Personalize your sound with slow-mo, swampy, tweed tremolo, stutter, and a range of other pulsing sound settings in this unique analog pedal, offered at a killer price.

The Visual Sound GarageTone Chopper Tremolo pedal nails the trem effect with near perfection at an incredibly low price. The Chopper Tremolo pedal uses an expensive opto-isolator and carefully designed analog circuitry to work its sonic magic.

In addition to the usual Speed and Depth controls, the Chopper Tremolo also has a unique Wave control that alters the overall feel of the effect. Last but not least, there's even an LED that blinks in time to the tremolo stompbox's speed.

Comments about Visual Sound GarageTone Series Tremolo Guitar Effects Pedal:

This pedal was recommended to me by a Musician's Friend Service Representative after I had experienced some bad luck with another low-cost brand. So for only a little bit more, I now have a cream puff in the "garage"! Will a more expensive tremolo offer a wider range of pulses? Probably so, but for my tastes, the Garage Tone is a beauty. Rather than bending a note in the style of a whammy-bar tremolo, which of course can be done simply by bending the guitar string manually, this pedal does a fine job of adding a pleasant, subtle vibrato to the total sound (particularly to extended notes or chords), without reducing any tone. The depth of the Garage Tone's vibrato can be adjusted only as deeply as a relatively mild "stutter," leaning toward the sound of "Crimson and Clover," though not quite as extreme. In my opinion, for one whose guitar emits a nice, rich tone, yet somehow is lacking in listening "excitement," the Garage Tone Tremolo may be the answer. (P.S. This tremolo pairs well with the Garage Tone "Chainsaw Distortion" Pedal, which also is fairly subtle in its nature and far more musical than its name suggests.)

Comments about Visual Sound GarageTone Series Tremolo Guitar Effects Pedal:

This was an effect that I liked the sound of but had to return. The effect could not be made strong enough for my liking. You could only really hear it when it was on full depth, and it never really got choppy. The wave knob did not have the effect it was supposed to have ie. go from choppy to smooth.

It was also completely useless in front of amp distortion, so no R.E.M. Monster tones could be achieved.

Comments about Visual Sound GarageTone Series Tremolo Guitar Effects Pedal:

I am overall pleased with this pedal. Get a nice tremolo sound through my Marshall for older rock songs that use the effect. Seems to be very sturdily built and should last.

Comments about Visual Sound GarageTone Series Tremolo Guitar Effects Pedal:

Overall, I'm pretty happy with this pedal. I like the settings available, and since I won't use it on more than 10 percent of my band's songs, I'm sure it will last a while. The only other complaint I have is that it's friggin' PINK! Come on, VS! I play rock and roll in dive bars! Time to buy some flat black spray paint!

Seriously though, you could probably get a better Trem, but for the money and for the occasional user like me, I think it's a great buy.
I got the old "Chopper" version somehow, and mostly I give it only 8 out of 10 stars because it doesn't really chop your tone very well, as was mentioned in other reviews as well. If you want a chopped or stutter tone, buy the Mad Doctor, I hear it's rad. BUT, this is a nice tremolo pedal if you're into more toneful modulation, which it does well. I don't have a bunch of experience with tremolos, but I do care an aweful lot about my tone and the sum total of how my effects work together, and I have no complaints with this pedal. No tone suck, easy adjustments to dial in a wide range of trem.

The wave knob is sort of wierd- it doesn't really shape the wave... rather it sort of thickens the tone, making a warmer or thinner wave... sort of hard to describe, but useful I guess- basically turned all the way down it preserves the tone of your guitar well, and cranked up it thins things out, sort of like a presence control.
Solid metal box, snug 1/4" jacks. The 9v jack is a touch loose, but nothing to really worry about. Overall I wouldn't worry about it's durability. Knobs are a the only thing that seems a sort of cheap (I'm changing them to something a bit sturdier and more stylish)- the pots are pretty easy to turn, so watch out for your toes if you don't want to accidentally nudge your settings out of adjustment.
I got mine for around 56 bucks, and that seems pretty affordable to me.

Love this pedal and love the visual light for the tremelo. It could be where I have it placed but I get a whirring when the tremelo but I have stopped playing. I dont notice it during a song though. Would buy another if I had to. Overall great pedal!

Comments about Visual Sound GarageTone Series Tremolo Guitar Effects Pedal:

That's my review below. On second thought, I'm sending it back. It's just not versatile at all. No wonder this pedal is (sometimes?) called the Chopper. It is very choppy. It's not a smooth trem. No matter which wave setting you're on. Might be fine if that's what you want, but I want something smooth. So... I'm moving on.

Comments about Visual Sound GarageTone Series Tremolo Guitar Effects Pedal:

This is the one that used to be called the "chopper".It has a real good sound that is great for rockabilly and also classic rock;run through the jungle, suzy q,crimson&clover etc.Maybe they don't call it chopper anymore because it really doesn't "chop" your signal. It is a more subtle tremolo, one that is definitely more versatile and useful on your pedal board. The only "problem" that I had was the AC input in the back was a little loose so I slid it off,put some masking tape on the box and slid it back on-problem solved. The price is right also. This is a keeper.
