OVERVIEW

Game changer pedal for acoustic guitarists.

Heavy production has never been more popular, but then again, neither has the singer and the song. Acoustic guitar and vocal presentation is like walking without a net, your music presented in its most exposed format, and your audience appreciates that. The natural companion for any modern singer-songwriter, TC Helicon's Play Acoustic combines all the things you need to make a live acoustic performance shine; lavish vocal sounds, perfect backing harmonies, best-selling guitar FX, and unique processing that makes your six-string sing - in perfect harmony with your voice.

What Every Singer Wants
Keep your vocals clean with a tight reverb or simple harmony - or go all out with tasty delays, thick doubles, edgy hardtuning, cool modulations, and raw distortions - the choice is yours. Best of all, we've improved the portamento and humanization of our renowned harmony effects, making your tireless two-singer backing group more realistic than ever. And don't worry about setting the key. Play Acoustic follows your guitar chords automatically for harmonies that stay in tune and in time. Equipped with the trademarked Adaptive Tone, Play Acoustic acts as your personal sound engineer providing the one feature no singer should be without: automatic intelligent control of Compression, EQ, De-essing, and Gating, giving your voice the impact and presence to always stand out in the mix.

Body Resonance
TC knows guitars as well they know electronics, and they understand that the sound of resonating wood is what gives an acoustic guitar its particular sonic allure, and this is where BodyRez comes in. New and unique to Play Acoustic, the BodyRez algorithm restores acoustic tone to guitars fitted with undersaddle pickups. Carefully placed filters and fast acting compression combine to reduce "piezo-quack", making your amplified guitar sound like the beautiful full-bodied instrument it is. Dial in as much or as little BodyRez as you need and use the handy EQ controls to fine-tune the dynamics of your sound.

Intuitive Controls and Dedicated I/O
Operating and navigating Play Acoustic is as straightforward as it gets. Use the Up/Down footswitches or central knob to easily browse factory presets, or use the GENRE button to find styles that you like. Dedicated VOCAL FX and GUITAR FX buttons let you access effects directly, and the intuitive user interface makes editing simple and fast. Create your own library of presets with the FAVORITE feature for easy "setlist" recall.
Separate mono XLR outputs for vocals and guitar makes it painless for any sound engineer to mix the levels perfectly for your audience, or you can set the output to Stereo and create your own custom panoramic stereo mix.

  • Complete vocal path including Tone, Harmony, HardTune, Reverb, Double, Delay, μMod (chorus/flange, etc.), and Transducer (megaphone/distortion FX)

If any of you have purchased the Voice Live Play GTX - as far as the vocals are concerned, you will be getting the exact same thing. There is nothing newer or better as far as the vocals are concerned. Where this unit shines is with the guitar FX. The BodyRes is amazing and makes your guitar sound full. What's also nice is having the ability to either go out stereo or using the L/R XLR outputs as DI's for vocal and guitar.

The only thing that I do not like about this unit is that it does not have an instrument thru like the VoiceLive Play GTX. That would have been nice to have if I want to go to an acoustic amp.

Other than that - this is a great unit to have for any singer/songwriter.

I love all my tc helicon voiclive up to this point. There is a popping noise that randomly comes out when playing. No matter how good it sounds this noise renders this pedal useless. There is a clear bug in it somewhere. I have now had 3 and they all did it. Consider yourselves warned. My advise is stay away until the issue is fixed.

Comments about TC Helicon Play Acoustic Voice Processor for Acoustic Guitarists:

First of all, this is the most fun I've had with a new effects pedal in a long time. The harmonies are real time and the stackings are unlimited only to your imagination! Sounds so real that my musician wife wants to use it everytime I use it! I guess I have to share this time!

Comments about TC Helicon Play Acoustic Voice Processor for Acoustic Guitarists:

I don't usually write reviews, but I have to say this thing is GREAT! I am a solo Country performer and do nothing but older style country music. While there is a bit of a "learning curve" to the Play Acoustic, once you figure it out the tones and harmonies are true and fantastic! I've only been using it for a few months, but it has opened up a whole new world of musical possibilities. Everyday I get people asking how do I get harmony with just one person and compliments on the sound.
There are a couple of tricks I might pass on here; first, don't have your monitor too close to the mic. The machine can pick up the sounds from the monitor and make your harmony sound like you're under water. Second, when using the Play Acoustic, the old adage "less is more" comes into play a lot. Unless you want to sound like the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, back off the output. I use it to "enhance" my sound, not overpower it. Also, your vocal timbre can have a effect on how the overall harmony sounds.
I highly recommend this product to everyone. As I said, I do a solo gig and I could easily see how a duo, trio, or even a band with each member using one could blow people's minds!

Comments about TC Helicon Play Acoustic Voice Processor for Acoustic Guitarists:

As a worship leader in a small church I wanted to be sure we had a consistent sound each week, add harmony when we needed it and give us a more polished sound. The playAcoustic is exactly what I needed.
I use the BodyRes to smooth out my guitar, the reverb to fill in the room and clean up my voice and then I added a 3rd or 5th above to give the vocal a lift on the choruses. Boy, it's a big difference without being over the top. I love how simple it is to use and the built in tuner and separate DIs for vocals and guitar are perfect. I would highly recommend this unit.

This is a very basic effects pedal. I can not tell much difference from one effect to the other. Sounds ok. Will mostly use at home, no way I'd play out with it. I have my voice live 2 for that.
