OVERVIEW

A killer distortion and overdrive in one box.

The Visual Sound V2JH is two separate overdrive effects in one pedal, each with separate controls, and each with its own personality. They can be used separately or blended together. Jekyll accurately reproduces the sound of the original TS808 Tube Screamer, providing depth and smooth sustain. The Hyde part is a heavier extremely versatile overdrive with more bottom. Use the Jekyll & Hyde pedal's EQ to scoop out the midrange for a wide range of tones and a Sharp/Blunt switch to go from compressed to very bright. The sonic possibilities are endless.

The V2 Jekyll & Hyde pedal features redesigned noise reduction and improved mid control on the Hyde channel, plus additional low-drive range on the Jekyll channel. Besides that and the sweet new V2 housing, the V2JH stompbox delivers the same great overdrive and distortion tones that the Jekyll & Hyde pedal is famous for.I

From its first appearance in 1997, the Jekyll & Hyde was the first stompbox to combine two separate effects in one pedal. Now ten years later the V2 Series gives you the same great tone guitarists have come to love, plus an added noise reduction system, creating the ultimate guitar dream!

Each channel of the newly designed Jekyll & Hyde has separate controls, giving you the ability to use them singly, or together. The Jekyll Overdrive channel delivers more output volume than the original TS-808--far surpassing its predecessor. The Hyde side is more than just a turbo version of Jekyll. With heavier distortion and more bottom end, this crazy distortion pedal is extremely versatile!

From Visual Sounds V2 Series, the V2JH Jekyll & Hyde Overdrive and Distortion Multi Effects Pedal features a diecast aluminum housing, ultra-reliable 10 million cycle switching, easy battery access and circuit protection from AC adapters.

Wow, this thing is unbelievable! I had my mind set on a Fulltone GT500 until I was introduced to the Jekyll & Hyde. This pedal does it all with consistency and amazing sound quality. I'm playing through a modded AC15 and a PRS McCarty and it makes it all sing beautifully. Whats so awesome about this is that it's set at a working man's price range. I'm all about my boutique pedals and this thing screams quality. Get it, you won't be disappointed!

When it was new it was my favorite dirt pedal. I could get great warmth out of it. Never got the OD channel to work as a boost but had a great sound with both channels. Roughly a year later it makes a lot of noise when not in use, kick on either channel and it gets louder. Bummer, I loved this pedal.
Features "where" great two pedals in one and both where buttery smooth.
Unless I got a lemon, mine lasted a year. I've already made a review on it when it was new and loved it.
For the price I thought it should last a lifetime.

Comments about Visual Sound V2 Series V2JH Jekyll and Hyde Overdrive and Distortion Guitar Multi Effects Pedal:

I have had the previous model of these. (The diamond shaped red one)I had bought it used and it was pretty beat up when I got it but it sounded great and was able to get so many great sounds. Infact, I loved it so much that when one of the stomp buttons broke, I bought this new model. Sounds exactly the same, plus an added noise reduction. The thing could go from a great crunchy sound, to creamy overdrive and in your face distortion. I've had a Jekyll and Hyde in my main rig for years! I'm in love

Comments about Visual Sound V2 Series V2JH Jekyll and Hyde Overdrive and Distortion Guitar Multi Effects Pedal:

There are so many different tones to get from this bad boy... It is perfect for rock. One thing to note is that it has a noise gate so if you like coming in hard using a volume pedal, then make sure to put this BEFORE the volume pedal or else it will just turn on once the noise gate level is passed.

Comments about Visual Sound V2 Series V2JH Jekyll and Hyde Overdrive and Distortion Guitar Multi Effects Pedal:

Very nice unit. Works well for my need, which is to have good high gain tones with my Hot Rod Deluxe amp. Fender is wonderful for clean, sparkling tones, but gain is not too good. Used to having incredible gain tones with Mesa Dual Rectifier, but wanted an easy to move combo. Noise reduction in distortion section works well. Wish it was in the OD section too. Pretty bulky, but considering it's two pedals in one, not bad. I use OD and distortion seperately to emulate three channels, then use the amps second channel as a clean boost, however, you can really go over the top if wanted by combining them. Good tone control. Very versatile.

Comments about Visual Sound V2 Series V2JH Jekyll and Hyde Overdrive and Distortion Guitar Multi Effects Pedal:

So here is the bottom line...this is a good sounding pedal, but it has design flaws....1st the noise gate on the distortion side fades out in fits and starts creating a messy fade in your sound...truly awful..you can turn it off, so maybe that helps. Next it adds much noise to my signal chain, I demand a quiet sound-and I keep it that way. About 2yrs ago I bought one of the Visual sound compressors the route 66 and it has been very good (kinda liked it more than my Keeley). So next I bought the V2RT808 Route 808 overdrive...great sound but what a piece of junk...the pots were actually loose and sounded very scratchy and they would not adjust the overdrive smoothly, the effect popped in as they were turned. Sent that back 3 times before I gave up on it. This effect (the Jekyll and Hyde) just has the same issues...a good idea, bad execution...I would steer clear of this thing!! I thought I would give Visual Sound a try again with this double pedal...but it really is not worth the bother...this company really needs to get its act together..can't be luck of the draw?? Maybe!! I don't think so.

Basically I watched a bunch of video reviews and read tons too. 99% great according to research.I bought thinking" no way ill be disappointed" well,, I was. I could not get a decent sound out of it. I use a jet city jcah20. Being a single channel amp I wanted to run it clean and use a box for a second channel, crunch/ lead. The others reviewing this must own really expensive amps. If you own a jet city amp this overdrive/ distortion is not for you. Hope this saves you money and time.

Comments about Visual Sound V2 Series V2JH Jekyll and Hyde Overdrive and Distortion Guitar Multi Effects Pedal:

Hands down the most important thing about any guitar, amp, or pedal is how it sounds. Overall I would rate the sound of this pedal very high. The way I personally use this pedal is for a modern overdrive and a "Satch" like distortion. I have a fulltone fuldrive 2 for my more vintage sounding overdrive. The J & H acts as my second level of overdrive. The overdrive sound is very versatile and is capable of hitting every style of overdrive you would like. I would not recommend using this pedal as a clean boost though. The bass boost option on the overdrive side is fairly noticeable when turned on. It's by no means a gimmick. The distortion side of things is interesting. For what I do distortion wise (which is not much) it works. But if you're looking for a full on metal/hardcore distortion, I don't know if this will do it for you. The tone can get kinda muddy on the distortion side if you don't have it tweaked right. I typically leave the sharp switch on all the time to give me more attack on the front end. The only true complaint I have about this pedal is the design. Keep in mind I have the old version with the old school push button switches on it so the new design may be better. I sometimes have trouble just hitting one switch at one time because they're so close together on the casing. On a final note, although this pedal does allow you to run both channels at once, I wouldn't recommend it. The feedback and noise is just way too much. If you can tweak it to wear you can use both at the same time, good on ya mate.

A excellent pedal OD and Distortion tone !By accident my friend tried a different OD pedal while the Distortion was at low drive settings and found a great rock sound!I havent heard the crunchy chords get so heavy before, whoa when i saw he was pushing the Jekyll Distortion side with my green Rhino OD i was frieked, classic heavy rock and not harsh,it just pure rocked!Thats the twist, just start at unity gain on both pedals and adjust everything and youll find the Jeklly distortion has a great serious heavy rock tone !I thought i would pass this on !I luv the OD side by itself, but a whole new tone was just sitting there,I just didnt know it till i heard for myself !
It has great controls and adjustments are well thought out !
Fine construction, pots and switches are excelent as well !
Its worth a space on my pedal board !
