Supercool features squarely aimed at getting into tune and back to rocking ASAP

Tuning used to be a necessary evil. The last barrier before you could get truly rocking. But now, tuning is ready to get blasted into the 21st century with PolyTune, the stomp-box sized tuning miracle from TC Electronic!

Polyphonic Tuning Couldn’t Be Done - Until TC Electronic Did It
With PolyTune, you simply strum all strings on your guitar or bass at once, and it will immediately tell you which strings need tuning! It really is as simple as strum - tune - rock, and this quantum leap forward allows you to get in tune fast, and back to doing what you love: playing!

Tuning Modes
With modes ranging from Drop D, five semitones flat and capo tuning on frets 1-7 gives you the freedom to do what you want creatively and know PolyTune has your back.

Old Skool - Still Cool
You want a chromatic tuner? You got it! PolyTune features MonoPoly a technology that allows PolyTune to detect whether you play one or multiple strings and react lightning by changing to chromatic mode if that's what you need. Our chromatic tuner is second to none when it comes to accuracy and speed.

Backstage Pass - All Access
PolyTune's features are supercool and squarely aimed at getting in into tune and back to rocking ASAP.

Tuning Magnet
The tuner magnet feature slows down the needle once you get close to the desired pitch, making it much easier to get the job done quickly.

MonoPoly
MonoPoly is a jaw-dropping new technology that recognizes whether you play one or more strings and instantly replies with the appropriate poly- or monophonic tuning mode.

Total Recall
PolyTune stores your preferences. From pitch reference to tuning mode, it hangs on to this information even after it is powered down, making sure you only have to set how you want things to happen once.

What is the Matrix?
PolyTune features 17 rows of LEDS which allow for a higher resolution and the LEDs themselves are super bright and focused to ensure optimal visibility at all times.

True Bypass
This allows for your carefully sculpted tone to flow unaffected when the pedal is bypassed and for silent tuning once engaged.

Chromatic Champ
Besides the Polyphonic tuner, PolyTune has a chromatic tuner that can hang with the best current tuning technology out there, with an amazing 0.5 cent accuracy.

PolyTune: Strum – Tune – Rock!
PolyTune is the world’s first polyphonic tuner – a multiple patents pending, game-changing total tuning turnaround that allows you to instantly gauge the tuning of all your strings simultaneously and tune up on the fly, all strings at once. What else can be said besides: BAM, son!

Ain't it cute? This mini version appears to track better than my full size white Polytune and seems brighter in direct light. Could be the light is more concentrated in a smaller display but the needle also doesn't bounce around as much near in-tune. Also, the "noir" (black) looks better and takes up less space on my pedalboard. Cheaper than full size but keep in mind does not have space for battery - needs power adapter.

This tuner cut the line signal too much. "True bypass" I think not. When disengaged (tuner off) it drastically reduced the line signal on my pedal board. Unacceptable. When engaged there is a lot of "white noise" leaking through. Unacceptable. I put my old tuner box back on my pedalboard and will have to live with its poor legibility because it is completely transparent on my line signal.

Comments about TC Electronic PolyTune Noir:

I received the Polytune Mini Noir recently. Love the black color even though it was not an ultimate deal breaker. The small size afforded the ability to fit two mini sized pedals where there used to be one. That opened up another space on my pedal board. I liked how fast and responsive this tuner is. Have not really used the Poly tune aspect yet and still need to test the visibility at a bright daylight gig. But its working out great so far! VERY pleased!

Excellent product! Easy to use and nice and small. No wasted room on your board. Beware- you must power it from a PedalPower or something like that. It will not take a battery. Great Tuner!

Comments about TC Electronic PolyTune Noir:

This little tuner works very well. I guess I was a little behind the times because I had never heard of or used a poly tuner before. I was a little skeptical of how well it would really work in poly tune mode, but was not disappointed. When you strum all the strings, you really can easily tell which strings are out of tune. If you don't want to use poly tune mode, you don't have to do anything other than pluck an individual string, and it automatically goes into standard tuner mode. The display is very easy to see on a stage that may sometimes be dark. The tuner appears to be as sensitive as an analog meter-type tuner. This tuner does not use a battery and requires a separate power supply that is not included. I ended up finding one in my junk box, but you're supposed to be able to purchase one somewhere. I think the external power supply is a good idea, as batteries would not last very long with this unit's LED display.

The tuner has an input and an output jack. As with most stage-type tuners, you plug your instrument into the tuner's input, and connect the tuner's output to your effect pedals/amp/stage input or whatever. When the tuner is off (not in tuning mode), its display is off and the tuner is in "bypass" mode, meaning that the signal from your instrument goes straight through it with no added noise or attenuation (as far as I can tell). When you press the switch to turn the tuner on, its display turns on and its output is muted. In other words, you can tune your instrument without the audience hearing you tune (or without the sound person having to mute you).

It's disappointing that that it doesn't come with a manual. However, it's so easy to use that you hardly need one, but if you want one you will have to download it from the company's site. The ad says nothing about this and doesn't even reference a website. The website is http://www.tcelectronic.com, and you have to look for the manual for the "PolyTune Mini" because it seems that the Noir was a limited edition tuner for which a manual was never written. That's not a big deal, though, because it looks like the Mini is almost exactly the same as the Noir. A greater concern is that the ad doesn't say anywhere that the power supply is not included with the tuner, which is required for it to work. Again, there is no link or easy way to buy one. I learned about the power supply from reading other reviews, but this is basic information that should be included. I'm giving this 5 stars because it's a great tuner, but it's pretty bad when you have to find basic information from other reviews that should have been included in the ad. Really, Musician's Friend, I love buying from you guys, but you need to update the information for this tuner.

My only concern with purchasing the small version of the magical little TC Polytune was whether I'd be able to read it easily while staring at it way down there on the floor. Thankfully, everything I need to know is all perfectly visible!

Comments about TC Electronic PolyTune Noir:

If you're looking to save space on your pedalboard, this little guy is the best option. I used my BOSS TU-3 for 3 years and sold it due to lack of space. I'm a bass player and I don't use a huge pedalboard, just the essentials but still needed space (plus the NOIR looks hot on my pb).

After using TU-3 and getting used to it, it's hard to move to a different one, but believe me, is a great replacement.

Many people rate it low since it doesn't have battery supply (and this guy doesn't come with adapter) so it suits perfect since I use a T-Rex Fuel Tank.

If you're one of those who waste money on batteries (instead of using a power supply), don't even bother to buy this one. If you use power supply and are looking to save space: this is your best option.

Comments about TC Electronic PolyTune Noir:

This is a good tuner. I love how small it is. Why waste pedalboard space on something like a tuner? Due to it's size and weight it doesn't stay put if used on it's own (resting on the floor), so when you move around it tends to follow you. Display is bright and easy to read. Tuner is very responsive. The only problem is that it's not very good with bass. I usually have to do the harmonics at the 12th fret or else it's slow to respond and is less accurate. The polytune feature doesn't work with bass, either. I'll strum all 4 strings and it gets very confused. I don't mind, though.

These might be a drawbacks for some people:
-no battery power. It's plug-in only. Not a problem for me.
-true bypass. this can be good or bad. I'm not running a long cable into it (10ft) so it's fine but it's usually best to have a buffered pedal at the beginning and end of a long chain to help keep signal integrity.

Comments about TC Electronic PolyTune Noir:

This is a great pedal! I power it through a voodoo power plus 2 and I have never head any white noise or any signal disturbance. I was slightly worried it would take me awhile to get used to the polyphonic tuning feature but within 10minutes it was easy to read and super fast.

It also has a button on the side to change to different tuning. I play allot of variety so this was super helpful and something I didn't know it had before I Got it. It's not a deal breaker but definitely a great feature in an already amazing little pedal.

If you are looking for a quick responsive tuning pedal that wont break the bank and leave a small footprint on your pedal board this is the one!!
