OVERVIEW

Its lush psychedelic swirl will send you on a sonic trip through the '60s and '70s.

Voodoo Lab's Micro Vibe pedal delivers the same juicy, swinging tone as the original 1968 Uni-Vibe. Its unique sound achieved legendary status when Jimi Hendrix used the effect on his Band of Gypsys record, and his landmark Woodstock performance of "The Star Spangled Banner." Guitar heroes like Robin Trower, David Gilmour, and Stevie Ray Vaughan also helped make the phase-based effect a tone classic.

Completely analog, Micro Vibe features the same sinewave oscillator, incandescent lamp, and photocells, which gave the original its groovy swagger. Thanks to the tone guru's at Voodoo Lab, Micro Vibe gives you the same lush, psychedelic colors of the original, but in an ultra-compact, pedal board friendly 9V stompbox! Micro Vibe features true bypass switching, a heavy-duty metal switch, and on/off status LED. Hand built in the U.S.A. and fully backed by a 5-year warranty.

It sounds great, with very little noise. The rotary effect is smooth & very warm. Digital all in one devices get an ok tone, but not as detailed & warm as this pedal. This pedal has the same oscillator, lamps & photocells as the original Uni Vibe. I've been on a mission lately to replace my digital effects with analog circuits and I have found tones I could not reach before. Things are much more touch sensitive and react differently depending on the overdrive or whatever boost you are using. I'm getting back in touch with those types of tones. The Micro Vibe falls right into that category.
Vert simple to use. A simple speed & depth controls.
The foot switch, and the speed/intensity pots are directly fastened to it's very sturdy metal case. A much longer lasting method. You can also replace these parts yourself if they wear out.
Unfortunately, the plastic input jacks that are the commonly used today are connected to the circuit card then attached to the metal case. I understand this saves money, but it puts undo wear on the circuit car & if a jack wears out, you need to send it out for repair. This goes for all pedals: If you can Velcro it to a pedal board & keep it plugged in, your gear will last longer. Go over the nuts on the jack & make sure they are secure. Be careful not to over tighten it! The overall quality is quite good.
I was able to compare this pedal directly to the Fulltone Mini Deja Vibe. I thought the Voodoo sounded nicer. Even with the Fulltone's extra switches, the Voodoo's Uni Vibe sound was better. The VooDoo is cheaper. A 9v converter should be included, there's a ton of markup in these pedals, they can do it.
Add up the Micro Vibe's great sound, low noise, ease of use & very reasonable price, even at this price I'd say it's a good value. With a 9v supply, a great value.

Simple to use, minimal controls, and sounds good. Adds ambience to clean sounds and an ethereal quality to overdriven ones. I wished that the speed control would go a bit slower.
Too early to tell. There were previous issues with the foot button crapping out on some of the earlier voodoo pedals. Hopefully not the case now.
Kinda on the pricey side for what it is imo.

Comments about Voodoo Lab Micro Vibe Pedal:

I am very surprised at the great reviews people have given this thing. My main complaint is that my output level dropped when the effect was activated. An output level control would make the pedal useable. I tried putting my DynaComp in line after the MicroVibe, and that helped, but was still not adequate, and the sound quality was still not good enough to compromise. I don't want to have to move my compressor in the chain of effects. The MicroVibe could be useful for certain overdubs in a recording project, but I was looking for something to add teture to my live sound. This just wasn't it. Beside the output drop, the effect was only appealing to me when I turned the speed AND intensity all the way down. I returned it.

Comments about Voodoo Lab Micro Vibe Pedal:

Had this pedal for about a week and I am sending it back. It's not a horrible pedal given the price range but I didn't like the overall sound of this. A volume control would be a nice ioption due to placement in your rig. I am using strats through a Fender blues jr. and feel that this vibe is just missing something in the tone area. Very quiet when on or off, built solid and again very good price but still not sold on the sound. Try before you buy this one.

Comments about Voodoo Lab Micro Vibe Pedal:

I've never been more excited about bringing in a new effect to my arsenal. This pedal does everything it says it will and more. Maybe it's my mind plaing tricks on me (which tends to happen whenever I'm this stoked), but this pedal not only gives you the leslie warbles, psychedic swirls, and an almost flange-like chorus, it also seems to subtly breathe life into your sound with a hint of a throaty overtone. Not sure if this is making sense, but if you're looking for something to change up your bland sound or adding a new arrow to your quiver, this pedal is highly reccomended by me. My '82 Strat and Hot Rod DeVille has been taken to a new level.

    Good Job, Voodoo lab.

    By Hollow-body Man

    from San Diego, Ca

Comments about Voodoo Lab Micro Vibe Pedal:

The only reason that I gave it a rating of "9" overall, is because the casing has a machined grinding defect on the lower edge of the unit. The tonal spectrum is awesome, much much better than the over-priced Dunlop wannabe. It sounds sweet with a Gibson BB-King, Gibson ES-137 Custom and/or Ibanez PM-120 model guitar, a Boss GT-3 and GT-8 Floor Effect units (ran between a Wah and the GT-series). It really fattens up the tone of a hollow/semi-hollowbody. If you compare the GT-8 (built-in UNIVIB effect) next to a Voodoo Lab Micro Vibe, you will most-certainly discover an amazing difference; the GT-8 UNIVIB effect is not as clean and pronounced, especially within the low and mid ranges. Fender amplifiers get hotter attached to a VL Micro Vibe, especially the Hot Rod Deluxe and '59 Bassman models. Have not tried it with a Marshall (yet). You will not be disappointed with your purchase.

I was thinking about this or the full tone deja vibe for along time. for 1/2 the price I went with this and Im glad I did this thing is sweet. with a clean sound it is not as effective but with a little dirt it comes to life deffinitly has the pink floyd /jimi/ robin trower thing down. would buy this again for sure and for 1/2 the price of the fulltone its well worth it!

I just received the Micro Vibe recently, and must admit I was pleasantly surprised with my purchase. I sat on the fence for quite a long time before pulling the trigger, but oh so glad I did. Yeah it's 150 GW's, but well worth it. It sounds fantastic, and it's a lot of fun dinking around with it looking for that "Me" sound. Mine so far is, Intensity=2:00/Speed=10:00. That could, and probably will change as I continue to have fun with it. Good luck w/ your Micro Vibe because I know you want one!!!

Great peddle to nail that signature tone from many 60s/70s rock songs...It's a permanent fixture on my peddleboard...warm, dynamic modulation, nails that 60s San Fran tone perfectly...and is good for other basic coloration and subtle effects, it can even get swirly enough to cover a phaser or light flange effect...I really like it.

Comments about Voodoo Lab Micro Vibe Pedal:

This pedal sounded as good as I thought it was going to sound. I've wanted a vibe pedal for a long time, since I bought my first plain old phaser and realized that a plain old phaser isn't quite the same as a vibe.

The only con in my opinion is that speed doesn't get as fast as I thought it would, but I probably would use it on a faster speedy anyway, so no big deal.

The Micro Vibe is a killer pedal with great tone. Get it!

Comments about Voodoo Lab Micro Vibe Pedal:

I am well versed in all effect pedals and I have had and used the best and most diverse of just about everything. In all honest having had both a vintage and reissue univibe, this unit works and has a decent tone and is compatible with all effects in my chain, it works well at pulse or fast rotary sounds, the quality is first rate and all that, for the money it's fine. But in all honesty this unit is not as intense as the reissue or Fulltone unit. You have to push the unit with a little drive to get the tone to fully come into the signal. Clean is not very intense an effect, this is a Micro Vibe and perhaps it is intended to bring the Univibe tone from a smaller package. It works OK and the quality is first rate. Trower uses the Fulltone, if you want the more wacked full effect opt for the Fulltone. For the money this is a suitable unit.

              Killer Effect !!!

Comments about Voodoo Lab Micro Vibe Pedal:

For the coin, this effect does exactly what it's supposed to do. All I wanted was a good, "no frills vibe" effect and this is it! It's dirt simple : one switch, two control knobs (intensity and speed) and produces a swirl comparable to the Dunlop Univibe and anything else out there for 1/2 the cost. I had to play around with the order of my effects chain as it seemed to cause distortion when routed "after" my TS-808 Tube Screamer. I currently play an '86 Contemporary Jap Fender Strat (2 EMG SA singles and an EMG '89), B52 amps with a Lexicon MPX 500 in the effects loop and a Boss CH1 chorus, Ibanez TS-808 and the Micro Vibe pedals to the input and have the most versatile rig I personally have ever heard or played. I'm getting a lot of inquiries and questions on how to set up gear and I'm far from being a sound engineer.

I'm no expert on effects nor do I want to be. I just tap the pedal on and hope it sounds good with my set up. I've been looking for a leslie type sound as well as that Hendrix sound, bam, I've got both. The price is not cheap by any means, for me, but for the sounds this thing puts out, I believe it's worth it. This pedal nails the hendrix/SRV sound. Again, I'm no expert...so I might not notice subtle nuances between what this pedal puts out and the recordings of Jimi and Stevie, sounds damn close. I had one more space on my board and it fit perfect. Very easy to use and you can get quite a few different sounds out of it. I love it. I wanted to hate it because of the price, lol, but I love it. It does what it says and sounds as good as the samples. GOOD STUFF, VOODOO! I tried a line 9 leslie and it stunk. But their verbzilla is amazing. Peace!

With a combo of this pedal, heavy strings, and my fat strat, I've managed to almost mimick Hendrix's tone in the beginning of machine gun. If youre into that kinda thing, I definately recommend tryin this one out.

The Micro-Vibe sounds PERFECT, doesn't murder the tone, just sweetens it the way you've heard Hendrix & others with the similar effect. Go VooDoo first and you'll save the return postage.
