Analog reverb emulator with clean boost, now with trails.

Tech 21 brings a fresh perspective to the standard reverb pedal. By incorporating a clean Boost function into this Tech 21 guitar effect pedal, up to 9dB, your solos will jump out with greater dimension. The Boost R.V.B. is designed with user-tweakable, "lo-fi" analog technology. By manipulating the controls, you can infuse degrees of warmth and life characteristic of vintage reverbs. The circuitry intentionally injects the inherent imperfections of vintage units, which is what makes them so seductive and nostalgic. A single, continuously variable time control provides a full sweep of size. The parameters on the Tech 21 Boost R.V.B. effect pedal are engineered so that you can explore and custom-tailor such reverb styles as spring, plate and natural room/hall ambiance.

Comments about Tech 21 RVB-T Boost R.V.B. with Trails Analog Reverb Emulator Guitar Effects Pedal:

I have played guitar for 28 years and have quite a few pedals in my closet. bottom line this pedal has a smooth sounding reverb and I love the way it sounds on both my distortion rhythms and leads as well as my clean channel.

Natural Spring Reverb tone in a small gray box

Comments about Tech 21 RVB-T Boost R.V.B. with Trails Analog Reverb Emulator Guitar Effects Pedal:

Recommend for Spring reverb, slap back, and ambiance. Eh, just decent for Hall / Studio reverb; its more of a Spring thing. OK on distortion, wonderful with overdrive, and freakin awesome on cleans!

For a lil more tweakability, I recommend the Holiest Grail, and for ambiance, I may recommend the Spring Chicken LE simply for the expression pedal feature controlling the oscillation. But IMHO, they aren't as versatile and the Tech21 is great with tweakability and ambiance anyways!

Tonally, Tech21 is my favorite. I've tried some amps with spring tanks (some are better then others; best being Fender), and the pedal does a pretty good job and more. I actually prefer it since its so functional with all its controls. Do not be intimidated by the mass of knobs though (usually, I prefer less-is-more design) because once you dial it in, you are set! And when you want something a little different or a lot different, the tweakability is ready for you! Very expressional pedal with incredible tone! Highly recommend!
6 knobs and 1 switch/button with mono in/out jacks. The controls on the Tech21 is very practical and effective.

MIX knob goes from 100% dry to 100% wet, which is a buying point for me! Very cool feature and with good sweep!

FEEDBACK knob allows for crazy experimental oscillation. Its not quite like the Spring Chicken LE oscillation, which is more pulsating - reminiscent to my delay pedal, (Tech21 oscillation is more like howling and murmuring. I'm very unfamiliar to this type of oscillation but its cool nonetheless!), but they are both responsive to the control, e.g. FEEDBACK knob, in how it intensifies and accelerates. Another buying point for me since I like ambiance.

TONE knob changes the tone of the reverb tails, NOT the guitar signal. This is very useful. This pedal is somewhat of a bright reverb pedal like many spring reverb pedals e.g. Spring Chicken, but the tone knob allows you to roll off some of that high end sizzle. Though very effective, I wish the parameters cut off more so on the lower settings.

TIME knob determines the length of the reverb. Think of it like the length of an echo. It works perfect for slapback on lower settings and goes about 2-3 seconds at maximum settings.

LEVEL knob increases the volume. This is handy because theres an illusional volume drop after 50ish% Wet and using the LEVEL knob will help attenuate to that volume drop. However, unlike all the other knobs, increasing this knob will induce some noise, but its not noticeable until about after 80ish%. The TONE knob affects this noise and having the TONE knob at higher settings will actually make the noise a little more noticeable.

RUMBLE knob may seem gimmicky because of its rather nontechnical name, but its actually very fitting. Higher the settings, more bass is affected by the pedal. When the bass is affected, it actually creates, well, a rumbling noise... hence RUMBLE lol. I would leave it pretty low unless you're doing ambiance noises. Cool feature but perhaps the least necessary.

TRAILS switch/button allows reverb tails to natural decay or stop immediately upon press of the ON/OFF switch.

I give the Tech 21 a 9/10 because I wish it had an Expression Pedal input to control the FEEDBACK, TIME, or MIX knobs. Other then that, this reverb pedal has a lot of features; 2nd only to the Holiest Grail!
The knobs are very sturdy and smooth with good sweep and sensitivity; high quality parts! Knobs equivalent to Maxon or USA-made Proco pedals.

No noise at all (except LEVEL knob - refer to Features)! Very clean sounding pedal! A big plus in my book cos I HATE noise.

ON/OFF switch is very nice - high quality but more graceful to press on then most other pedals which needs more of a unfriendly stomp e.g. Proco, Boss, etc.

However, FYI, Tech21 is NOT true bypass. I however noticed no tone loss using this pedal. I keep my chain short, use high quality Mogami cables at custom short-as-possible lengths, so that may help a lot.

Sturdy metal construction. About the width of a RAT pedal so its bigger then the usual Ibanez/Boss pedals, but shorter then most pedals. Its pretty light too.

Everything about this pedal is high quality. Made in U.S.A.
Its my favorite reverb pedal and I say that sincerely because usually I hate reverb pedals. I prefer using high end Waves reverb VST that emulates Studio and Hall Reverb quite well, but during practice and sometimes when recording, I like to hear the reverb, ya know?

That being said, being my favorite, its worth every penny! However, its definitely no under-priced bargain wonder. A little bit more pricier then the Holy Grail, but I think it sounds a bit better and has WAY more features!
