We needed a light portable Amp that would loud enough to be heard in a Big Band Jazz high school setting. My Son plays through a Guild X-155 hollow body jazz box without feedback issues. Use an amp stand for best volume projection. Easy to dial in clean to dirty tones with DI a great feature when you have pro sound reinforcement. Was getting very tired of lugging the heavy vintage around when less is really more.

At first I liked this unit but, then I became aware of the overall high compression on this thing that makes it sound a bit muddy in both clean and distorted modes - like it's trying to be too warm and makes the bass attack give a little too much. Still, if you crank the treble you can get around it a bit. My unit intermittantly cuts out too - very intermittantly with no rhyme or reason. A bit overpriced for what you get. My advice would be to lower the compression level and it would sound better. Also, this unit needs a 12" speaker - the 10" doesn't cut it for even a small band rehearsal.

Comments about Tech 21 Trademark 30 30W Guitar Combo/DI Amplifer:

Well as I said above I do love the amp. I pretty much covered everything I like about it and I don't need to elaborate any more about it. But if they ever make ( read this tech 21 ppl ) a 50 watt 1x12 model of this amp, I'm gonna grab it! To sum up everything I just don't think you could go wrong buying this amp.
I have wanted one of these for quite a while, so I thought I'd better get one b4 they discontinue them or something.
This amp has a really great tone to it no matter how you configure it. All the different ways you can set it up for different amp sounds are very distinct, not like some other amp brands that claim to be able to do things they can't. This amp really is what it claims to be. For those of you who are wondering if this amp will get mean and dirty, it will! If you want the clean fender sound it can do it. Also if you like classic rock sound and tone it can do that too and last but not least if you want the hi gain Mesa Boogie tone yep you can get it. You can play live with this amp and it will be loud enough. A lot of the younger players that really play loud live won't like it, but if you are an older player like me and play old classic rock and rock hits from the 60's and 70's and are used to playing in a much more quiet setting it will do fine.
Well to me this is the best thing since sliced bread. It is so lite, it's perfect to carry around. I can get the sounds I want from it, oh and it has tons of reverb which suits me fine and that is all that is needed if you are a plug straight in and play fellow like I am. I guess it's easy to tell that I love this amp and I'll never part with it!

Comments about Tech 21 Trademark 30 30W Guitar Combo/DI Amplifer:

I have now spent more time with this amp and ready to give another review. I like it, and I would suggest getting one if versatility is what you need. It duplicates Fender, Marshall, and Mesa with surprising accuracy. It may not be exact, but it's close enough to please. The one and only flaw I can find is that the "Tweed" mode, while on the "clean" setting, lacks volume compared to all the other settings. I find the need to crank it to nearly the max in order to get what I need. All the other settings are PLENTY loud for this size amp. They could have done a little better making the volume on that particular setting more similar to the others, but I have no other complaints at all. I still haven't found any weaknesses in workmanship or quality, still have the impression that it is going to last. If you want a portable amp that is able to produce a wide variety of sounds, get yourself one of these little units. They ain't bad!

Comments about Tech 21 Trademark 30 30W Guitar Combo/DI Amplifer:

The amps in my stable have names like Fender, Marshall, Orange, Genz-Benz and ....Tech 21. Recently at a jam session at my place, one of my friends got brave and decided to take the little Tech 21 for a spin...he was floored by the performance. I've had this little amp for 6 years now and I'm still amazed every time I plug into it. With a flip of the character switches takes you from vintage Fender, to snarling Marshall to a Boogie sound that just sings. The reverb is as good as you will find on any of the heavyweight amps on the market and, the DI makes this little guy a dream in the studio.

Comments about Tech 21 Trademark 30 30W Guitar Combo/DI Amplifer:

I've owned a TM-10 (which is this amp but with an 8" speaker and 10 watts) for over a decade. I really like it and recently replaced the speaker which blew out after many years of service. It's loud for its size. It sounds good. It is sturdily constructed. The controls are very intuitive, once you realize that the EQ is active so you need to be sparing with it. The reverb sounds great. I love how light it is, but the fact that it was built as a studio amp shows some real limitations. Boy I wish there was one with two independent channels, higher watts, had a 12" or 2x10", and had the spring reverb of the TM-10 and -30 in it. The TM-60 is a two-channel amp that would otherwise fit the bill, but the controls differ quite a bit and the channels aren't totally separate.

Comments about Tech 21 Trademark 30 30W Guitar Combo/DI Amplifer:

I use this for practice and performance with any of the guitars I own. It performs equally with acoustic 6 or 12 string as well as with an archtop or solid body. The variety of tones that can be had are phenomenal. At 14 pounds this is a pleasure to tote around to gigs. Guys lugging around those 65 pound Fender Twins are amazed at the performance of this unit.I use this on a tilted stand as my onstage instrument monitor and use the out to go to the board. The absence of chorus modeling is easily made up for with stompboxes.

Good tone, but reverb not working

Comments about Tech 21 Trademark 30 30W Guitar Combo/DI Amplifer:

Great little amp, just disappointing that I had to pull the reverb out and finishe the assembly for Tech 21 and Accutronics. A small thing, true, but it diminished my appreciation of my new amp.
Simple - 30w, 10" speaker, active tone shaping controls.
Overall, the quality is good, but I found my reverb was not working from the start. I pulled out the revel unit to cjheck for a loose wire, and I found none of the wires from the in/out jacks were attached to the springs. They were not even stripped for connection to the spring unit. This amp could not have passed quality control with an unwired reverb unit. This kind of disappoints me...
Great tone, a now working reverb and plenty of volume. Overall, a very good value.

Comments about Tech 21 Trademark 30 30W Guitar Combo/DI Amplifer:

Just got this thing today. This review is based on my initial test which involved about 30 minutes of trying the suggested settings to achieve the desired sounds. First impression: NOT BAD AT ALL. Unit seems well made and sturdy, nothing jumps out at me as being cheap and flimsy. Having owned both Marshall and Fender amps previously, and owning a Marshall now, (big Marshall fan, by the way) I can say that the different amp modes do seem to be pretty accurate. I tried the suggested settings for SRV type sound, AC/DC style, Van Halen, Metallica, and so on. Each one was very much like the sound used by those particular artists/bands. I have not yet spent time dialing in the sounds that suit my preference, but I can see that I will be able to do so given a little time. I bought this amp to serve as an alternate to my Marshall which has fantastic distortion (of course) but isn't all that impressive on the clean stuff. I had a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe which was wonderful, but WAY TOO LOUD for my application. This trademark 30 seems to duplicate the Fender tube sound fairly accurately and can do so at lower volume, which is what I wanted. It's not EXACTLY like the real thing, but you can't expect that. It is close, and plenty good enough for me and my current needs. The fact that it offers some very nice distorted sounds too just makes it an even better buy for me. Unit is the perfect size for home use, portable, easy to carry, and has more than enough volume for my living room and for the small place where I play on weekends. The fact that there is no option for a footswitch is sort of disappointing, but not a huge issue for me. I also bought the matching gig bag, and I'm glad I did. It will be great for when I gig and also for storage to keep the unit clean and safe. I may post another review later after I spend some more time with this thing. Speaking of that, I gotta go now, time to play!

So far this amp is a joy to plug into. I just added delay, chorus and boost pedals and away i go.The sound is kinda dark to my ears which is what i like. Its so simple to use , dont have to break a sweat when logging it around.I still have to plug in a ext. speaker and hear what that sounds like, i'm pretty sure it'll sound killer. Aside from my Boogie Mk3 , this amp is a very welcome addition to my rig.

        Nice !

Comments about Tech 21 Trademark 30 30W Guitar Combo/DI Amplifer:

If you are familiar with the sansamp GT2, then you can easily understand this thing. You could buy a GT2, hardwire a balanced XLR output, a (real)30 watt amp, put it in a box with a 10" speaker, or you could by this thing. It sounds great and it's easy to use. You can get most any classic guitar tone from it and switching between tones is fast, but not instantaneous. It has no provisions for instant channel switching. So if you need to switch sounds instantly on-the-fly for your live gigs, you might want to check out one of the other models. Personally, I find that for most sessions, channel switching is seldom needed, nor is it necessary for live Jazz gigs. Either way, you can solve that problem with an effects pedal or a different amp. I just love this thing. It's light, compact and is plenty loud enough for sessions, Jazz gigs and rehearsals. The price seems very fair, considering that this is American Made. It is assembled in New Jersey, though I think some of the components come from abroad. (Nowadays, what doesn't?) All the sansamp / tech 21 stuff I've used works great, and sounds great. This little beauty is no exception.

Comments about Tech 21 Trademark 30 30W Guitar Combo/DI Amplifer:

A collection of high quality tube amps in a rather diminutive package. Don't let the size fool you because this amplifier is a BEAST! Drawbacks/features:1) May not be loud enough for a full rock band situation, but that is what the outs are for (and they sound amazing).2) No channel switching. For me, this is a feature because I spend more time playing and less time screwing with sounds. 3) Does not sound digital in any way. It sounds like hot glass... flat toneless digital harshness has it's place in the music of today, but for me that place isn't in a general purpose recording amp for me.4) Breakup... wonderful tube breakup.5) Takes pedals very well just like a tube amp. 6) Curb weight... 14 lbs. incredible. If you are just starting out and love classic tube sound or you already own fantastic tube amps but are tired of lugging them around - your search is over. Save yourself the time and disappointment and get this amp. This is quite possibly the most satisfying purchase I have ever made.

If you look below you will see I posted 2 reviews of this amp shortly after I bought it about a year and a half ago, and this is my third. I just wanted to say that after using it for a time, I am still satisfied and I would suggest it without hesitation for anyone who is looking for a compact and versatile amplifier. I can dial up a wide variety of sound at any time, and it has not yet shown any weakness in reliability. If you're on the fence, buy one. I doubt you will be disappointed. I have owned Marshall, Orange, and Fender. This one has been just as much fun as any of them.

I really love this Amp. It is 100% analog and yet it can sound like different amps, different speakers, & different gain levels. It has a 10" speaker that can bow you away with volume.. I was originally worried about not having a 12" speaker: this amp sounds loud & I love the speaker Voicing. The amp is also made in the U.S.A.!

A Real Alternative to Hot Glass

          By Anonymous

          from Undisclosed

Comments about Tech 21 Trademark 30 30W Guitar Combo/DI Amplifer:

A well-designed tube amp has an especially sweet sound that most solid-state amps can't quite duplicate. The bad news is that a tube amp dumps heat into the environment and requires expensive periodic maintenance. The solid state Trademark 30 is power-efficient and reliable. It's sound and dynamic string response comes closer to a good tube amp than any other solid state amp I've yet tried at its price point. The Trademark's analog circuitry, to my ear, produces a slightly more transparent sound than the admittedly-versatile digital modeling amps that I have also played. In a nutshell, the Tech 21 Trademark 30 is a musical and planet-friendly alternative to a vacuum tube amp. In fact, I'm seriously considering making the switch.
