each separatly , allowing you to do very heavy rhythm withought it getting muddy when you turn up the gain.Overall this pedal is amazing, I highly recomend it to any serious guitarist.Pros: Versatility (you can control everything down to what type of bypass you'd prefer), briliant sound on virtually every settingCons: it uses a 12v adaptor (included, but my pedalboard only powers 9v pedals), the input/output jacks are in the top instead of the sides (that's really all I could think of that I dont like about this pedal)

      Great Pedal

      By ZiZO

      from Cairo, Egypt

Comments about TC Electronic NDR-1 Nova Drive Overdrive and Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

I got this pedal over a month ago and I'm very happy with it. It's very versatile and able to produce any overdrive/distortion I would need for what I play. The sound is rich and clear and it doesn't eat up my PRS Custom 24 tone at all. It's very responsive to volume and tone changes from my guitar as well. The pedal is excellent and fairly easy to use. I only gave it 4 on the quality because it's not as solid as my Boss pedals, but then again no other pedal is!!!Overall I recommend it to anyone who is into rock, I don't play blues but I'm pretty sure it can do the job. Visit any guitar shop near you and try it out, it's definitely worth it.

Comments about TC Electronic NDR-1 Nova Drive Overdrive and Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

If you are looking for clarity and quality in your distortion this is the pedal. It make sound your guitar really pro, and is a real complement to the g-system, personally I have been working with other distortion boxes, and this is a great pedal, you can create a lot of colours combinating distortion and overdrive. And the sound quality is exceptional.

      Nova Drive

      By Tone Chaser-u4IL2

Comments about TC Electronic NDR-1 Nova Drive Overdrive and Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

Got a Nova Drive and it stopped working the second day. Will try another cos' I have the G-system and it works well with that system but I sure did not expect this pedal to die so soon. Especially since TC-E's main selling point is "Analog Pedal". It sounded good when it worked though. If you have the g-system it's like having many different pedals cos' the settings can be changed via MIDI from the G. Very Cool, and I was just really getting into it when it died. :(
