Voodoo Lab

Get the effects you want without trashing your tone!

On a traditional pedalboard, even when the effects are off, your signal still goes through numerous tone-trashing buffers, solid-state switches and patch cables. The Voodoo Lab Pedal Switcher uses 4 true bypass loops to send your signal only to the pedals you're using. Built with the finest gold relays sealed in nitrogen, your tone will stay pure and dynamic no matter what kind or how many guitar effect pedals you use.

With Voodoo Lab Pedal Switcher, you can use all those great classic and modern stompboxes without destroying that pure "straight to amp" sound. Have the freedom to use any pedals you want, and never have to worry that the buffer in your overdrive is killing your vintage fuzz!

Pedal Switcher features 4 instant access switches, buffered and non-buffered inputs, and a TRS insert for putting devices like a volume pedal between effects. Loops can also be used as a mute for silent tuning onstage, and A/B amp switching. Add a Commander and you can control an unlimited number of Pedal Switcher units allowing you to store combinations of pedals. Check out Commander here.

Comments about Voodoo Lab Pedal Switcher Guitar Footswitch:

I used the commander and two of these on my pedalboard for about 3 years now. I have zero complaints. It has done what I needed it to do and removed the pedal dancing for me. It's been a few years and one of the switchers is finally starting to go out. I didn't have the power supply problem one person had and I didn't have the volume problems also mentioned. I have used this on weekends playing in church and it has been a great purchase.

    Previous review update

    By Jim Angel

    from San Antonio

Comments about Voodoo Lab Pedal Switcher Guitar Footswitch:

Overall I would recommend this unit but be sure the power adapter has the right amount of voltage or you may experience problems like some others have.
This item was reviewed be me a while back and would like to revise my rating. As mentioned in my previous review I started experiencing problems with this while using it. It sounded good at first but the sound and tone grew very weak and made some strange noises. After contacting Voodoo Labs technical department, they offered to fix it under warranty. But before I sent it off to California, he asked me what type of A/C adapter I was using and I told him the one that came with it. It requires 9VAC or at least 12VDC. Turns out the adapter was only putting out 7-9 volts DC so I tried another adapter that puts out about 13VDC @ 300ma. My only beef now is they should make sure they provide the correct adapter to prevent issues like this in the future. Now it works fine and I love this thing.
Now that its working fine I think the quality is very good. Voodoo Labs has a good reputation and they stand behind their products.
    A bit pricey.

    Nice features, but...

    By Jim Angel

    from San Antonio

Comments about Voodoo Lab Pedal Switcher Guitar Footswitch:

Bought one of these when they first came out and it worked great. The unit went straight from the box to my pedal board and was well cared for like all my gear. Started acting up and became too unrelible to use. Then I began reading about similar problems with other units so I guess I'm not alone.
When these came out I had to have one. I liked the flexibility and the tone saving ability.
Started acting up right on stage, with the intermittent volume drops and poor sound quality. I had to do some fast repatching in the middle of a gig. Not cool.
What good is it if it sits on a shelf collecting dust.

    Cheap Loop Jacks

    By So Dissapointed

    from Midwest

Comments about Voodoo Lab Pedal Switcher Guitar Footswitch:

I have had 2 of these units for about a year. They have very littleusage. Haven't even been to a gig. The reviewer "Switcher Problems" is somewhat correct that the unit can mess with your tone, however there are no op amps, ect in the signal path. The signal is going directly in and out of relay switches and most likely it worked flawlessly when newThe problem that reviewer and others are mostly likely having are being caused by the extremely cheap quality phone jacks. These of course are where you plug your cables in and out of. After a short period of usage they will start to have intermittent contact problems. This will be most apparent on the input and output jacks which get the most frequent use.Contact cleaner does not really help and although the jacks are soldered directly to the circuit board, no solder joints were broken or fractured. When the problem exists on the Buffered input jack, you will have intermittent tone changes. The high end will drop off slightly (or even severe) and you will be perplexed as to why your tone seems to be different. Hitting different switches to toggle your pedals in and out of the loops will jar the input connection and sometimes 'magically' correct the tone. One may be left to believe that it is happening in the loops themselves. Obviously any jack that is affected by vibration is going to be a problem in musical equipment being used on stage.I'm writing this review because this is one of those cases where the quality of parts in the product are just good enough to get past the warrantly period and then you have a throw-away unit unless you are able to replace the jacks (which all mount on the circuit board) yourself.I am an electronic engineer and tinkerer and am able to repair mine - but what I thought was a very well priced, "American made", high quality unit is no better than those products coming from 'you know where'.From the picture of the GCX switching unit, it doesn't appear to have the same cheap, all plastic jacks so if you are trying to decide if you should get one of those or 2 of the pedal switchers (which I did) then maybe this will help your decision a little. I wish now I'd gone with the GCX. Actually - check out the Rocktron Patchmates. In six months or less, when your Pedal Switcher starts cutting in and out or changing your tone (which is the very problem you bought it to correct) - don't say you haven't been warned!

    savior of my pedalboard

Comments about Voodoo Lab Pedal Switcher Guitar Footswitch:

I just got this and tried it out. I haven't used it with my whole pedalboard yet, but i tried it with all my most notorious tone suckers, notably my big muff and my volume pedal. I inserted the pedals into loop one and plugged into the NON buffered input. with the vol pedal half cocked and the big muff off I A/B ed my signal first with the pedals in my signal path, then with them out. What a phenomenal difference. It will shock you, i promise. It will literally force you to grin with glee. Thats not the end of it. I then plugged into the buffered input to test how well the buffer could restore my signal integrity with the pedals in the signal path. This high quality buffer made my rig sound ALMOST like the pedals were not there at all. The big muff became totally transparent and the volume pedal remained crisp and clear even at low volumes. I don't know what the first reviewer in talking about... this pedal is first rate pro quality gear that will bring any pedalboard to life if used properly. Buy One.

    switcher problems

    By stratosaurus

    from N Dallas TX

Comments about Voodoo Lab Pedal Switcher Guitar Footswitch:

Had this switcher for several months. At first it seemed to solve loading problems, I started having problems with the unit signal killing, I tried different patch cables. This is not what it says it is, it's loaded with op amps, resistors and electonics. I discovered my signal just died if I accidentally pop released one of the switches, have to reinsert all the plugs to get it back. Seemed to work at first and then grave disapointments and this is not just gold contact transfers. It's more expensive but opt for the Keeley bypass looper.

    Voodoo Lab's Pedal Switcher

    By stratosaurus

    from N Dallas TX

Comments about Voodoo Lab Pedal Switcher Guitar Footswitch:

A must have unit if you run a chain of effects. I run an array of quality units and even a few that are claimed to be true bypass benefit from the gods at Voodoo Labs!!! This fixed by loading, capacitance and tone sucking problems. Please so not stop making these units!!!! For god sakes people wake up this is a must have for your pedal board. For those of you still using batteries, go back to sleep.
