I use the AH-500 for R&B, Funk, and Blues. The tone is superb and the headroom, volume, and presence make it easy to carry this "massive" 30-lb. rig to gigs. In fact...it's a pleasure. Trace-Elliot is back, and as good as ever. Don't overlook this brand!
This is without a doubt the nicest bass amp I've ever owned. The graphic EQ & compressor are just wonderful, even with this 7-band EQ model, you have plenty of flexibility to dial in your sound. It has plenty of bandwidth to play in a club setting. I just wished it were slightly less expensive.
Yes If not the Best ! Maybe second ! This Trace Elliot sounds great ! Have used it on a gig ! Head has punch and Big fat mids. And tons of lows. Its a Straight up Bass Head ! does"t have a lot of toys built in.
I own the AH500-7 and I can say with great certainty it's an awesome rig! Its all about the TONE and Trace Elliot has a one-of-a-kind tone. This bass head is in a class of its own. Whether you are running through a PA or just solo this is a hard-hitting bass head and I highly recommend it to anyone. Kudos to Trace Elliot for making excellent products.
The trace elliot ah500-7 is one of my favorite bass heads. I use it with my fender japanese 62 reissue jazz and an ibanez ergodyne 405, and they both sound amazing. With the jazz, I keep the settings as stock, with the pre-shape on, and the graphic and the comp off, and it sounds just great. I have great tonal variety just from my bass, cuz it has two tone and two volume pots to it. With my ergodyne, I turn on the graphic to add some high end and mids, and to take some of the lows out, and I get a great funk-rock tone. Keeping as is like the jazz, I get a fantastic low end metal tone. And, when I plug my gibson les paul into it, I turn the comp, and my roaring gibson turns into a nice strat on the neck pup. Overall, its an amazingly versatile amp, both for bass and guitar.
A 21st century technological "Masterpiece". Tone to the bone and a compressor to die for. Trace Elliott put it together! I play a Modulus 5 string through the AH500-7 and the psycho acoustic phenomena is stupendous. Get one now.
Today I went to Guitar Center to look for a new bass rig. I was looking around and this caught my eye, only because I had never heard of Trace Elliot before. There were no price tags, nothing. The head was set up with a 2x10 cab and a 1x15 cab, both also Trace Elliot. I picked up a Fender Jazz bass (mexcian), plugged it, turned it on, and I was stunned. This has to be the most amazing sound I've ever heard come out of a bass amp. Right now I use an Ampeg SVT 350 head, and this Trace Elliot blows it away. The tone is amazing, and with the EQ you can get about any sound you want. Great features, great sound, amazing craftsmanship and quality, and very easy to use. It is also an amazing looking set up with the lime green and gray and black. As soon as I get the money I plan on buying that exact setup. Worth every penny it's priced for. If you can afford it, get it.
I use this for my churches worship team, not this exact model, mine is a 300 watt that powers my dual 15 cabinet. I had a hard time decding between Ampeg, SWR, and Trace Elliot. This is my choice, period. I'm close to having the $$ for this more powerful one, and then down the road, a 4 by 10 cab to go along with my 2/15 cab.
