The first ever combination of complete vocal and guitar processing

TC-Helicon VoiceLive Play GTX takes everything that VoiceLive Play gives to singers and adds award-winning TC Electronic guitar effects and AmpTones. Artist presets offer signature vocal and guitar sounds while full editing ability allows you to define your unique style. Pro or practicing, acoustic or electric, VoiceLive Play GTX is the singing guitarist’s dream machine.

Producers spend more time on perfecting vocals than any other instrument, and the number of layered vocal tracks on a studio recording often runs well into the double-digits. Now the same care for creating vocals live or at home is available to everyone.
VoiceLive Play GTX gives singers the opportunity to experience the sound they know and love from their favorite songs with ease. Featuring automatic backing harmonies, vocal double tracking, pristine EQ and compression, lush reverbs, hard-tuned robo-voice – all the goose-bumps-on-your-arm effects that make today’s Billboard hit vocals pop.

VLOOP performance looper allows you to create a complete performance while turning effects on and off. You can loop your vocals, guitar or both at the same time. Embedded stereo RoomSense mics can control your harmonies from instruments nearby, replace the cabled mic for headphone practice or add ambience to your headphone mix. TC-Helicon’s adaptive tone technology intelligently controls Shape EQ and Dynamics to provide the perfect tonal balance and add smooth dynamic control to fit in any mix. An adaptive gate can also be added to help suppress feedback and reduce bleed.

Plug in your MP3 player and use the Vocal Cancel feature to make your voice stand out over the vocals on the original track. You can also record and play back your singing using the USB connection to your computer. Practice mode analyzes your performance in real-time, helping you spot your strengths as well as focus on areas that might need attention.

  • Add MP-75 or Switch-3 for additional control or performance, effects and looping

The Voicelive Play GTX is a very good match for a singing guitarist, singer songwriter, one (wo)man band etc. To my use, both the vocal AND guitar effects are very good to go. The harmonies are very natural, and to my likes, two voices plus both ways octave doubling is more than enough for most situations.

Compared to other TC Helicon units, you get the overdrives/distortions and DELAYs for guitar, plus extended, configurable foot switch control. (I made the 3-pole footswitch myself, they even provide the customer with the schematics).

I get a nice sound for my K&K Pure equipped acoustic guitars, and if needed, the next patch could be overdriven for electric. Being mostly acoustic guitar guy, having the option to play my tele through the unit frees me of all the electric guitar equipment hassle.

I find the build quality very sturdy, connectors and switches included, and editing the parameters intuitive and fast. I can build my whole set list into the patches, starting from no 1, which is handy.

A bit more undoable stereo looping time would be nice addition, and a proper tremolo effect for the guitar. But all in all, it's highly recommendable unit!

I like this unit, it does all that it claims to and sounds pretty good doing it, HOWEVER, there is a defect on quite a few of these machines. The LCD screen flips randomly, while performing. I could only find an email address for TC Helicon. It took several days for them to respond only to tell me they forwarded my request to a third party for repair in the states. It took about a week for lifetimeservices to contact me to arrange repair. They sent disclaimer for damages incurred to and from their facility and also said warranty repair was at their discretion. Online reviews for lifetime services were pretty bad.
The poor service really kills the product for me. When somethings wrong I want to deal with the company not a warranty contractor.

Comments about TC Helicon VoiceLive Play GTX Guitar/Vocal Harmony and Effects Pedal:

There were no instructions that come with the unit. All of my use has been hit and miss. For the price, you would think that the instructions would come with it. Same with the 75 Microphone.

First musical toy the kids have fought over for 1/2 hour before I got to use it (they love the Kid Rock "Cowboy" Cyborg voice.) Harmonizes with audio or midi in or background noise...every possible combination of 3-part harmony from Barry White to Tinker Bell. Every imaginable voice, electric and acoustic guitar effect in one box. Will take a while to pick my "favorites" and program a few basic new ones for gigs...

Comments about TC Helicon VoiceLive Play GTX Guitar/Vocal Harmony and Effects Pedal:

First, this is a VOCAL PROCESSOR, so it is NOT a very useful guitar processor. The two worst things are the guitar effects are not so great, second thing, is if you want to use your guitar amp, you cannot use any of the effects from the unit from the GUITAR THRU jack, as the guitar effects are DISABLED once you put a cable to your amp. I was hoping to to this as a guitar processor & sometime for vocals. It's not going to work well for me because of that. However...if you are an acoustic guitar solo performer though, simply plug this in, connect it w/ your mic & acoustic/electric plugged into one of those nice expensive Bose units & you are good to go for sure.

Comments about TC Helicon VoiceLive Play GTX Guitar/Vocal Harmony and Effects Pedal:

I'm on a budget but don't want to compromise sound. I also am simplifying my performance gear. This unit (I bought the one with the Sennheiser mic, used, saved a bunch and the unit showed up in next to new condition - what a treat) right out of the box gives useable tones, very nice sound. Some knocks in reviews complain about the learning curve. Nah, anyone who has used a multi will understand the layout, had absolutely NO probs figuring it out and TC has a full manual online as well as support and upgrades.
The Sennheiser mic is wonderful, both it and the TC are well made die-cast and tight.
The jury is still out whether I'll use this for electric as well. Probably will run a separate unit (like Rocktron) to run my strat into the Lee Jackson 50W 4x12 cuz I don't care for canned amps, and use this unit for accoustic and mando. Still, the guitar fx and setup blow most other multis (digitech, etc) out of the water. A great unit.

Comments about TC Helicon VoiceLive Play GTX Guitar/Vocal Harmony and Effects Pedal:

First off, others have complained about the difficulty of use. I can understand their point, but if you've used other guitar multi-effects, this thing is a walk in the park. As for not working in tune? Well as he old adage goes: Garbage in Garbage out!

In my mind there is some voodoo mojo going on inside this box that is amazing. Plug your guitar in and it will figure out what key you're in and harmonize your voice! Also what I like is that you can split the guitar hard right and vocals hard left making for completely different outputs for different amps. Only complaint is that there's a bit of latency when switching from one sound to the next which is most noticeable when you're continuously playing guitar. Not a deal breaker but a big limitation for the kind of music I play.

All in all extremely pleased and would buy again.

Comments about TC Helicon VoiceLive Play GTX Guitar/Vocal Harmony and Effects Pedal:

I bought this for my singer wanna be daughter. However, I planned to use it too and play guitar along with her.
This unit is overkill for basic singing. All you really needed is some good quality reverbs and the ability to directly plug into a standard portable amp. This thing does have decent reverbs for performing (not recording) but MUST go through a mic preamp or mixing board with mic type inputs. It is also very non-intuitive to program. I like the fact that Roland usually has great manuals. TC Helicon cheaped out by not including a decent manual. Even the online manual is lacking. But for all the YouTube videos and other reviews touting the harmonizer and Autotune; I found them completely fake and worse, the harmonies are always off key. No amount of settings adjustments fixed this. And my family actually has pretty good singers...The thing is built like a tank and I LOVE the display and the concept. But after toying with it for nearly 3 weeks, I plan to return it. Biggest Fail: can't direct into a portable amp. 2nd Fail: Harmonies sound superbly fake and won't stay in tune.

This is a great pedal, the built in effects are everything I hoped they would be. This is an upgrade for me having owned the Harmony G-XT which is a great harmonizer/effects pedal in itself. The VoiceLive Play GTX blows it out of the water. Being able to connect to your computer to share settings makes this pedal very versatile. Thanks TC Helicon for a great product.
