OVERVIEW

A killer distortion and overdrive in one box.

The Visual Sound V2JH is two separate overdrive effects in one pedal, each with separate controls, and each with its own personality. They can be used separately or blended together. Jekyll accurately reproduces the sound of the original TS808 Tube Screamer, providing depth and smooth sustain. The Hyde part is a heavier extremely versatile overdrive with more bottom. Use the Jekyll & Hyde pedal's EQ to scoop out the midrange for a wide range of tones and a Sharp/Blunt switch to go from compressed to very bright. The sonic possibilities are endless.

The V2 Jekyll & Hyde pedal features redesigned noise reduction and improved mid control on the Hyde channel, plus additional low-drive range on the Jekyll channel. Besides that and the sweet new V2 housing, the V2JH stompbox delivers the same great overdrive and distortion tones that the Jekyll & Hyde pedal is famous for.I

From its first appearance in 1997, the Jekyll & Hyde was the first stompbox to combine two separate effects in one pedal. Now ten years later the V2 Series gives you the same great tone guitarists have come to love, plus an added noise reduction system, creating the ultimate guitar dream!

Each channel of the newly designed Jekyll & Hyde has separate controls, giving you the ability to use them singly, or together. The Jekyll Overdrive channel delivers more output volume than the original TS-808--far surpassing its predecessor. The Hyde side is more than just a turbo version of Jekyll. With heavier distortion and more bottom end, this crazy distortion pedal is extremely versatile!

From Visual Sounds V2 Series, the V2JH Jekyll & Hyde Overdrive and Distortion Multi Effects Pedal features a diecast aluminum housing, ultra-reliable 10 million cycle switching, easy battery access and circuit protection from AC adapters.

Wow, this thing is unbelievable! I had my mind set on a Fulltone GT500 until I was introduced to the Jekyll & Hyde. This pedal does it all with consistency and amazing sound quality. I'm playing through a modded AC15 and a PRS McCarty and it makes it all sing beautifully. Whats so awesome about this is that it's set at a working man's price range. I'm all about my boutique pedals and this thing screams quality. Get it, you won't be disappointed!

When it was new it was my favorite dirt pedal. I could get great warmth out of it. Never got the OD channel to work as a boost but had a great sound with both channels. Roughly a year later it makes a lot of noise when not in use, kick on either channel and it gets louder. Bummer, I loved this pedal.
Features "where" great two pedals in one and both where buttery smooth.
Unless I got a lemon, mine lasted a year. I've already made a review on it when it was new and loved it.
For the price I thought it should last a lifetime.

Comments about Visual Sound V2 Series V2JH Jekyll and Hyde Overdrive and Distortion Guitar Multi Effects Pedal:

Hands down the most important thing about any guitar, amp, or pedal is how it sounds. Overall I would rate the sound of this pedal very high. The way I personally use this pedal is for a modern overdrive and a "Satch" like distortion. I have a fulltone fuldrive 2 for my more vintage sounding overdrive. The J & H acts as my second level of overdrive. The overdrive sound is very versatile and is capable of hitting every style of overdrive you would like. I would not recommend using this pedal as a clean boost though. The bass boost option on the overdrive side is fairly noticeable when turned on. It's by no means a gimmick. The distortion side of things is interesting. For what I do distortion wise (which is not much) it works. But if you're looking for a full on metal/hardcore distortion, I don't know if this will do it for you. The tone can get kinda muddy on the distortion side if you don't have it tweaked right. I typically leave the sharp switch on all the time to give me more attack on the front end. The only true complaint I have about this pedal is the design. Keep in mind I have the old version with the old school push button switches on it so the new design may be better. I sometimes have trouble just hitting one switch at one time because they're so close together on the casing. On a final note, although this pedal does allow you to run both channels at once, I wouldn't recommend it. The feedback and noise is just way too much. If you can tweak it to wear you can use both at the same time, good on ya mate.

Comments about Visual Sound V2 Series V2JH Jekyll and Hyde Overdrive and Distortion Guitar Multi Effects Pedal:

I own the first original Hyde and I can tell you if you're looking to buy only 1 overdrive pedal this is it! A must have for your main gigging or studio setup as it is pretty much 3 pedals in one, like having the Rat but want to limit the amount of gear? This is comparable. I also own the Boss Super Overdrive and the hyde is more versatile. The exceptional sound quality and clearly acceptable pricing is obviously worth at least trying out. I don't know any serious musicians who have said or will say anything bad about it. This is a serious pro quality pedal!

Jekyll and Hyde with a new idea too try

Comments about Visual Sound V2 Series V2JH Jekyll and Hyde Overdrive and Distortion Guitar Multi Effects Pedal:

A excellent pedal OD and Distortion tone !By accident my friend tried a different OD pedal while the Distortion was at low drive settings and found a great rock sound!I havent heard the crunchy chords get so heavy before, whoa when i saw he was pushing the Jekyll Distortion side with my green Rhino OD i was frieked, classic heavy rock and not harsh,it just pure rocked!Thats the twist, just start at unity gain on both pedals and adjust everything and youll find the Jeklly distortion has a great serious heavy rock tone !I thought i would pass this on !I luv the OD side by itself, but a whole new tone was just sitting there,I just didnt know it till i heard for myself !
It has great controls and adjustments are well thought out !
Fine construction, pots and switches are excelent as well !
Its worth a space on my pedal board !

      most versatile overdrive out there

Comments about Visual Sound V2 Series V2JH Jekyll and Hyde Overdrive and Distortion Guitar Multi Effects Pedal:

the only negatives I can say is that the distortion side can't really go past 3 o clock without squealing, but honestly it is more than enough gain even for metal. this is by no means a "metal' pedal, but most metal pedals out there suck. if you want a straight metal sound than buy a high gain amp such as a splawn or mesa rectifier (which I also have). but don't get me wrong, I have recorded with this pedal for metal songs and have received several compliments on my guitar tone.
For starters, I have tried and owned more overdrives and distortions more than anyone I know and this one is still my favorite.
It can go anyhwere from a slightly dirt boost to a chunky metal distortion.
the 2 sides together is defininitely my favorite, but it takes some tweaking to get the perfect sound. the slightest movement of any knob will durastically change your sound so be patient with this one.

Comments about Visual Sound V2 Series V2JH Jekyll and Hyde Overdrive and Distortion Guitar Multi Effects Pedal:

There are so many different tones to get from this bad boy... It is perfect for rock. One thing to note is that it has a noise gate so if you like coming in hard using a volume pedal, then make sure to put this BEFORE the volume pedal or else it will just turn on once the noise gate level is passed.

Comments about Visual Sound V2 Series V2JH Jekyll and Hyde Overdrive and Distortion Guitar Multi Effects Pedal:

I play in a cover band ad we do Blues, classic rock and some metal. This thing has it covered. The noise suppression is great. Only drawback is that you have to take it apart to adjust the noise suppression and bass. The rage of tone is limitless. A must have for any working guitarist.

Comments about Visual Sound V2 Series V2JH Jekyll and Hyde Overdrive and Distortion Guitar Multi Effects Pedal:

I was jamming at my friend's house all day today, and he's got a decent collection of pedals. i mean, like, 4 or five. a wah, this, you know, whatever. I had really been looking for a good OD/Distortion pedal that could bring the sustain out of my tube amp, which was wimping out on me despite the great tone. I played this pedal through it, and within minutes I fell in love with it. It's got all the ferocious scream, crunch and chunkiness I hoped for from a good pedal. will DEFINITELY be picking this up soon. Trust me, if you want some Stevie or J-frusciante tones, this thing is going to get you FAR. sounds even more wicked with a good wah. seriously, if you idolize john frusciante like I do, you'll know that he can make his guitar cry boiling blood. just... yeah, it's a pretty decent pedal.

Comments about Visual Sound V2 Series V2JH Jekyll and Hyde Overdrive and Distortion Guitar Multi Effects Pedal:

I've had this pedal for awhile now and it is the only OD/distortion pedal on my pedal board. I have it setup to work as 2 pedals, not a combinable pedal ( don't need to use the OD side to boost my leads I have a good sound man). This thing sounds very thick and warm even with the drive pegged out on the distortion side fully with plenty of gain for Metallica type music, not for enough thrash though. The overdrive side pushes my tube half stack to a perfect old school growl. Not saying this is the end all be all pedal, but it worked perfect for me and prompted me to buy there chorus pedal and it works just as good. I went from diehard MXR guy (tired of their pedals breaking down after a year or less) to being more open minded. If my MXR Full bore wouldn't have quit working I may never have found the Jeckyl and Hyde. I thank Visual Sounds for a great pedal.
