OVERVIEW

The guitar pedal for your voice.

The Harmony Singer is the perfect partner for focusing on your vocals. It's an essential and exciting vocal processing no larger than a guitar stomp box, but with a massive sound. Whether you're electric, electro-acoustic, pro or practicing, your vocal presentation will sound like your group just increased by a couple of backup singers, an expert engineer and a ton of gear.

It's an all-in-one, compact pedal featuring Vocal Harmony, Tone and Reverb. You can utilize up to two harmony voices guided automatically by the guitar via the In/Thru connection. The Adaptive Tone "sweetens" overall vocal quality and 3 high-quality Reverb styles with adjustable level.

Tone is much more than just a four-letter word. Under the hood of Harmony Singer is a collection of high end audio processes tweaked to perfection. Smooth dynamics? Check. Silky brightness? Check. Reduced "sss" sounds? Check. No more muddy lows? Check. And these processes automatically adapt to the tone and dynamic range of your singing so that even with an average PA, you'll always sound your best.

You won't have to brush up on your vocal arranging skills as Harmony Singer does this for you. It instantly analyzes your guitar chords so that when you hit the footswitch, your harmony backup group is in tune and on time. When it's this easy, you'll find yourself trying harmony in songs you wouldn't have thought of before.

Sure everything has reverb in it these days, but when your reverb sounds great it makes you equally great. TC Helicon's sister company, TC Electronic is renowned in the pro-audio community for the quality of its reverb algorithms and the styles in Harmony Singer hark directly from that lineage. The Room, Club and Hall styles are all built to flatter your voice, so go ahead and crank it up, your audience will love it.

Of course you don't want to announce your next song or chat to the folks with Rverb on. Holding the Harmony on/off button puts you into Talk mode where your voice is still processed by Tone but the Reverb and Harmony effects are turned off. A quick tap and you're back in the land of pristine ambience.

If you've ever connected a mic to your PA, you're ready to connect Harmony Singer. Mic to Harmony Singer and Harmony Singer to PA. Nice and easy. Your guitar connects the same way you'd connect your other stomp box effects - only it likes to be first in the chain.

Only rated it 4 stars because is anything perfect? There are just so many bogus reviews from people who love something just bcause they own it. I had the G-XT version but it just was too large for pedal board AND the connections were a total hassle and NOT robust. The Harmony Singer fixes that issue. For me, this is the easiest vocal harmony pedal to use. I have had the original voice live which was a tap dance nightmare. I also tried the Digitech 3. Eh. TC has them all beat in my opinion. I do wish it had selectable keys so that it could be used without the guitar plugged into it (studio use).

The harmonies do sound real provided you do not set the harmony level prominent in the mix. I have no tracking issues with it. It will get used at gigs to cover harmonies that the rest of the band can't get right or when a new song is ready except for one harmony part......like the G-XT was used. Set the harmony level low and the other guy can lock on to it to sing his part correctly. It is another tool to add to my arsenal. Here's the clincher for me. The TONE button. Worth the price of the pedal just for the TONE feature. Almost bought the H1 but that TONE button.........couldn't live without it. Buy it.

I have a TC Helicon Voice mode and I play my keyboards through it. Works great. Bought this as I wanted a backup for gigs. But.....this Harmony Singer Effects Pedal cannot be used with a keyboard. Only a guitar, so it was a waste of time for me. But it did have great harmony sounds.

Comments about TC Helicon Harmony Singer Effects Pedal:

I wanted something easy to use, almost idiot proof. I checked the reviews on U Tube and decided this would fill the bill. This is simple beyond belief and sounds like heaven. Think back to when you couldn't line up someone to sing harmony or you want to sing by yourself and engage the audience, or there isn't enough tip money to split. Ha! One thing you need to know is that your guitar MUST be in tune. Not just in tune but perfect pitch otherwise it will confuse the singers and they will be all over the place. Good luck with your new toy.

Comments about TC Helicon Harmony Singer Effects Pedal:

First one I received worked well for a few days, but then the guitar through jack quit working. No instrument sounds coming through means no directives to the unit for what harmony pitches to use (ie: no minors or 7ths. Musician's Friend replaced it overnight in time for a gig (HUGE kudos on the customer service!) The second one is operating well so far. The unit is super easy to use, pretty accurate pitch-wise, and has excellent sound quality. The tone button really adds to the mix. Sans the fragile jack issue with the first one, I would highly recommend it.

Super easy to use and adjust on the fly. Sound quality was great. Love the tone button. Made my voice sound really good even when pedal not depressed. Wish the pedal had a manual over ride for the key. Some of my songs came in a half step short of key. Others were fine. No rhyme or reason that I could tell. Traded it in for a Voicelive that has more control over sound output and manual over ride. FYI - I had to run both pedals thru a direct box. Otherwise they were too hot for my PA, even on the minimum setting. I have a Fender Passport PA.

I'm an experienced keyboard player having started playing piano in church when I was 10 y\o. I'm now 57 and have played organ and piano for over 40 years and also started with a Kurtzweil K-1000 in a gospel group during times when we couldn't keep a drummer, I ended up playing 2 keyboards, singing tenor, AND operating a drum machine with my right foot on 2 pedals. Sooo, come on, give us a harmony pedal for keyboard players. Sorry this is so long. Thx guys.

Comments about TC Helicon Harmony Singer Effects Pedal:

I'm really happy with this pedal. After 21 years performing with my friend as a duo, I found myself doing solo gigs. The female harmony was gone. Just me. Just me for 3-4 hours is boring! Once I plugged my acoustic in and powered up, I was using Harmony Singer and getting some very nice harmonies. Bringing harmonies it in and out on songs like Wagon Wheel, Peaceful Easy Feeling or A Horse With No Name, was instantly gratifying. The built in reverb and EQ in the pedal sounds much better than the onboard effects from my Mackie powered mixer. Easy to use and it sounds great.

This little pedal has great sound and selections
The two problems I face with it though are, With my big feet, it's easy to bump the controls out of position when using it, and finding a 2 way foot switch to operate between two of them has proven to be quite difficult. But I own two of these pedals and would definitely recommend them for the small gig player.

I needed guitar driven harmony for new country and vintage rock live performance. This unit is simple to operate and sounds great. I have tried more complex/expensive units, and prefer the easy flexibility this unit offers with very little compromise in comparative sound quality.

The sound quality with the Tone switch on is very balanced, crisp, produced. It does cause a little feedback though, small adjustments take care of that. The harmonies are absolutely outstanding! The compact size and smooth on/off switch are such a nice change from my old bulky unit! love this little pedal!

Comments about TC Helicon Harmony Singer Effects Pedal:

I watched the videos, read the reviews, and took the leap. It was well worth it. Even without the harmonies, the enhancement that the "tone" button adds to a microphone is amazing. I use a Shure SM58 and run it through either an acoustic amp (practice) or a small PA (performance) and the sound is fantastic. The Peavey PA is lacking in reverb and tone shaping capabilities but this pedal means that I don't have to replace it just yet. The 3 different reverbs on the pedal are excellent and you can actually hear a change in them with a small turn of the dial. There is a lot of range in each one, from very subtle to oops too much. These features alone make the pedal an excellent investment.

Being a solo acoustic performer, the ability to add harmony without adding people is a welcome addition. If you are someone that already writes with harmony in mind, then it is all right there for you. If, like me, you are a single voice kind of guy then the Harmony Singer will open up some doors that you probably should have kicked down long ago. Figuring out which voicings to add takes some tinkering but becomes pretty intuitive with a little experimentation.

The only voicing that I have had some trouble with is the highest, which is a 5th above your voice. My voice is not that high pitched but the 5th above can get a little robot chipmunk sounding. The solution, either dial down your voice or just don't use it, you have other options.

Overall, this is an excellent tool for a solo performer. I could see it being overused, so avoid that, but there is no reason not to have this pedal. I only gave it 4 stars because nothing is perfect, but it's pretty close. Just buy it.
