The THD 2-12 Extension Cabinet is the key to the magic between your fingers and your ears. Delivering a sound that is deep, smooth, clear, focused, and sweet, this cabinet truly is a vital element for improving the tone chain.
The Ported Extension Cab is a bass-reflex design cabinet with a slot-port in the rear instead of the more common tube port in the front. Unlike a tube-port, there is no chance of "whistling" through the slot-port in THD's cabinets. The slot-port being shallow, but wide, gives a lot of rear projection and a more open, 3-D sound similar to an open back cab, with a dramatically fuller, tighter bottom end.
THD's cabinets are constructed from 3/4" 9-ply birch with 1/2" birch ply baffle and rear panels. The corners are finger jointed for strength and rigidity and the speaker baffle is dadoed into the sides to make a remarkably strong and durable cabinet. To eliminate noise found in other handles, THD uses steel inset handles that are remarkably strong and do not rattle. Other components of the cabinet such as Switchcraft jacks are utilized because they provide a better connection to your speaker plug and steel jack dishes because they cannot break or push through.
Inside, the speakers are wired with Belden wire, an industry standard that is very high quality, sounds great, and lasts a lifetime. Also featured on the cabinet's exterior are nickel-plated steel corners to deflect blows and large cast rubber feet that serve to reduce vibrations.
THD has designed a full sounding, lightweight 2x12 speaker cabinet that can rival a 4x12 in volume, power, and projection. It has a tight, clean, focused sound that's not the least bit harsh, brash, or tubby.

This is one amazing sounding cabinet with great options as to the backs design with it's ability to open up the top, middle or bottom for 3 different sounds/tones. This is a real high end, studio quality piece of gear that I think every studio should have. THD has got 2 great speakers here as well. They are NOT Celestions or Eminence speakers but a special design by THD, made in the good old USA. They do use a british cone, I imagine Celestion but that is it, the rest is made here, by THD, and they sound incredible. I own lots of different Celstions, T 75's, V 30's Greenbacks etc., Tone Tubby ceramics, JBL E120's, Madison's etc. etc. etc. and these THD's are something else. Together the 2 different voiced speakers (Vintage and Longhorn) give you all the tones you could ever need and with beautiful creamy, singing tones. I'm in love with these cabs/speakers and even though they are very pricey for a 2x12 I will have to get one as soon as they come into stock. I really like the Paisley one, it looks so psychedelic, 60's like.
This is one great cabinet I run my VHT Deliverance 60 watt through it and it sounds great.Easy to move the way the handle is mounted, Say good bye to stacks just stick a mike in front and let it rick!
Excellent clarity and definition throughout the tonal spectrum, with loads of punch. Sturdy construction but not too heavy and the recessed handle makes it easy to move around and sit stuff on top of. This is a closed cab that is rear-ported by means of gap between two rectangular panels that otherwise close off the back. The panels are fastened by screws, and for my applications and taste, I removed the top rear panel, thus partially exposing the rear of the speakers. The effect was dramatic with the output becoming much more full-bodied, resonate, and harmonic w/o any noticeable loss of definition. Strummed lower register cords can be felt in your chest --and that's at relatively low volumes in the basement. This is a high quality cab, albiet a bit pricey.Associated equipment: Am Strat with EMG VG-20 Pro Series pickups/electronics and Genz Benz Diablo 60 head.
i use this stock cabinet with the celestion classic 80's (english not chinese) and thd's longhorn specs. i put a 15 watt blues jr. tube amp through it and it blows the marshall 40 watt combo away as well as any other single 12, or2-12 setup. turn that baby full tilt and hold on!it can't be articulated in words.
The THD 2x12 cab is everything it is billed to be. I use mine with a THD BiValve head and the tones are mind-blowing. The cab comes loaded with 1 Celestion LongHorn and 1 Celestion Vintage speaker, which make a great combination. The low-end this cab will put out will make the walls resonate, but there is no muddiness to the cab whatsoever. I've even tried a Fender Pro Junior through this cab and the cab continued to provide very clear, very clean tones. This cab also just won Guitar Player Magazine's Reader's Choice award for the best cab. Trust me, it is more than deserving.
