Since this is my first guitar effect processor I can`t compare it with anything else I`ve used,BUT,if you compare the "tube OD" effect(I think it`s a tube drive/amp)with the one that you hear for ex. on Neil Youngs "Cortez the killer" song, the similarities are incredible!!!!I couldn`t believe my ears(just make sure you use enough "GAIN",and mess around a bit with the "TONE" parameter and your guitars volume knob). Another thing worth mentioning are the great ECHO effects!!Don`t know how and why,but I tryed a clean effect with a little "Chorus","Reverb",and a lot of "Delay" and presto..incredible progressive sound(!!!) which can only be made better by using several other distortion and other effects. I also recomend this "low budget" equipment for those into heavy metal, since it has a few factory presets which they would find nice, especially with a nice amplifier/combo(when I purchased it I tried it on a 100 W "Marshall" combo and it was incredible(although I`m not a heavy metal fan)).You nead a little exercise untill you get used to it,but it`s definitely worth its price, and congrats to KORG,for creating something as affordable and great sounding.

I'm not really into effects, so it's not an important device to me. It does produce some interesting sounds, not high quality sounds though. Many are somewhat noisy, and most are repeated by selecting a different number: #4 sounds the same as #44, etc. The volume/gain levels vary greatly from selection to selection, which is inconvenient. I'm glad I didn't spend much for it. You get what you pay for.

very nice compact effects processor

I own the toneworks AX3G and I am very pleased with it. for the price, it is a life saver. I bought this processor about a year or two ago, and it is still in great condition after being used at shows, in my studio/room at least 5 days a week if not all week. Not a single scratch, ding, dent, crack, nothing. And yes, it is made of plastic, which seems to be everyones nightmare (just stop stompin around like you know what you're doing, mr. guitar hero) The distortion channels all sound good, you just have to figure out a style to go with it. The pre FX do what they say they do, and thankfully they all have parameters if you have a problem with the sound. The modulating effects also have an array of sounds with anywhere from 3 to 7 parameters each. The reverbs and delays also sound good. You can't get a horribly long delay out of it, but its not a dedicated box for that so you shouldn't expect that much.Overall, just buy it if you don't have much money. I have learned that cheap stuff is just as good if not better if you know how to use it.

Good to go

My buddy (Bass Player) bought it for a gig for me to borrow. Needless to say, I bought it off of him (I think I was set up). It can make the worst of us sound good. Definately a "Keeper".

Good Value, Very tweakable

By Scott-FF8M4

the built in tuner works great, most all of the effects sound good and usable, except a couple of the high gain amp models. The acoustic simulation is not the best, but so what. Learn the controls and it becomes quite tweakable.

A bargain in a small box

By MBBumbach

I got the AX3G and pulled it out of the box. I didnt immediatley know what to do when I pulled it out, but after a few minutes with the manual and a few hours messing with the settings I found some killer sounds that complimented my setup very nicely. I am especialy impressed with the compression and how much sustain it adds to my sounds. You'll love the tons of combinations that you can create, but unless you're a metal-head you'll have to spend a lot of time tweaking this little box to get the sounds you like.

Nice sounds at a low price!

By JBViper4

from Bel Air MD

I use this to practice at home and experiment with sounds. I am a novice when it comes to effects and I figured why not try out a bunch of them via a processor so I could figure out what I really wanted. I run it in conjunction with a wah and a volume pedal, and it works fine. Plastic case is a bummer - but I don't beat on my equipment, and its been fine through 3 months of practicing on it. I recommend it but would probably buy something more durable if it broke.

Us and Them

Great value in a sound box. Lots of fun and inexpensive for all you get. If you can't find a sound/sounds that you like I don't know. Easy to use straight out of the box but more difficult setting values and parameters. Read the manual and experiment and soon you will get it. The only drawback is that it's light plastic but for the money you can't beat it. Noise reduction and tuner, silent if you like, makes this a great deal!!!

Solid budget equipment

By JM-2TG54

from Atlanta, GA

This little unit is actually pretty effective. You can run a series of effects simultaneously, most of which can actually be quite useful. The unit contains several effects that can get expensive to buy on their own: a basic Ring Mod, a nice sounding Tremolo, a fun sounding Envelope Filter. The entire echo/delay/reverb section makes this unit a very affordable way to explore those effects (most reverb units hover around 100, many echo/delay go much higher than that). The drawbacks? There aren't really too many, although I would say definitely the plastic casing around the unit itself isn't too great. A few drops on the ground or something could break this unit.I wouldn't suggest this is someone's only effect unit because there are obviously things you cannot do with it. But to add variety and highly layer your sounds, this unit is worth the extremely low price.

you shold definitaly buy this product

By fish boy

As a song writer, I think it is great! It is very easy to find the perefect tone. However, I think it is better for song writing rather than finding a similar tone for an already written song. It may look complicated, but is fairly simple after a while. Yes, it is plastic instead of metal. but as long as you don't jump around on stage anywhere near it, or push the pedals too hard,it is very sturdy. don't think that the low price means it's crummy, cause you can't beat this price or quality!

Handy

It took a little time to figure out how to use it, and what all the paramiters for each effect does. The effect quality is good, I just wish I could say the same about the quality of the perdal itself. I have had it for a while now and the footpedals are getting a little hard to use. One of them quit working for a while, but I opened it up and fixed it. So yeah, only buy it if you take good care of your equipment.

a good investment

By RAGman-HW7LF

from Brooklyn, NY

When i first bought this pedal, i was skeptical in terms of how good and how far would i go on with this bad boy...and it's been a year already and i love it.It's got all the usual effects you'll need for rockin whether it be dist., delay, reverb, flange, chorus, phaser, echo even down to just simple eq'ing ur sound. It may be made of some cheap hard plastic but this kid has what u need to just get the job done. It doesn't beat it AX3000G which contains more options and more vast specifications but if you're in a bind n u need to ease on ur pocket, this lil dynamo will do it.

Good & Cheap

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

I've been looking for an extremely cheap (on a high school budget), but still functional effects processor...this is it. It's a little confusing to figure out how to make the effects go in the order you want them, the book doesnt help too much. When I played it in the store I liked what I heard so I bought it. Sure enough....it's held through.. The casing IS PLASTIC! that is a downer. As far as I'm concerned, it is a great pedal for the money, but if you have more....GO WITH SOMETHING MUCH BETTER!

It Is Pretty Damn Good

By Blue Punk

from Lynn,MA

It is easy to use and easy to get a hang of. It only took me about 5 min. to understand how to use everything. The sounds are good and you can mix and match to how you like. The tuner in it is not the best but it gets you close. The only problem is how light it is and how it is a hard plastic so you have to be gentle when you use it.

This tiny plastic box contains some pretty big sounds that I did not expect! I have used many Korg synth products before and I should have known that this would be good as well. It's easy to use, almost pocket sized and has great solid sounding effects. I have been using it for recording and it gets the tones and grind that I want. I doub't I will ever use it live because of it being plastic, but I definitely recommend it for home and studio use! Can't beat the price either!

AX3G Review

Ask me a question

bought this little unit awhile back. it's simple, very easy to use although you have to consult the manual a lot to know what parameters to edit. however, through repetition you it becomes fairly simple. the effects one this until are pretty decent, if you're on a budget (which you probably would be to buy it) then this is what you'll get for about $70. the plastic construction is durable, but a metal housing would be more dependable. although you can plug this until into an amp, with cabinet simulation, this unit excels at plugging straight into the board (unless you like to use it as a stand-alone effects unit). the only downside would be that it doesn't come with the 9v ac adapter and the AA batteries don't last as long as your conventional 9v stomp box. one of the highlights I've found is the output is in stereo, which sounds great if you're running this into the board left and right (especially with the spring reverb). overall, the amp modeling is decent, although I play a lot of rock so the "metal" preset blows the others away. check it out if you're curious, for the buck, it's definitely a bang!

Best Pedal I Have Ever Owned!

By Hollow Ground

from ohio

I am an experienced active guitarist and have been playing for about 8 years. I have owned most pedals in the industry from boss to roland digitech and everything between. Single dedicated effects and multiple alike. But this korg ax3g is wicked. This things is a powerhouse full of tone and great effects. I play an ibanez 7 string, a gibson les paul, and an esp kh and this thing adds to the sound for sure and makes my 7 string sing! I recomend this pedal for new comers and seasoned pros alike! A+ effects. The only downfall to it is the plastic construction. Just be careful not to throw it around too much!

Pure garbage

By Harry-b1jvu

from Aliquippa, PA

It has no features a strange echo on all effects and it?s extremely difficult to operate. AC adapter not included; must use AA batteries. It has crappy distortion channels odd waving clean channels. I suggest instead of ordering this, you simply light you money on fire and save yourself the headache of dealing with such an inferior product. Absolutely terrible.
