I had the VocalLive 2 but found it a bit overwhelming and difficult to use onstage because of it's size and multiple features. The GTX was exactly what I was looking for, a stripped down version to fit perfectly on my pedal board. Same quality, great presents and does everything I was looking for ... Nice job TC-Helicon!!

I bought this for my singer wanna be daughter. However, I planned to use it too and play guitar along with her.
This unit is overkill for basic singing. All you really needed is some good quality reverbs and the ability to directly plug into a standard portable amp. This thing does have decent reverbs for performing (not recording) but MUST go through a mic preamp or mixing board with mic type inputs. It is also very non-intuitive to program. I like the fact that Roland usually has great manuals. TC Helicon cheaped out by not including a decent manual. Even the online manual is lacking. But for all the YouTube videos and other reviews touting the harmonizer and Autotune; I found them completely fake and worse, the harmonies are always off key. No amount of settings adjustments fixed this. And my family actually has pretty good singers...The thing is built like a tank and I LOVE the display and the concept. But after toying with it for nearly 3 weeks, I plan to return it. Biggest Fail: can't direct into a portable amp. 2nd Fail: Harmonies sound superbly fake and won't stay in tune.

Comments about TC Helicon VoiceLive Play GTX Guitar/Vocal Harmony and Effects Pedal:
First off, others have complained about the difficulty of use. I can understand their point, but if you've used other guitar multi-effects, this thing is a walk in the park. As for not working in tune? Well as he old adage goes: Garbage in Garbage out!
In my mind there is some voodoo mojo going on inside this box that is amazing. Plug your guitar in and it will figure out what key you're in and harmonize your voice! Also what I like is that you can split the guitar hard right and vocals hard left making for completely different outputs for different amps. Only complaint is that there's a bit of latency when switching from one sound to the next which is most noticeable when you're continuously playing guitar. Not a deal breaker but a big limitation for the kind of music I play.
All in all extremely pleased and would buy again.

Comments about TC Helicon VoiceLive Play GTX Guitar/Vocal Harmony and Effects Pedal:
....a bit overwhelming to figure out. I'm from the old school...didn't grow up with computers. I've viewed the u-tube tutorials, and they don't seem to go into enough step-by-step detail for beginners to utilize this unit....I probably should have purchased a less advanced unit to start out. Since I'm past the return time window...I'll just slowly, and hopefully, try to figure this thing out....

Comments about TC Helicon VoiceLive Play GTX Guitar/Vocal Harmony and Effects Pedal:
This is a great pedal, the built in effects are everything I hoped they would be. This is an upgrade for me having owned the Harmony G-XT which is a great harmonizer/effects pedal in itself. The VoiceLive Play GTX blows it out of the water. Being able to connect to your computer to share settings makes this pedal very versatile. Thanks TC Helicon for a great product.

Comments about TC Helicon VoiceLive Play GTX Guitar/Vocal Harmony and Effects Pedal:
The Voicelive Play GTX is a very good match for a singing guitarist, singer songwriter, one (wo)man band etc. To my use, both the vocal AND guitar effects are very good to go. The harmonies are very natural, and to my likes, two voices plus both ways octave doubling is more than enough for most situations.
Compared to other TC Helicon units, you get the overdrives/distortions and DELAYs for guitar, plus extended, configurable foot switch control. (I made the 3-pole footswitch myself, they even provide the customer with the schematics).
I get a nice sound for my K&K Pure equipped acoustic guitars, and if needed, the next patch could be overdriven for electric. Being mostly acoustic guitar guy, having the option to play my tele through the unit frees me of all the electric guitar equipment hassle.
I find the build quality very sturdy, connectors and switches included, and editing the parameters intuitive and fast. I can build my whole set list into the patches, starting from no 1, which is handy.
A bit more undoable stereo looping time would be nice addition, and a proper tremolo effect for the guitar. But all in all, it's highly recommendable unit!

Comments about TC Helicon VoiceLive Play GTX Guitar/Vocal Harmony and Effects Pedal:
My equipment budget is very limited so I took a long while to pull the trigger. I have been a singer in bands for 35 years. I am in a couple bands and I love my band mates but backups are week. Although I bought this to fill that gap, I doubt I will use it in that fashion. For me it feels insincere. I discovered much to my surprise that the Voice Live Play GTX has become my biggest source of inspiration in my song writing and musical composition. Totally not the reason I bought it, but absolutely the reason I am keeping it. If you are in a rut with your songwriting and composition this is a great tool of discovery.

Comments about TC Helicon VoiceLive Play GTX Guitar/Vocal Harmony and Effects Pedal:
The WORST piece of equipment I own. Impossible for me to figure out.
I've had it for two months...can't make it do a thing. The instructions are worthless beyond plugging in a mic and guitar. Had my return time frame not expired it would be back in a warehouse now waiting for some other fool to waste $$ on.
Very disappointed in this unit.

Comments about TC Helicon VoiceLive Play GTX Guitar/Vocal Harmony and Effects Pedal:
Bottom Line - Great Product, Nice Features!
For added control I TOTALLY suggest adding the MP-75 (if you perform live)or the Switch-3 foot controller (for studio and live performers). Both are very usefull and VERY affordably priced!
200 Presets plus room for 300 more of your own (or downloaded from the web) is a great feature.
Includes software to manage preset libraries!
You can backup and restore presets, and even download FREE presets from TC's website (over 700 additional presets available currently).
I purchased this unit to solve a problem that most professional recording studios have - inspiring vocalists and sonwriters to do something different with their songs.
Having a unit on the floor with the vocalists, they can explore different sounds, harmonies, and effects without having to come into the control room and watch the engineers mess around with a rack unit!
Just give the vocalist a mic, headphones, and some time to mess around on their own and wonderfull things begin to happen in creativity.
When it's time to record, we can keep the vocals on key with pitch correct, harmony pitch, etc. easily because it supports guitar, keyboard, and even midi input!
This unit has really increased workflow and creativity in the studio!
100% reccomended!
