This thing is nice if you want to have more than one sound and some nice effects and such. The amp models are nice, so are the effects and echos. Over all its a great thing to have. The only thing I don't like about it is the pause between switching but thats easy to work around. What I also find nice is that you can turn down the volume of the overall processor, so you can leave your amps controlls at the same as a gig, and just turn down your processor when you get home. It does well through already overdriven tubes, it doesn't get all sludgy and nasty like other pedals do sometimes. It even sounds really good on solid state, I actually like it better through a solid state preamp. Overall its a great buy if you don't want somethign really complex or if you don't have the money to get anything better. anything better would cost double, at least. UNLESS you get another processor by toneworks. I've tried all of them, and they are all wonderful.

I have been practicing with the AX10 for about 6 months now. It has served me pretty well. I live in an apartment and use it with headphones. I have tried to use the AX10 for live practice with my band. This is what I found. (A) It is hard to "surf" the menu and find the correct sound in a hurry; even after programming the unit to be sequantial. (b) It can't take the rigor's of live performance. The right foot pedal on my unit became very stiff and made it very very hard to make selections. (c) When used at "volume" there are feedback issues and uncontrollable high-end (treble). Is this a good unit for practice in my apartment? Very much so. Would I buy this unit to jam with the band? No way, not a chance.

It really did look to good to be true

By Marble

from Netherlands

I had some troubles with this little sucker. I bought at a local store and after one practice with he band it got this terrible feedback, the same as some of you describe. Now it only seems to work on batteries anymore. The guy at the store told me to buy a descend adapter for $25 and I was like, why wouldn't it work on normal power with the some voltage. Does anyone have an idea what may be the cause? Anyway, as said before, nice to practice with, but for the stage it's crap.

This Tone Works

This product is really special. I bought it and compared it to a Line 6 POD. As far as amp sound emulation and quality effects, it's just as good. As far as versatility, it's better. The ability to adjust the effects on the fly and real-time control with the footpedal is just incredible. It allows you to discover and develop by accident/experimentation, then save your new creation. This is the real bang for the buck. No wonder Vai, Satriani, and Petrucci use its hand-held model. It's that good.

tone works is nice

I have it, yes its plastic... which I feel is its ONLY downfall. It works like a beats!(really great) I do get a tad bit more feedback than before when its hooked in, but nothing major at all. Great choices in a smaller device. the presets are good, but creating your own sounds is REALLY fun. Worth the money cause it's cheap and great!

What was i thinking

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

Picked it up for 180 plus tax tried it out and returned it 2 hours later, full refund thank God? What was I thinking there?s simply no replacement for tube amps classic guitars and analog effects? First thing it?s very trebly, second thing it takes away the nuances of pickup selection and your tone control( well on my Strat anyway) If you are looking for a gadget to use as a practice amp then maybe as a performance piece of equipment no)? It took away the awesome tone my tube amp has?The demo on their web site certainly sounded good, wonder how they did that?.

Reasonable starter distortion

By Papa Georgio

I bought this pedal board about 8 months ago. It is a reasonable pedal for playing soft by yourself but there are couple of serious problems. First of all, when playing loud, there is unbelievably bad trebly feedback. Also, it is hard to cycle through your settings. Finally, the tone is reasonable. A little trebly for my taste. This is great for the starting musician but if you are any bit experienced just get a head. Something like a line 6 hd is a much better bet.
