An all-tube head with spring reverb and a pickup loading feature to reduce harshness.

The Two-Rock TRSP22HD Studio Pro 22W Tube Guitar Amp Head offers ample clean headroom, dynamics, and a variety of tone shaping options. Two-Rock added a pickup loading feature, which optimizes pickup balance between single coil and humbuckers. The stellar reverb circuit with send and return controls, contour control, and full buffered effects loop are standard on this amp.

The new Pickup Loading feature control has 5 settings. In the first position (fully counterclockwise), there is no additional pickup loading, with 4 additional settings available. Fully clockwise (last position) is full loading. Loading the guitar pickup(s) to varying degrees changes the impedance relationship between the pickup and the amplifier's first gain stage. Loading reduces inductive "ringing" in the pickup coils. The effect is a more controlled high frequency response and a reduction in high frequency artifacts produced when a pickup's magnets and coils feed back with each other, usually at or near the pickup's saturation point. The damping effect will also reduce the gain, which is normal. Tonally speaking, reducing these artifacts results in a cleaner waveform and an apparent lack of harshness in the upper frequencies.

Comments about Two Rock TRSP22HD Studio Pro 22W Tube Guitar Amp Head:

I waited two months before submitting a review to make sure. You know how you fall in love at first and then start picking things apart. This is the best amp I've ever played.

I own a 71 Deluxe Reverb that I had Blackfaced. I always got compliments on my sound. And whenever I'd plug in with others, even metal guys who thought they had a huge sound, my Fender was always wider and fuller than anything they had. Even 4X12's, that Fender would cut through the mix somehow and they would leave shaking their heads.

This Two Rock wee-wees all over my Fender. I saw You Tube videos of shoot-outs between the Deluxe Reverb Reissue and the Two Rock. The two tones seemed pretty much the same. So quite Frankly, I was prepared to be disappointed by the Two Rock. But there is no way an internet video can capture how this thing fills up the room. The sound is 3-D. It's beyond 3-D. It surrounds you.

I'm not gonna say what everyone says, "It's like a Fender, but bigger," even though it is. It's also fuller, wider, richer and more beautiful. The notes sound like a mixed CD coming out. I set all the levels to 12 o'clock and was just mesmerized.

I've played and owned a ton of amps. Have you ever heard anyone who said, "I bought a Two Rock and I didn't like it"? No. The only doubters are from people who don't own one or have never played one. OR...OR...OR... and this is key... Those who have bought a Two Rock head and then plugged it into whatever speaker cabinet they had lying around. I bought the 12" speaker cab that goes with it and I can't be happier. I have a compact head and speaker that sounds so much better than all of the 4X12's I've ever owned. And so much easier to carry.

The construction is supreme. The clean sound is heavenly. And when I say clean I mean clean. You can strum like an acoustic and really smack your guitar and it doesn't break up. You ever notice how many demos on the internet say, "Clean sound" and you can tell the player is just strumming very lightly? That if he slapped it at all it would break up badly almost like early AC/DC? This amp is clean, clean, clean. It doesn't really have gain. But it loves pedals. WARNING: It doesn't hide your playing. You'll need to correct your flaws. But you will, because you won't be able to stop playing it. I've played more guitar in the two months I've owned it than the previous year.

I know, I know. You're thinking, "Cork Sniffer." Whatever. If you're like me, look around your room... You have spent upwards of $5000 on stuff and still aren't satisfied. How many amps have you bought and sold? Spend the coin on this head and buy the speaker. Upgrade your pedals with some Keeley, Suhr, Xotic, Emma... or other brands... quality pedals... (Sorry, but if you buy this thing and put a Boss Tonesucker pedal in front of it you should be forced by the Government to give it back) and your search and spending will be over. And you'll become a much better guitarist. You'll walk into any room and plug in with others and leave everyone... especially macho metal guys with their toolbox sized amps... all scratching their heads. And you won't have to turn up to hear yourself.

    Best Amp I've Ever Owned

Comments about Two Rock TRSP22HD Studio Pro 22W Tube Guitar Amp Head:

Granted, I am a huge John Mayer fan, so my introduction to Two Rock dates back many years ago. It was always the "unattainable" boutique brand that I would and could never own. When Two Rock released the Studio Pro series, I realized I could finally afford to own one. Overall, this amp has the best combination of tone, features, and build quality that anyone could ever ask for. The contour knob and pickup loading features are very nifty and subtle ways to take your tone over the top, and the addition of a second master volume on the back of the amp was the icing on the cake. And the tone...oh the tone!!!
I'm going to keep this short because I could seriously talk about this all day:

    1. The Tone: Best clean I've ever heard. Imagine a Fender clean with a little more oomph and body. Very pristine, yet woody at the same time. The controls all do something (imagine that concept) and even the slightest turn of a knob can give the amp a new character. Very easy to dial in John Mayer like tones, but also easy to create a tone all your own. For the record, there is a chime to this amp that sounds absolutely heavenly at gig volumes. Don't judge this amp based on bedroom levels, you HAVE to open it up and play it at a decent volume to appreciate it. IMO, the "gain" knob should be called saturation...there is not a lot of gain in this amp, but it has more clean headroom than I'll ever need!

    2. The quality: Really short here, THE BEST

    3. The Features: Everything does something and you can actually hear the difference when you turn the knobs. Contour is genius and such a lifesaver depending on your surroundings, and pickup loading basically takes the unwanted icepicky edge off your single coils at loud volumes.

TAKES PEDALS better than any amp I've played. It just soaks them up.
Everything seems incredibly sturdy on this amp. Not too heavy, not too light. Seems to be everything you would expect out of a boutique amp.
Ok, so my only low mark comes on the value. Right now I am at 8 because while it is expensive, you get a heckuva lot of amp here. But, the price is still steep considering what you get with other big name/boutique brands. Expensive and worth it, but I wouldn't consider this a "value."
