Comments about VHT The Standard 36 36W Hand-Wired Tube Guitar Amp Head:

I was very much looking forward to using this head. I have and old VHT Pittbull and was looking for something with a more vintage sound. I figured I'd give the "new" VHT a try. This was my second attempt at the Standard 36W head. The first one failed with no output after only a couple days with the second one having some weird microphonics (possibly a bad tube). Good thing Musicians Friend has a nice return policy so nothing lost but my time. They must have quality control issues or possibly using cheap/bad components. Too bad since the first head sounded great when it worked and could tell the second one would have if all was well with it. Great tone and touch dynamics in both channels. Very powerful, possibly too much power for small clubs. I did not try the 18W version but maybe this would be more appropriate for small venues.
