Incredibly powerful, great-sounding overdrive based on the iconic TS-808.

Visual Sound's Route 808 overdrive pedal is designed to accurately reproduce the sound of the original TS-808 Tubescreamer. But the Route 808 pedal gives you a bass-boost switch and far more output volume than the original plus you get Visual Sound's proprietary tone-sweetening ingredients.

The V2 Route 808 is one channel of Double Trouble in a single pedal. The Route 808 overdrive is Visual Sound's interpretation of the TS-808 with level knobs for Drive, Tone and Volume.

The V2RT808 Overdrive Pedal features a die-cast aluminum housing, ultra-reliable 10-million cycle switching, easy battery access, circuit protection from AC adapters, and a wide and sturdy stomp switch. Bass boost can be switched on or off easily. 1/4" jacks in and out.

Could not find the tone I was looking for....I thought it was the amp and a friend suggested an overdrive pedal. This pedal unlocked so many more directions for my tone to expand from Rectified raunchy blues using the clean channel to all out gain infused metal on the drive channel. It even doubles as a boost pedal, when all you need is a little more bang. The tone control is great also for emphasizing your treble response. I run it in front of an EQ and get a wicked crunch when I boost the mids. If you are in search of more variety or simply "something else", dont waste money on a new amp. This pedal will take you any direction you want to go and will truly make your amp more versatile to suit all your musical needs. My only complaint is the location of the bass boost switch. Try switching it on/off with your foot withouut bumping your volume or tone knob.
Built like a tank, paint job withstands constant impact, I have owned this for close to a year and it works as it did the day I got it.

Well I wanted to like it...but no go here. BTW the buffer in the visual sound pedals is great. def resolves any signal loss issues. with a compressor early in the chain it gooses the signal and gets it to the amp in fine shape. This OD pedal however, is not up to snuff in QC at the factory. JMHO
So...i got one of these and the pots were very noisey. In addtion, when i turned the tone pot all the way CC or CW it would suddenly change tone, as if a switch was flipped. Not good. On the other hand the OD was good, but the problems were not good. I sent it back. MF, as usual, was great. They replaced it immediately. But the new one has the same noisey pots and now has lots of background noise. So 2 strikes and its out. Too bad as I have a visula sound V2 compressor and a visual sound liquid chorus and they are both very good...work well and are nice and quiet.

Def very promising OD sound, in fact very nice; but I cannot have a pedal with all these various issues. Gonna have to think what to replace it with. Will put my old BD-2 in the chain for the time being.
    OK
but the pots in addition to being noisey, kinda wiggled around vertically as if they were missing a washer or something.
Fair...in line with other OD pedals

Comments about Visual Sound V2 Series V2RT808 Route 808 Overdrive Guitar Effects Pedal:

Had an inexpensive SD-1 before this with some noise issues with that one through my Blues Jr (although it was fine through my solidstate Frontman 25R). The 808 is a great pedal with a lot of sound/tone versatility. Only noise issue now is when all knobs are at max.
Did a head-to-head comparison with a friend's TS-9. The 808 is very similar, but the bass boost gives the 808 better lows. The highs are better than the TS-9, also. The TS-9 is great, but the 808 really made me a fan of Visual Sounds pedals..

Comments about Visual Sound V2 Series V2RT808 Route 808 Overdrive Guitar Effects Pedal:

This pedal is great. I've been through quite a few overdrive/tube screamer pedals and this is my favorite. I mean, I've never played through one of the super vintage Ibanez ones, but screw it- this meets all my needs. Much warmer and more tube-like than the BBE or the others like it, with a LOT more volume and drive. I also used to have the Boss SD-1, and, while I like the SD-1 quite a bit, this one beats the heck out of it tonally- way more versatility.

I've owned this pedal for about a year, and I got it from a buddy who had used it quite a bit as well; it's taken a pretty serious beating from both of us and held up fine. I gig it at least once a week and we practice a lot, so it's constantly getting thrown around the stage/car/studio with no damage.

I play through a Jet City 112 all tube combo, and this is my GO TO pedal for most of my lead tones. I couple it with a slapback delay and a little reverb and it screams. Toggle on the bass boost and the tone is monstrous, with low-end feedback that lasts for days if you want. I don't even use any of my other dirt boxes much at all anymore live... overdrives, distortions, none of them have quite the tone that this pedal does. I usually run it behind a MXR Micro Amp pedal and with the extra gain pushing it, the 808 is massive when boosting into a solo or crushing a power chord.

I have a few complaints, though they are pretty minor.
-aesthetically, I hate it. seriously, it's the worst shaped pedal ever (maybe besides the Fuzz Face...) I don't like the Bass Boost toggle being so close to the knobs, and it's a HUGE box. But, none of that really effects the tone, obviously.
-I have noticed that this pedal sounds better with a high-gain style amp than with a really clean one. Now, this could just be personal preference and taste, but I do have a pretty twangy/jangly tube amp that I don't like this pedal with as much... just doesn't sound right. But with my marshall and my JC, it kills.

Overall, I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a green tube screamer type of deal. It's a little more expensive than some others (BBE, Biyang, Joyo, etc.) but it's worth the money for sure.

      Great Pedal

      By Grant McAndrew

      from Madison, WI

Comments about Visual Sound V2 Series V2RT808 Route 808 Overdrive Guitar Effects Pedal:

The Route 808 is a very versatile pedal. It has more gain and volume than a regular tubescreamer, and a bass boost switch. It sounds great with my VT30 amp on the clean setting and with my guitar plugged straight into an 8-track recorder.
The bass boost switch makes it way more versatile than a standard tube screamer, the drive control can get a lot more overdrive than my TS10 from the 80s.
The V2 Series of pedal are very well built. It has a nice battery pocket on the back and there's a video of one of the V2 pedals getting run over by a truck and still being unharmed and playable. I've had no issues with input jacks or anything else.
It's a great deal. A lot of tubescreamers and copies sell for more, this one sounds better, and it's cheaper. You can find a lot of demos on Youtube comparing them.

      Best 808 overdrive

      By doorsfan

Comments about Visual Sound V2 Series V2RT808 Route 808 Overdrive Guitar Effects Pedal:

Awesome pedal. I have owned the Ibanez 808 reissue and i have sold it since the purchase of the visual sound one. The visual sound has better grip on the bottom, a better brighter LED, a more durable foot switch, a better battery door, and the tone is a little smoother (better to my ears). Overall awesome pedal, I am now a big fan of visual sound pedals.

I have tried lots of overdrive pedals and own 4 myself. This one is a mainstay on my pedal board as it sounds fantastic and it's built like a tank. For those of you that like the TS 808 TRY THIS ONE and you'll never want another!

I compared this with the Ibanez,Maxon and many others before buying. For my ear this had the liquid gain I was looking for over many years. I run this in front of a Marshall DSL 100 through a Boss L2 loop switcher for leads. Volume: crankedtone: 12:30drive: crankedBass switch onGreat price compared to the boutique pedals, but still has the upgrades you would want. Solid chassis. I also own the V2 Angry Fuzz. I would suggest this pedal!

      Awesome pedal!!!

Comments about Visual Sound V2 Series V2RT808 Route 808 Overdrive Guitar Effects Pedal:

I have tried this pedal with a CP50's and CP60's strat through a Fender blues jr. amp and must say that I am really impressed with this pedal. It gives you all the TS808 and TS-9 tones and a whole lot more for around the same price if not less (808). The pedal is built well, is quiet, has a bright blue LED, silent switching and has a tone knob that actually gives you multiple tones from it. I have tried MXR, Boss, Ibanez and others and found that the tone knob went from muddy to shrill instantly. Not with this one. You get dark and warm all the way to chimey and clear. I also liked the bass boost although it only works with certain tones otherwise it gets to muddy and unusable. The bypass is also great. It doesn't mess with the natural tone like others do. I am sending this pedal back only to get the VS Double Trouble which is this pedal times 2. I can now have a Fender clean + a slight gritty overdrive + a thick singing lead tone. Great job VS, I definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a tubescreamer and a whole lot more.
