OVERVIEW

A downright psychedelic flanger that goes from subtle swirl to full-on, 747 take-off sounds.

This TC Electronic Vortex Flanger Guitar Effects Pedal will take you from a classic flange sound to a 747 taking off! Vortex Flanger allows you to toggle between a classic flange or a through zero tape-flange plus a custom TonePrint of your choice, while the Speed, Depth, Feedback and Delay-Time controls give you a creative and expansive palette of tonal options.

Vortex Flanger is built with guitarists in mind; so it features a small footprint, easy-access battery hatch and is built with the highest-grade components. Vortex Flanger has a true bypass design, and features analog-dry-through.

This pedal ranges from a brain twisting through-zero-flange tape echo over more contemporary sounds to an all-out flange-war, which ensures you will always be able to find the appropriate flange for the job at hand. Vortex Flanger's through-zero option also gives you the ability to get both a negative and a positive effect to your flange sounds, while the other options allow you to go from a classic tube-type flanger to a more soft sounding tape flanger. The knobs allow you to set the speed of the modulation, but also the depth and the intensity, giving you a set of well-rounded controls. You are also able to set the delay time, which is they key to finetuning the effect, no matter if you're going for subtle flanging or more extreme jet flanging sounds. Finally, the Feedback knob allows you to feed the modulated signal back into the pedal, which basically gives you more of everything that's so cool about flanging.

But there is more to Vortex Flanger than meets the eye. It's called TonePrint. Via a simple USB-connection, TonePrint allows you to download custom tunings made by your favorite guitarists straight into your pedal, easy, free and fast. A vast and ever-expanding roster of the finest guitarists alive are working to give you their custom TonePrint settings.

Comments about TC Electronic Vortex Flanger TonePrint Series Guitar Effects Pedal:

I am a novice bass player but I really like this flanger. The control options are amazing, especially for those who choose to use the toneprint editor provided by TC Electronics. Even without the editor the three modes and numerous toneprints allow even amateurs such as myself to have a strong starting point to get specific sounds. Toneprints are easy to change through the smartphone app. I personally did not like the tape/through zero flanger mode, but that is not something I was looking for anyway. The range of flange goes from light chorus to insane, unusable (to me at least) fluctuating noise. The analog dry through keeps the low end from being cut. The pedal also supports both true and buffered bypass for pedalboard versatility. Overall its well worth the price and lots of fun.

Comments about TC Electronic Vortex Flanger TonePrint Series Guitar Effects Pedal:

This pedal has way more range than I wanted or needed (that's usually the way of it with me and digital effects...). I just need a little ~warble~ to warm up solid-body guitar 'clean tone', and chorus/phase tone annoys me from overuse. This is a compact, rugged, reputable unit that I bought for my pedalboard, confident that I'd easily dial in the exact bit of flange I need. I did...the bottom is 'velcro-friendly' for my board, sturdy on/off. I'm old, myself; from a time where we played guitar and twisted knobs ourselves to learn the paramaters, and to find the sounds we sought. This Vortex series of pedals, however, has a little USB port on the end, for those too busy to do that themselves--their 'idols' (according to the information) have done that for them--and they can simply download the presets. So, that could be a bonus for some: you can let John Petrucci et al turn your knobs for you(!), if you're so inclined...Mine just does what I wanted it to, and I expect it will continue to for some time. For my application, this is a better, more durable, studio-quality flange than others in it's price range, and I'd recommend it above the Roland/Boss, DigiTech-type of stand-alone flangers.

Comments about TC Electronic Vortex Flanger TonePrint Series Guitar Effects Pedal:

I wasn't jazzed about the sound of this pedal. It was very vanilla sounding. Ok for chorusing or light flange but in a gig situation doesn't really cut through the mix like say the Line 6 Liqua-Flange which alas is no longer made...There is a slight volume drop when the pedal is engaged. The through zero flanging is pretty nice but very touchy to get set just right and near impossible to set on the fly. The pedal will not self oscillate or get even close which is a deal breaker for me as I occasionally like to venture into non-musical territory. The pedal is very well constructed. The downloadable toneprints are pretty cool. But, I found myself wanting to get more out of the pedal than it seemed able to provide. I ended up with a Mooer Eleclady which is pretty close to the original Electric Mistress and around half the price of the Vortex. I am happier with it but still looking...

Comments about TC Electronic Vortex Flanger TonePrint Series Guitar Effects Pedal:

First off, this flanger is unique because it has stereo IN and out. A very rare feature on such a reasonably priced Flanger.

Second, it can be set up to do extreme "through-zero" flanging. You know on some albums how there's flanger and it is so extreme the sound fizzles out and then back in? That's sound waves cancelling eachother out. Most flangers are built to not get near that territory.

My only problem is I need a second one so I'm not fiddling with knobs mid-song.

                Very Nice Pedal

Comments about TC Electronic Vortex Flanger TonePrint Series Guitar Effects Pedal:

I am completely satisfied with what TC gave me for my money.
This pedal can go from subtle and chorus like to full swirl. It sounds good for both clean and dirty settings on my amp which is a Mesa Boogie Mark IV. I am running this pedal in mono and in front of the amp. This pedal is last in my front of amp effects chain. It sounds really liquidy and can be adjusted to your liking. I am using the John Petrucci clean tone print. Does not sound digital at all. Bypass works great. Absolutely nothing bad to say about this pedal. Def worth the money. Am now jonesing for the reverb and delay toneprint series... Already own the corona chorus which is another TC pedal I am very happy about.
Good sturdy etal casing,,,, rugge dknobs with just the right amount of resitance. Mini toggle positioned where you won't stomp on it. Inputs and Outputs arranged in their typical positions. Fairly easy access to the battery compartment. attractive color and LED indictaror.
As i said about the Corona... I little pricey but not really that bad considering how good it sounds and it does sound better than some other more expensive units.
