Features: 9120 Watts of Monster Tone "Very Loud". 6550 tubes. Very good effects loop. Very versitile. EQ option. I am giving a 9 here only because of no reverb. I assume judging by most high end amps that reverb is left off because of the cost of a top quality reverb. Why mess up a fantastic amp with crappy low end reverb.Sound Quality: 10Using with a Gibson Les Paul Standard Plus & a Fender deluxe Fat Strat. Play mostly Hard Rock or Metal Shred. This amp has a very low noise clean channel and considering it is a high gain amp a relitivly quite distortion Channel. The EQ options allows you to pretty much dial in any sound you are looking for! The clean channel is in my opinion the very best you will find in a high gain amp period - end of story! As far as distortion I luv this thing it is really a punch you in the face amp. It's distortion is very different from the generic Mesa saturated sound you hear all the time. It's hard to put into words how really good the distortion is from this amp. It's so tight and focused really a wonderfull departure from the flabby Mesa sound which I do not care much for. I just did some recording with this amp into pro tools with a Beta 58 and both the clean & distortion were absolutly amazing!! even before any EQ/pro tool editing. I can not say enough about how good this amp really is. I know it's cost is a problem for most but worth it in my opinion!Reliability: N/ADon't know yet. Had it a week with no problems so far. The tubes are kept in place very securly! Looks to be built like a tank!Overall Rating: 10Playing 7 years. Stuff I own Marshall JCM2000 TSL100, Mesa Rect. Cab, Marshall 1960A Cab. If it were stolen I would cry and start saving for another. I luv evrything about this amp. Would have liked a great reverb. I have owned all kinds of amps Mesa dual & Single rec/2:50, Fender Twin, Paranha preamp. Let me just say this "You can buy a cheaper amp head i.e. Mesa & Marshall but they are just not in the same league PERIOD".

I decided to buy this amp because I heard it was one of the best distortion sounds ever...wrong. It's way too dry and I have a hard time getting it to cut through the mix. Theres not much gain to be found either. Clean channel is ok. If you play metal (and I'm talkin real metal, not this crap kids are listening to now days) check out engl or better yet mesa, a double rectifier is 100x more brutal and versatile. Not to mention this amp is much more expensive for only two mediocre channels. Give me a break.

Own UL and Sig:X

Staff Reviewer

This amp is less creamy than the SIG:X, it's a bit more exact and precise. Both amps are amazing and both get perfect 5 scores, but this amp is a bit more RAZOR sharp, if that conveys anything to anyone interested. Where the SIG:X has a bit of Spunge and Warmth, the UL Pittbull is more clear and shimmering, and thunderous in the low end, it almost has no spunge at all if you can imagine that. VERY modern sounding amp. It doesn't sound like 5150's, Rectofiers, Marshall 800's, Bogners, Diezels, or any of them. It doesn't sound like anything you've ever tried, you must listen to it for a long period of time before knowing it's voicing and signature tone. If you like Marshall but want something edgier, than I'd say go for the SIG:X, but if you want something completely opposite from Marshall, and completely opposite from Mesa, than get the UL-100.

Best Amp in the Market today?

By Mark ArsoN

from Los Angeles

You probably won't like this amp if you're a crappy guitar player who likes to hide behind a sloppy amp and reverb. I've owned a Marshall JCM 2000 for a few years now, and did not notice how sloppy my technique was. I decided to buy this amp because a couple of my friends own it, and when I tried them out, I thought they were awesome!! They have a razor sharp attack and release, and the tone is ungodly! Yeah, I know it's expensive, but I honestly think that this amp can make you a better guitar player (cause it doesn't have that "mushy" Marshall sound) and should definitely be in every rock/metal guitar player's arsenal. But like I said, if your technique is crap, and you want your amp to lie to you, then this is not the amp for you.

VHT G-100-UL review

By Josh_Paul

from Indianapolis, IN

This amp can go from Willie Nelson to Slayer with the twist of a knob. The only head I've ever played that covers the entire sonic catalog. I play lead in a hardcore band using a PRS custom 22 and use a plethora of effects. My only gripe is VHT's customer support. I lost my owners manual and have been trying to get a new on for the last 2 months with no avail. This head is built like a tank so don't expect it to go down but if it does, good luck dealing with VHT directly. I've owned 13 heads, all makes and models. I'll never own another head. My search for phenomenal tone has ended with the VHT G-100-UL.

This amp will rip your face off

This is by far the most amazing amp I have ever played. It may take a little while of playing around with the equalizers to find a tone you like, but when you get it there, nothing else even comes close to this thing. The only possible complaint I can give about it is it has no reverb. But with an amp like this, you would want a higher quality reverb than what is usually built into amplifiers. It's definitely a bank buster, but it's worth every penny. So take my advice and check this thing out before you go for that marshall or mesa.

Brilliant!!

By *A* from Sons of 21

This head is positively the best I have ever owned as well as played on. I did have a few issues at first until I leaned how to use it. I am used to very basic equiptment, but bought this because of the sound it had when I pluged a tele into it. i play a 7 string dropped to low A and this thing carries it with no problem! It stays clean even when you ramp up the volume. The distortion is one of the best I have heard, it doesn't get "muddy" when it is turned up like so many do. Offers endless capeabilities for all styles of players. It is a bit pricey, but you get what you pay for and it is worth the money!

Talk about an amp

By Anonymous

This is amazing. The graphic equalizer is a great way to get your tone and really helps with your options, the gain here is really great, and the tone just cuts. Everything about this amp is just great. Good for whatever you wish to play, from clean stuff to the heaviest of metals.

AWESOME BEST EVER!!!

By Mihos

from Boston, MA

I just got it . It is extremely well made and delivers warm fat metal tone. I also tried the Diezel before this one but I chose this one. It is also easier to get a good sound in low volume. I also got the VHT cabinet that goes with it.

Game over

By Blackacid

from Indianapolis, IN

I've owned my UL for about 4 years now. It's an amazing amp and I still haven't heard anything that makes me want something different. I play in a thrash metal band but enjoy a variety of styles. This amp can handle most all of them without any problems. It's one of the most versatile tube amps I've ever owned.Like stated in other reviews.... Customer service is fairly non-existent. There is a growing user community however and most of your answers can be had online.

Great amp

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

For me, this is an amp you'll want to play. Yeah, it's expensive, but thats because this is one of those "work and earn" amps. Tried this out with my Schecter C-1, and I haven't put it down. Never the less, this beats Marshall and Mesa by miles.
