Voodoo Lab

Its lush psychedelic swirl will send you on a sonic trip through the '60s and '70s.

Voodoo Lab's Micro Vibe pedal delivers the same juicy, swinging tone as the original 1968 Uni-Vibe. Its unique sound achieved legendary status when Jimi Hendrix used the effect on his Band of Gypsys record, and his landmark Woodstock performance of "The Star Spangled Banner." Guitar heroes like Robin Trower, David Gilmour, and Stevie Ray Vaughan also helped make the phase-based effect a tone classic.

Completely analog, Micro Vibe features the same sinewave oscillator, incandescent lamp, and photocells, which gave the original its groovy swagger. Thanks to the tone guru's at Voodoo Lab, Micro Vibe gives you the same lush, psychedelic colors of the original, but in an ultra-compact, pedalboard friendly 9V stompbox! Micro Vibe features true bypass switching, a heavy-duty metal switch, and on/off status LED. Hand built in the U.S.A. and fully backed by a 5-year warranty.

Features

  • Authentic, pure analog Vibe sounds that swing
  • Compact, pedalboard friendly size
  • Runs on a 9V battery
  • True bypass switching with LED
  • Hand built in the U.S.A.

It sounds great, with very little noise. The rotary effect is smooth & very warm. Digital all in one devices get an ok tone, but not as detailed & warm as this pedal. This pedal has the same oscillator, lamps & photocells as the original Uni Vibe. I've been on a mission lately to replace my digital effects with analog circuits and I have found tones I could not reach before. Things are much more touch sensitive and react differently depending on the overdrive or whatever boost you are using. I'm getting back in touch with those types of tones. The Micro Vibe falls right into that category.
Vert simple to use. A simple speed & depth controls.
The foot switch, and the speed/intensity pots are directly fastened to it's very sturdy metal case. A much longer lasting method. You can also replace these parts yourself if they wear out.
Unfortunately, the plastic input jacks that are the commonly used today are connected to the circuit card then attached to the metal case. I understand this saves money, but it puts undo wear on the circuit car & if a jack wears out, you need to send it out for repair. This goes for all pedals: If you can Velcro it to a pedal board & keep it plugged in, your gear will last longer. Go over the nuts on the jack & make sure they are secure. Be careful not to over tighten it! The overall quality is quite good.
I was able to compare this pedal directly to the Fulltone Mini Deja Vibe. I thought the Voodoo sounded nicer. Even with the Fulltone's extra switches, the Voodoo's Uni Vibe sound was better. The VooDoo is cheaper. A 9v converter should be included, there's a ton of markup in these pedals, they can do it.
Add up the Micro Vibe's great sound, low noise, ease of use & very reasonable price, even at this price I'd say it's a good value. With a 9v supply, a great value.

Simple to use, minimal controls, and sounds good. Adds ambience to clean sounds and an ethereal quality to overdriven ones. I wished that the speed control would go a bit slower.
Too early to tell. There were previous issues with the foot button crapping out on some of the earlier voodoo pedals. Hopefully not the case now.
Kinda on the pricey side for what it is imo.

adds so much good flavor... and it can be adjusted by careful nudge with foot too. Very happy with the range of speed too... not a bit of useless range like some other pedals. Good vibe :)

Great peddle to nail that signature tone from many 60s/70s rock songs...It's a permanent fixture on my peddleboard...warm, dynamic modulation, nails that 60s San Fran tone perfectly...and is good for other basic coloration and subtle effects, it can even get swirly enough to cover a phaser or light flange effect...I really like it.

Comments about Voodoo Lab Micro Vibe Pedal:

This pedal sounded as good as I thought it was going to sound. I've wanted a vibe pedal for a long time, since I bought my first plain old phaser and realized that a plain old phaser isn't quite the same as a vibe.

The only con in my opinion is that speed doesn't get as fast as I thought it would, but I probably would use it on a faster speedy anyway, so no big deal.

The Micro Vibe is a killer pedal with great tone. Get it!

I was thinking about this or the full tone deja vibe for along time. for 1/2 the price I went with this and Im glad I did this thing is sweet. with a clean sound it is not as effective but with a little dirt it comes to life deffinitly has the pink floyd /jimi/ robin trower thing down. would buy this again for sure and for 1/2 the price of the fulltone its well worth it!

The first one I bought was sent back after a week exchanged for another after 3 months it stops working? It wont turn back? No sound difference between when it is engaged or in the off position. I plugged my 25 year old ADA flanger back in and it still kicks butt over this pedal.I would not recommend this one.

This is a pretty damn good pedal. I'm not a huge gear head but I must say, this pedal is very versatile. With a combo of this pedal, heavy strings, and my fat strat, I've managed to almost mimick Hendrix's tone in the beginning of machine gun. If youre into that kinda thing, I definately recommend tryin this one out.

Comments about Voodoo Lab Micro Vibe Pedal:

This, is one of my favorite pedals of all time, it can give you so many differnt sounds its crazy. If your looking for the classic machine gun sound this will get the job done and so much more....if i turn the intensity and speed all the way up...after like 10 mins of playing it kinda bugs me out like im tripping off the sounds, which there arent too many pedals that can do that. Me personally perper playing this one more then the uni-vibe itself WOW!!! buy it!!!
